AI was used for SOME vowels during a 2 min sequence when Brody speaks actual Hungarian not english with hungarian accent, and really i dont care lmao. For me it does take away anything
It's interesting to me at times about the AI argument, because the industry has been using similar tech for a while now and people only started really complaining after ChatGPT. I agree that some of the AI generative stuff is pretty controversial, but what they did here to me isn't that crazy
Using it as tool to tweak or enhance something is just Hollywood magic. Using it to completely replace a normal artist’s role is a little more problematic. I think it’s fine how they use deep learning (deep fake type tech) as one of the steps in the pipeline to make things like The Hulk’s CG performance.
@ Yeah. Pretty harmless. They basically used photoshop on the dialogue audio. Big discernment between this sort of use case and making a movie poster entirely with generative AI lol.
I saw the movie a few days ago, everyone gave a compelling performance, some award worthy ones which made me think Why didn't SAG nominated The Brutalist for Best Ensemble? Like, this is easily some of the best ensemble performance of last year and only Brody that got recognized at that show. Sad 😢 With many problems that Emilia Perez have, I just hope that The Brutalist (or Conclave or The Substance or anything else) could win huge at the Oscars. Would be cool if The Brutalist will be Oppenheimer's follow up to the next Best Picture win
In my humble opinion, as much as I love Marion Cotillard, Felicity Jones worked far better as Erzsébet Tóth than Marion Cotillard would have. Jones is beautiful (so is Cotillard) but Jones is less of a conventional sex symbol which gives the sexual elements of the relationship a sweet quirkiness (you can see her in Like Crazy as an example on why she works) where she and Adrien Brody's romance part could've felt a bit cliche. It really felt like watcing an older generation and not a typical romantic image of a period romance like Atonement or Pride & Prejudice. It also helps that Jones and Cotillard have a very different acting style. Jones is known for her nuanced and restriced performance like The Theory Of Everything or Rogue One. If The Brutalist demanded more understated and emotionally controlled portrayal, Jones' style might've alligned better with the film's aesthetic and direction. Cotillard, while incredibly talented, often brings a more intense, emotive energy to her roles, which might've shifted the tone of the film. I think if Joel Edgerton and Marion Cotillard actually played the roles, this movie would've been a lot different than what we got right now

Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, and Guy Pearce. My favorite trio of 2024 movies So happy to see Brody back in award conversations as he deserves to be, he's such a chameleon that you can't tell that he's just acting Felicity Jones, it's been a while since the last time I was impressed by her work, grateful to see that she got another Oscar nomination for this And then Guy Pearce, an actor that has been underappreciated for so long and I'm happy to know that he got his first Oscar nomination for The Brutalist. Hopefully, it won't be his last 😊
It will be interesting to see! It's a bit of a complicated Best Picture season this year. Personally I would have liked to see Denis Villenueve in there for Best Director, but Corbet would certainly deserve it as well!
Make a boring drama movie that nobody notices and you can have your movie nominated in oscars best movie category and then everyone will know about it 🤣😂😅
Do you think The Brutalist will win BEST PICTURE?
Yes, As It Should
Yes, yes, and freaking YES! Between this and Conclave as a follow up to Oppenheimer for Best Picture
@@Erasureeraser covering conclave next month 😉
No, this is one of the most ordinary movie of the year

Shooting such a film on such scale with such a low budget? Really puts into perspective how much money laundering is involved in Hollywood

Great cast for sure! Honestly, liked that we got Adrien Brody in this in the recast
This is such a cinematic experience, i urge people to see it in theaters because if you don’t you won’t get anywhere near the same experience

I’ve been intrigued to see this film, only problem is that it’s not in wide release here in Australia yet
I had to wait months for it to release near me haha. Hope you guys get it soon!
kudos to the director and the actors!

Appreciate it!
Best movie of the year, by far
Honestly, I didn't even feel like I needed the intermission. Didn't feel like it was 3hr 45min.
@ intermission helped though. Needed to stretch and bathroom break. But both halves flew by
@@friendlypup5650 It did. But yeah, when it first hit I was like, "We're already an hour and a half into this movie?"
