I love seeing Max flip out like this. Really has the same feeling of being back in high school and getting hyped up with your buddies about the next awesome game coming out, whatever that might have been. Popping open a gaming magazine and reading up on the details and speculating about the secrets...so much fun, so nostalgic. Also: I'm in total agreement as to where I think Part 2 will end. While Sephiroth's legendary helmsplitter is certainly one of the most well known moments in all of gaming, I don't think that's where they'll call it. Ending after Northern Crater makes for a MUCH more potent To Be Continued.
I think there's also the possibility that Aerith survives until North Crater - in the original game she was meant to die there instead of City of the Ancients, but it was moved forward to match with the end of Disc 1 when they were running out of space on the Disc. Would be a good troll to have her survive just a bit longer - get her reaction to her family videos in Icicle Inn, then just when everyone starts to think she's safe... - but then we'd probably miss the funeral scene because Clouds off the deep end by then, which feels wrong (unless Zack steps in?). Lots of possibilities.
Am I the only one who like it probably going to end with something completely new that is not apart of the original game. Like they seem to be pushing that idea
@@bigwave1713 I don't think they'll go too far off the deep end with the story progression. Things will DEFINITELY be different - but this is Sephiroths do over. He's tweaking the story to go his way, but not going a whole new route. So I think we'll still go to the same places and get most of the big story moments, but parts dictated by Sephiroth could have very drastic differences (IE, city of the ancients). The main new path would be explored with whatever is going on with Zack
Hmm.. I think at the end of part 3 alot more people are going to have to die from the main party. Considering that Sephiroth is basically existing due to people remembering him. Im thinking she is surviving till the next disc.
The whole thing about Cloud not trusting everyone or his memories could also tie into part 3 with Tifa trying to bring Cloud back. Help him sort out his memories and come to trust the party.
He seems to have this type of enthusiasm for every game he covers. Really refreshing to just see a guy that gets hyped and super positive about games, while being smart and knowledgeable about them at the same time.
As he keeps screaming my brain is reliving all the areas you visit in FF7. Releasing the weapons and fighting Jenova Death seems like a wonderful place to end the 2nd part.
@@mikec5400 Even if he does forget remembering events of the game (he did said that he prefer replaying the game after a long time to the point he forgot), he's been consistently one of the few who understands the intention of the Remake trilogy. To call him a sham is a stretch.
The conversation between Cloud and Tifa is happening during the flashback sequence I'm sure of it. My thoughts are that they will delve deeper into Cloud's mental illness making him paranoid of everyone and everything.
Love the prediction of where REBIRTH will end. I can already imagine the team spread out and looking up at meteor especially that little cut where Barret is looking out the window. Then some kinda zoom out the camera swings around and shows you meteor up close and personal and then quick cut to black and the credits roll.
Regarding the feathers, I felt as though they might indicate that we are looking at a changed situation. In the first game it was black feathers now its white, as if to say, the events that unfold could be totally opposite now... and of course we are looking at zack as one of those big differences
Yeah it’s fascinating because every black feather corresponded to Sephiroth but the only white feathers belong to Angeal. I don’t think he’s alive but now I believe they represent Zack possibly since he seems he’s going to be a HUGE character in the upcoming story
I actually wonder if there are two sephiroths one from the original timeline and the one of this timeline, and those feathers dont represent what people think they do, but it could represent a rebirth for the sephiroth of this version of events, the thought of a sephiroth vs sephiroth battle just sounds it would be quite a sight
@@sevenmastergamer9261 Then they will make peace with each other, and all of them will hold hands and sing kumbaya! 20 years later, Square Enix will release a remake where another Sephiroth tries to spoil the happiness :D
@@sevenmastergamer9261 I think both sephiroth and the aerith that cloud talked to that night in the game are the original versions of themselves. I think when aerith is able to go back to the past using the lifestream. The aerith that cloud talks to couldn't have been the remake aerith since she was captured by Shinra. She told him not to fall in love with her because she knows that if things go the normal way she's going to die. In the original series cloud never got over her if anything when they defeated sephiroth cloud went back to being the way he was before he met her. I think they'll find a way to 100% kill sephiroth and make sure aerith doesn't die.
@@sevenmastergamer9261 the ultimania confirmed that there were multiple Sephiroths. He even referred to himself different in Japanese. He refers to himself as Watashi after he goes insane in Nibelheim and everything else afterwards when he's evil. But at the edge of creation when he's with Cloud he refers to himself as Ore. Ore is how Sephiroth referred to himself when he still had his humanity. When he was still a good person and friends with Angeal, Genesis, Zack all of Crisis Core prior to finding Jenova. I think you're onto something
Im thinking the white feather is less representing Angeal the character, but more his legacy that is passed from Zack to Cloud. So the legacy of his Honor™
11:05, Cloud has been remembering shit without understanding he's remembering shit. Go back to the first time he gets off of the train. He comes across a guy reading the Avalanche flyer and remembers the plate falling.
and not just that there is also the point of him shedding a tear when looking at aerith when she is guiding him to sector 7. this shit is gonna be nuts
Holy shit, seriously, this was SO well edited, I'd love to see more videos edited like this! This was. AMAZING! I laughed so hard, but, yet, I got even more hyped!
I only just recently played through the original FF7, the whole time trying to get a feel for what would be an ideal ending/starting point for each entry in a trilogy, and the post-northern crater scene of Tifa opening that window and just sees that METEOR approaching leaped out at me, that is just ideal imagery to slap a hard gut punching TO BE CONTINUED on it.
Enhanced, i think, with barret delivering exposition to her (us) (because she was unconscious/asleep for days), about where everything stands. Could be done like the gladriel exposition in the two towers.
Would there be enough content to make a decently sized 3rd game tho? It's been a while since I played the original but I feel like the amount of story content after the appearance of Meteor is no more than 10-15% of the whole game.
@Burst Your Bubble I mean, sure, but since it's a confirmed trilogy they still have the issue of having like 80% of the actual game plot all in the second game. First game was kinda excusable since they still weren't 100% sure about continuing the project and the fact that the end of Midgar makes for a perfect episode ending, but it'd make little sense doing the same for part 3 now that they finalized the scope of the project.
Yeah I think people should cool their "open world" expectations. Like Max said, even og was pretty linear and mostly an illusion of freedom. By the sounds of it they want Rebirth to be more impactful, emotional and memorable, and you can only truly achieve this via linear story telling. You need players to go through a specific ride of emotions and wow moments at a very specific pace. And that can't happen if you spend 100 hours doing side quests between chapter 4 and chapter 5. That said the closed environments better be "wide". If they are just corridors with foliage I'll be pretty disappointed, not gonna lie.
I think part 3 may be open world if it follows a similar format to the OG, within the new storyline of course. There’s a ton of backtracking in the final third of the game- going back to midgar, zipping all over the world for main quests, also a bunch of side quests opening up on the four corners of the world. I also hope the last installment is more open world so that we get to experience piloting the airship, breeding a gold chocoho, etc. I can’t imagine how much fun that would be on modern hardware. I spent hours as a kid just flying everywhere on the airship because back in 98 it was such a cool concept to an rpg noob like me. Anyway, just my thoughts.
I think FFVII Rebirth will be a linear game with massive zones (FF12-style) like Max predicted here. But, I have to disagree that "impactful, emotional and memorable" narrative can only be achieved with linear storytelling. Both Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 have some of the best narratives ever told in a video game and they're both massive open world games. Infact, witcher 3 specifically takes advantage of it's open world by giving you sidequests at every corner of it's world, which are more often than not, better written than the main quests of entire games.
I feel people mix up the terms Open World (which FF7 was not) and overworld where you can go to different places but you still have a very linear story which was a jrpg staple for decades.
@@velvetcrowe5548 It's possible it's just harder. Red Dead gameplay was considered boring/basic by a lot of people. The more fun you have the less interested you are in advancing the main quest. And if the side quests are really well designed, that makes it worse. In Remake the side quests were limited and kinda lame by design. Probably a little too much if we're being honest. They felt like chores but it worked because you naturally got tired of them and couldn't wait to continue the story. In Jrpgs the level up and loot systems are what naturally intice you to keep moving. Because you know the good stuff happens later, there's no point farming low level enemies / dungeons for hours.
I never called you crazy!! I was onboard with a “back to the future style approach”. But my thought process as simply and was: “how do we (square) tell the FF7 story to include to compilation in modern times..?” And some developer said “Biff Tannen!”
Same here. Honestly I didn't know people even debated the topic anymore. It was obvious for just playing the game. Then creators like max spelled it out. I do feel for the people who don't like that direction but for me I was fine. I the compilation was always a guilty pleasure and I am glade to see the world expanded. Hopefully it turns out good.
Yup it was obvious from the begging that things in time changed. Sephiroth was the culprit behind the changes. I always believed in your theories. I heard complains about not loving the fact that it’s a retell and an excuse to milk the series into a ton of games. But I never believed that. I thought a thought a trilogy would be perfect way to tell the series. Maybe part 1 could have used some cut down on the fluff but to be honest it’s probably necessary to get more attached to all the characters. Specially for Rebirth this is where we all will be in pain. I can’t wait lol
@@Pparty_Gaming it’ll be well liked for sure but a lot of people aren’t fans of the direction, either in terms of story or gameplay mechanics. It definitely has a place in gaming history and it will be interesting when it’s all said and done, how it’s viewed as a whole. It’s just very polarizing at this point and probably always will be.
@@Kerunou I think one of the issues that people had/have is that the belief was a 1 for 1 “remake”. And maybe square led us all to believe that. But for me, the fist time Sephiroth appeared to Cloud I knew that this was some kind of “extension” to what already existed…it was then just a matter of how and I thought that was amazing. OG 7 is amazing as well.
Sephiroth's black feather was symbolic of the memory of Sephiroth, the thing that allowed him to come back to life through cloud. As the Remake went on and Sephiroth became more powerful, more feathers began to appear. I imagine this is similar for Zack.
I hope Square can take a page out of Zelda’s book in terms of continuity environment. Similar to how BOTW and TOTK are in the same open world environment, BOTW introduced the openness of the world and TOTK added more to it. What square could do is introduce the open world of FFVII Rebirth with their wide linear zones. Then, in FFVII 3 they could add more to it with new dungeons, etc to defeat each Weapon similar to BOTW’s divine beasts/TOTK temples
At this point I'm so committed to/convinced of the "Max is Right" timeline that I will be super sad if Max is wrong about any of this. I don't know how they could top the ideas he has laid out.
10:44 just an FYI - Remake also had a compass. I'm assuming nearly everyone just pressed L2 (or R2?) to replace with the minimap. Not sure if it's gonna be the same here, don't remember if there was an objective over 1km away in Remake lol
I feel like I'm the only one who preferred the compass to the minimap haha. I think Max was more pointing out though the distance on the compass to the destination being a LONG way. Meaning that's a large area.
@@TwistedSisler I don't know if he ever got to see the compass in the remake or intermission with yuffie, but 1km away is VERY far away, and that is just what we got to see, and also, that is just the flashback, think of the kalm and then walking towards chocobo bill and the chocobo ranch, that will be a loong as way.
@@ScrewFearMe I don't think chocobo ranch will be in the game to be honest. If they are planning on this game being completely standalone and think new players could start here then it doesn't make much sense to have to introduce him as a character twice since we've already seen him. I am expecting cutscene transitions from place to place similar to the end of the DLC, not walking the map. I could be wrong though of course.
I think the most you could get distance wise in remake was about 900M away, in that one section of free roaming around sector 5 and wall market. Of course there are bigger areas but none that had the objective 1 k away by my memory
I always enjoy when Max gets hyped for FF7. I DONT BLAME HIM THOUGH!! As a fellow FF7 fan as well, IM HYPED AS HELL!!!! 5:25 and here we have a perfect example of why I love seeing Maximilian Dood’s videos….
His hype is truly infectious and part of the reason why I decided to play the original FF7! I'm still on Disc 1, but I'm enjoying it a lot, already (Materia is the actual best magic system, I wish it was in all JRPGs).
@@moonmoon2479 It's totally fine if you're not a fan of Remake or are skeptical about the developer's comments about Rebirth. It's also totally fine if you think this trilogy is overrated and getting undeserved hype. Your feelings are valid, but big oof for using said feelings to crap on people's hype. Let people be excited!
I agree - even just in terms of "amount of game" - ending at the end of disc 1 doesn't leave part 2 with a ton of content without Midgar, and it makes part 3 absolutely massive and with a lot of different directions. Northern Cave makes perfect sense as an ending - it leaves part 3 to not be a winding directionless mass of things, it still gives them the opportunity to expand on the world, it gives part 2 an absolutely mind blowing ending AND it lets part 3 have a really awesome opening. But really, I just want them to give us a full cinematic sequence of Aerith and the Highwind.
It actually makes a lot of sense if they're following the format of OG Star Wars to end at northern crater and to have part 3 start at the attack of Junyon, it'll be like the throwdown at the Sarlack pit in Return. Amazing vid as always dood!
-Cloud's memories were always sus, even in the original. But now you got multiple timelines involved, where he can remember from, mind-fucking him even more. -With this in mind, Sephiroth may very well turn out to be not only a force of good, but eventually a character who could be in your party, even if it's not the "same" sephiroth. -I point to his fight with Cloud in Remake, and the strange battleground they're fighting in. Did they actually travel there? Was it some sort of mind-fuckery battle internally like the end of the original? -I predict the events will be remixed a bit more, with Cloud in a coma at the end of Rebirth... after all, his entire coma episode is him basically sifting through memories he had to find himself again.
Sephiroth in party has been my biggest want since remake was announced. They need to do it to nod back to GameShark codes letting you add him in place of someone else.
A little thing that passed through my head: no one had the feeling that we could play as Zack, in Rebirth, in that timeline? And what if Tifa, at the end of the reactor flashback, tell Cloud that the things he says was done by Zack and not by him? (Sorry if i wrote badly, i’m not english)
So in the trailer, as I know both English and Japanese, here is the actual translation of the last part of FF7 rebirth trailer dialogue: Cloud: You were… Here, 5 years ago, with me together. Zack… Where are you? What happened to you? Aerith: I’ve been looking for you all this time… Zack: Sorry… I didn’t do much for you. Yup, I think Zack is returning too.
A small detail that I like about the trailer that no one mentioned is that the camera pans to sephiroth for brief moment to not only show him but to show that you play him during this moment (kinda like the original game). Like cloud looks like a party member being at the side away from the focus for that small moment and seph is being played.
Really? I didn't really get that vibe watching it. To me it looks like you play as Cloud. I'm expecting Sephiroth will be like Red XIII in Remake, completely uncontrollable.
@@TwistedSisler I think Sephiroth will at least be a companion character like Sonon. The Kalm flashback will be the tutorial most likely, so they’ll use Sephiroth to tutorialize whatever changes they made to the synergy system. Controlling him would be amazing though. Not like he would need a ton of work, he’s already got basic attack strings and specials they could put on the atb menu. Although personally I’m imagining a scenario where they really want to get people comfortable with a very important mechanic right off the bat. So I think they’ll probably have you controlling a weak Cloud fighting the tough-ish monsters in Nibelheim and only really being able to kill anything with a synergy attack with Sephiroth
Love your idea of ending part 2 at the crater. It would be the best spot for sure, but my biggest concern is how do they cover ALL that content from Midgar to Crater in 1 game with the level of detail they had in the first? Not to mention the new stuff that is going on with the ghosties and such. Also, Yuffie was DLC for part 1, calling Vincent as DLC for part 2. Biggest things I want; Cid. Uncensored. How do they pronounce "Cait sith", and no major changes to the combat.
hmm, i dont see why theyd relegate vincent to being dlc in part 2 seeing as theyll most likely get to nibleheim in the game and the optional content, aka the yuffie and him, will be included in the story most likely (unless they did something like a side story from when he was a turk? i just thought of that and i think thatd be interesting) also hell yea. cid uncensored! let him be as vulgar as he wants to :)
@@2cupsoforangejuice I was thinking that maybe the party could find him in the manor, get his little schpiel but he tells them to buzz off. But after they leave he really thinks about it and comes out on his own and pursues vengeance against the Turks and Shinra for what they did to him. The reason for him being DLC would be to really give them time to nail down his Galian Beast mechnics since it stands apart from what the other characters can do. And Vincent has a really twisted history with the Turks and Shinra which can be focused on and fleshed out as DLC. Otherwise it would be competing with main story stuff if he just "tags along". Figure that he does his bit and chases Hojo all the way to the Crater, but when he gets there Cloud has already given up the Black Materia and Tifa and Barret are arrested, so maybe he links up with the rest of the party at the end of his DLC. Then he can be present from the onset of part 3
This game would be a lot harder to enjoy without Max getting hyped about every tidbit and detail. I honestly can't imagine Final Fantasy 7 without thinking of this guy.
I can’t wait to see the collector’s edition for Rebirth. Also, when he reveals the motivation behind the naming convention for these games, my money is on him sayin Max was the reason.
I think an important detail as well, since they’ve been acknowledging Advent Children quite a bit, is that we may see a new interpretation of those events as well. If not in Part 3, as a sort of epilogue DLC for that extra sense of finality. A sort of one last ride, one last reunion, one more time thing. I don’t think it will be a 1:1 adaption but some version of the events in that film will be included somewhere.
The editing in this video is unrivaled! The hype and presentation by max is incredible! The nostalgia is not there for me but MAN! Super hyped for max and the community and i will absolutely give these games a go! Shine on! 💯
@@SleepinEdwin I can already see him as a quest giver and his quest title: "Pushing It to the Max". Cloud and co meet this fanatic rando who seems to know a lot about them, but babbles on incessantly and is largely incoherent about what he wants. So Cloud has to figure out what that is to get this annoying fanboy off their backs. Even better if NPC Max just shows up everywhere they go as if he's stalking them or something. Give him a unique dialogue tree specific to which party members are available. That'll be replayability for days.
I am willing to bet hard cash that is exactly what it was. Max told the story of the Demo play with Kitase and the Devs. How they were watching his reactions to choices i.e. Picking to wake Aerith or Tifa after falling into the Sewer from Corneos and how they played his reaction videos to the Dev Team during production. They value his opinions and his passion has helped them drive the game forward. Gotta give it up for Max!
I am going with my heart on this one. I think Part III will either be called Reawaken or more likely Reprise. A reprise is a recurrence or resumption of an action. It can also mean to repeat a song, performance, or set of actions. In fencing, a reprise is a renewal of a failed attack after returning to the en garde position. Think about thematically and narratively what that word could mean for the final part of the story.
What I'm really excited for is to be able to come back to this video next winter after we've played Rebirth and just see how much of this Max was right about. Also, my God the editing in this video cracked me up. The blinking nearly killed me 😂
@@Seruphin my idea isn’t that he’s playable, it a whole backstory with a lot of depth for when he was younger and in the war and how he became a war hero, it looks like they’re doing a very similar backstory to what I said.
agreed not your idea buddy its just a theory fans have thought up i love how ff7 fans like to think they made the idea when honestly no one can own an idea for a video game there are millions of fans with ideas for a game nothing can be your own idea because someone has had to think it up as well
I really REALLY want to see Nanaki and Seto, and Barret and Dyne. Hopefully they don't take away from either one and only add. It's crucial that the emotion in those 2 parts is very high and hits like they did in the original.
I’m so excited for Rebirth! Seeing Max this happy make me happy too! For where this 2nd game is going to end I still found crazy that we have the exact same take on it ! XD I’ve become a fan like 6-7months ago of ff7. Did the original and after the remake it was so amazing…! So yeah I thought part 2 should end at the Nothern Crater too ! So that part 3 is about the materia quest, return to Midgar (I’m so freaking excited for this!!!) and the end. So guess my surprise when I watch 1 of your podcast (months ago) talking about it x)
14:01 I completely agree. I never liked Angeal (even less Genesis, for the matter). You know who should've been the father figure to Zack in Crisis Core? _Sephiroth himself._ It would make his eventual downfall far more impactful as you'd see him becoming more human by bonding with Zack through the game, only for it to completely fall apart.
Sephiroth sort of is though. As much hate as the modulating phase mechanic gets (and for good reason, it was a frustrating battle system), it is actually relevant to the story in that each one of those characters are people that have impacted Zack and the phase modulation is him thinking about those people. That's why it glitches out at the end and only Aerith is there. But I say that to say that Sephiroth was a mentor to Zack as well. Crisis Core just didn't have enough impactful scenes to fully express it.
Then again, they managed to integrate Weiss and Nero from Cerberus into the story... and make them "acceptable" characters ! So, from that point, and in good hands, everythin' is possible !
I mean, they TOLD Max that he and his videos are what they went to for inspiration when the going got tough, why wouldn't they take notes on what makes the man happy, given how he represents much of FF7 fandom?
There are not many things as infatuating as Max's excitement and energy for this series. You goddamn hyped my up for part one, and damn am I on board for part two. LET IT COME BABY along with the endless streams of Max diving into every tiny freaking detail!!

I’m calling it now…. You hear me Max!?!?!? The third title will be called *REMNANTS* Edit: Everything so far has been tied to Advent Children, and what was the antagonists in AC? Remnants of Sephiroth! Remake=6 letters Rebirth=7 letters Remnants=8 letters
I completely agree with your prediction on where Part 2 should end. Break everyone down, so that they can rise up in the last game. Also, great point about having the "Kaijus" for the last game, as an unique gameplay hook. I'm excited at the direction these games are taking.
Max needs a foil hat just for when he speculates about FFVII. Just to prove he’s not crazy, simply thinking in a realm beyond our mere mortal understanding.
6:45 I just love Max wholesome interactions with chat :'D Could watch your reaction and thoughts streams/videos on repeat, I love this shit so much. Sitting there, thinking what can/might/could happen is so great!
With the recent news about rebirth being the empire strikes back lol Max calls it again he's been saying this for years now its so funny that people doubted him and also rebirth is going to be heart breaking can't wait for this game now
I am fully convinced Square is watching and taking everything Max says. And I am glad because it all makes so much sense. I also think the wording being red definitely means something. The bottom of the meteor being red means that it is getting closer to hitting the planet. Maybe? All I know is I am freaking excited for this and can't wait to play this. What a great time to be an FF7 fan.
You know, my original thought was that Part 2 would end with a certain character's death. But what you laid out in this video makes way more sense and leads into a whole lot of story beats quite nicely.
You've done it, Max, you have made me want to FINALLY stop beating around the bushes, after years of just knowing by proxy, of playing only Dirge of Cerberus properly and a couple hours of Crisis Core...I'm finally gonna play Final Fantasy 7. It always intimidated me, I know how HUGE the game is both in lenght and legendary legacy, but your hype has convinced me. Also, calling it now, you're gonna save Aerith.
I’ve been saying the exact same thing. Rebirth ends at the northern crater after Cloud falls in the life stream. Part 3 opens with Tifa & Barret in custody & Meteor looming in the sky. Just makes sense.
@William Liew So Cloud manages to save Aerith from Sephiroth at the Temple of the Ancients, only for HER to fall into the Lifestream at the Northern Crater? Shit...
Most likely. My only problem with this theory is Northern Crater is the last "important" Place in the game. Meaning by the time we reach part 3 we won't have any new dungeon/town to explore except Northern Crater and Mideel. Everything else is just a backtracking for clearing sidequests. Well, maybe it's possible if they're adding a couple of new dungeon considering it's not a faithful remake.
@@baby_r4gna628 Fair enough, or... they go even harder on encounter design, reuse a lot of the assets they put together for Rebirth -- like Max mentioned -- and make finding the Weapons more of a direct focus rather than purely "go ahead and clean up sidequests" time. I doubt that anyone would care much about reusing assets in that way.
@@baby_r4gna628 well… if part 3 is weapon hunting… there is the ancient forest after Ultimaweapon, i can almost guarantee isle of the round WILL become a side dungeon, Wutai may be saved for part 3 as well. not to mention the northern crater will be fcking huge with all manners of bullshit to deal with i am sure. so i aint worried on if there will be enough to use as content…. just concerned whether it will be good…
Dear Square Enix. It is not approximately 3 years after Remake release if Rebirth is coming out between December 21st 2023/March 20th 2024( next winter ) It is approximately 4 years and not 3...Thank you
As soon as I watched the trailer I HAD to see your reaction to all of this. Your joy and analysis absolutely makes my day! :D I'd never thought much about where the next instalment would end, but your suggestion for where it could/should end makes so much sense!
Didn't like OG FF7 as much as everybody else who did, but I absolutely fell in love with FF7R. I'm glad we are getting so much FF7 stuff. Can't wait for Crisis Core's rerelease. I almost 100%ed the original and I'm likely going to drop Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia for Ever Crisis. (Fuck 1st Soldier tho)
I am with you there. Growing up, I hated it. I thought it was jank, had about the worst mini games ever put in a video game constantly forced on you, and the biggest reveals of the story that explain everything are optional and can be missed and weird polygon graphics that made it hard to understand what emotions were being conveyed.. and the terrible translation of the PS1 version didn't help with that. I just thought it was a bad game to be honest, and I know I am in them minority there. I loved FF6, but thought 7 was super overrated, but I always liked the story (just not how it was told in OG) and when I played Remake, it was an absolute blast and I loved it.
I don't remember when Max found it out, but sometime in this stream Chat pointed out that Sephiroths theme in FF7 Remake is titled "One Winged Angel - Rebirth". Rebirth was in front of our faces the whole time.
I also think they'll shift Aerith's death to the Northern Crater too. Letting you think you keep her alive well past the Forgotten City, only to twist the knife even more at the Northern Crater.
I really like that "Bad Ending" thing you mentioned. I feel like they really are rewriting the entire Story and im loving it so far. This Trilogy will become one of the greatest of all time if they can keep this pacing and storytelling up.
The editing in this video had me dying. Also, Max has been right about everything he said during that 2 hour podcast. I keep telling people to watch it, but they don't listen to me, so whatever.
The greatest moment that Angeal had was, blocking the attack of Sephiroth and Genesis at the same time, as if it was nothing at all during the Cannon fight scene at the Macro Industry. 😅
I truly think Aerith will be kept alive in the Remake. Aerith was the one who cucked Sephiroth's plan by summoning Holy and stopped the Meteor from inflicting a huge wound on the Planet where Sephiroth would be at the center of it absorving all the Lifestream becoming one with the Planet. Sephiroth will not make the same mistake twice since he's aware of those events in the Remake. I think Cloud will end up sacrificing himself to put an end to Sephiroth once and for all cause Cloud is the sole reason why Sephiroth keeps coming back, since Cloud's memories of Sephiroth are what's keeping Sephiroth's consciousness from dissolving in the Lifestream. That's why during the 1st conversation between Sephiroth and Cloud in the Remake, Sephiroth says "I will not die, nor will i have you die Cloud".
That would make sens indeed, but honestly I just can't picture FF7 without the death of Aerith, even if it is justified by a good plot twist, that just wouldn't be right
Plot twist Sephiroth potential rebirth, Roche might go through degradation, so completing his reunion with Seph, it heals hus degradation so that scuppers the plan for Reunion in part 3.
9:20 - I'll be giving a possible spoiler here because I heard that they wanted to do this. They might be turning the Sapphire Weapon into a turret defense minigame in part 3. The Sapphire Weapon for those of you that don't know was the Weapon that you never actually fight in a battle. It is only seen in cutscenes while your characters are in prison in Junon. And you don't have any control over the outcome of the battle, because it's happening while you're trying to escape. Imagine though if you DID have control over it, and had to do a minigame to beat it.
I was half-joking when I mentioned Loki as a possible analogy for FFVIIR in the chat regarding variants & whatnot. I didn’t think I’d hit it *THAT* close to the mark.
Calling it now! Third title will be "Reunion", and it will be the two timelines of Remake and Rebirth coming together. We will have Zack and Cloud in a party together fighting Sephiroth. Let's gooo!
Part three has the perfect part for everyone to lose their weapons and materia at the beginning if it begins with everyone locked up. Shinra just took all they shit 🤷♂️
@@Cobaltios They pretty much openly said though that this game is completely standalone from Remake and they even think people would enjoy starting FF7 from Rebirth so it doesn't sound like there will be any carry over at all. Same storyline, but a completely new game.
As a designer of over 21 years, I can tell you the red in "Rebirth" can signify a lot of things. The fact that THAT part of the logo specifically is red could imply a "rebirth" by danger. Sort of like a "born of blood" kind of scenario, which would align with Sephiroth's story generally but also with the direction Remake could very well be headed with it's new take on the original story. Red also implies danger, which as any of us FF7 fans know is an integral part of the act 2 of FF7's story. But it is also of significance to anger, which further aligns with Cloud moreso than Sephiroth. The "Rebirth" can easily be an implication of Cloud discovering who & what he is, and his desire to make Sephiroth pay for what he's done (or GOING to do). But interestingly, red also has significance with strength. It's anyone's guess what that could mean in context of the next portion of a game that clearly will not be a 1:1 remake of the original story, but I could venture a guess that it could be a similar role to "Empire Strikes Back", which was a film where everything ended poorly, the good guys lost, and "evil" has all but won. It could basically mean "this is the game where you don't beat the bad guy, the bad buy beats you and it ends horribly". *Edit: Just got to the portion where you mentioned Empire... I started typing this before hand 😂 I have to admit that all of these possibilities are VERY intriguing to me and I am already beyond caring about the fact that part 2 and 3 will not directly follow the original game's script. I've already been satisfied with getting a "remake" with part 1, and am perfectly willing to invest time into a game that re-tells the story in a new, unique way that both pays homage to the original while at the same time keeps even die hard fans on their toes. As long as they don't deviate in ways that completely contradict the overall theme and spirit of the original game (e.g. changing characters into completely different people, changing the significance of locations, etc.), I'll be more than thrilled. But I really, REALLY do hope that open-world/overworld elements of exploration and discovery aren't left out at the expense of more directed, controlled experiences. Final Fantasy isn't Final Fantasy without exploration, discovery, and accomplishment.
@@penultimania4295 THAT’S what you got from this post? Jesus… what a miserable person you must be. I came here because I am a fan, of both Max and Final Fantasy 7. I think that by the end of Rebirth, the timeline of this trilogy will be irreconcilable with the events of the original Final Fantasy VII. The 2nd entry "low point" won't just be the despair felt by the surviving cast members, but by fans of the original game who will now veering into uncharted territory. We won't know how this trilogy ends, and we'll be shook.
@@Operation_Bagel Calling it now: Aerith isn't going to die (not that someone else won't die instead) and the game ends at the end of the original game with part 3 being all new territory.
@@Operation_Bagel While we're definitely getting events that didn't happen in the original game, I think Rebirth will still adapt a lot of material up until Temple of the Ancients. After that, I'm thinking the third game will have a completely original plot to deal with.
The black feather in the original REMAKE trailer represents Sephiroth and his influence on the events of remake since he is coming back in time to mess with events. The white feather being represented in the REBIRTH trailer represents Aerith and her influence on the events since she decided to defy destiny at the end of REMAKE and put the events of REBIRTH into motion. I also find it interesting that the OG REMAKE trailer says "they are coming back" which could be a reference to everyone in general but it could also specifically be talking about Aerith and Sephiroth coming back to that point in time through the life stream.

I love seeing Max flip out like this.
@@M-E_123 Jenova death would be more climactic for the last boss, Cloud could be taken away by Sephiroth at the city of the ancients.

She told him not to fall in love with her because she knows that if things go the normal way she's going to die.
Pretty good
Enhanced, i think, with barret delivering exposition to her (us) (because she was unconscious/asleep for days), about where everything stands. Could be done like the gladriel exposition in the two towers.
Would there be enough content to make a decently sized 3rd game tho? It's been a while since I played the original but I feel like the amount of story content after the appearance of Meteor is no more than 10-15% of the whole game.
@@LuckeeStrikee with the great way they expanded Midgar.. I'm optimistic
Well, like you yourself said, Midgar in FF7 really was a few hubs connected by corridors.
Remake is a top 5 game all time to me and I have a feeling that this trilogy will go down as the GOAT
The white feather-- everyone is assuming Angeal, but what if Zack actually now has his wings this time...?
I wish his prediction about a KoF character being the last SF5 DLC was true... Would've led to a potential CvS3
He’ll at least be 50-60% right, if not all the way.
I believe the largest objective distance in Remake would be around 600 during the post-plate chapter where you can go most everywhere.

So do you think that one scene with Aerith will be in the middle of rebirth
@@devontejefferson6520 Yup! And I think that scene will explain 7 seconds.
We could potentially play as him, yes.
Who knows though, maybe we will only see him in cutscenes.
So in the trailer, as I know both English and Japanese, here is the actual translation of the last part of FF7 rebirth trailer dialogue:
Cloud: You were… Here, 5 years ago, with me together. Zack… Where are you? What happened to you?
Aerith: I’ve been looking for you all this time…
Zack: Sorry… I didn’t do much for you.
I hope that sephiroth is playable even if just for a bit
Videos like this confirm that Max deserves all the success in the world - the joy he brings to all the fans is second to none.
The editing in this video is unrivaled! The hype and presentation by max is incredible! The nostalgia is not there for me but MAN! Super hyped for max and the community and i will absolutely give these games a go! Shine on! 💯
“THEY CALLED ME CRAZY”
Nah, I’m pretty sure the FF7R team is watching every single FF7 video Max puts out. 😆
At this point, you'd think the team would put Max as an NPC in part 3 as a cameo or something
Maybe they are watching Max idea’s a secretly implementing them into the game. Lmao. For real though Max you’re an amazing fan and you know your shit.
@@SleepinEdwin Benny as a summon
lmao they're gonna have max as bugenhagen
@@SleepinEdwin I can already see him as a quest giver and his quest title: "Pushing It to the Max". Cloud and co meet this fanatic rando who seems to know a lot about them, but babbles on incessantly and is largely incoherent about what he wants. So Cloud has to figure out what that is to get this annoying fanboy off their backs. Even better if NPC Max just shows up everywhere they go as if he's stalking them or something.
Give him a unique dialogue tree specific to which party members are available. That'll be replayability for days.
Kitase, Nomura, and Naoki watching: “Write that down, WRITE THAT DOWN!”
Max: "THEY CALLED ME CRAZY!!"
Also Max: 'Has a whiteboard the size of a stadium, with millions of interconnected points and a shit ton of theories'
Let's go full Pepe Silva!
😄 Awesome 👌
I am going with my heart on this one. I think Part III will either be called Reawaken or more likely Reprise.
A reprise is a recurrence or resumption of an action. It can also mean to repeat a song, performance, or set of actions. In fencing, a reprise is a renewal of a failed attack after returning to the en garde position.
Think about thematically and narratively what that word could mean for the final part of the story.
What I'm really excited for is to be able to come back to this video next winter after we've played Rebirth and just see how much of this Max was right about.
Also, my God the editing in this video cracked me up. The blinking nearly killed me 😂
this is why I subbed. Max's FF7 analysis and, most importantly, his freakouts!
Max's excitement is absolutely contagious. I don't even like Final Fantasy anymore and he's got me on the edge of my seat.
5:25 Can we all agree that this is one of our favorite things about Max
best moment in this video by 200 miles haha!! This was perfect, best video I've seen in so long!!
So excited for what happens next Max! We’ve got to talk crazy theories one day, it looks like they are actually using my crazy Sephiroth idea!
What’s your crazy Sephiroth idea?
If your crazy idea was that Sephiroth is playable like Max said it might be?. It's not really "your" idea, many people have speculated/asked for that.
@@Seruphin my idea isn’t that he’s playable, it a whole backstory with a lot of depth for when he was younger and in the war and how he became a war hero, it looks like they’re doing a very similar backstory to what I said.
@@philiphartshorn still not "your" idea. Many have thought the same too.
agreed not your idea buddy its just a theory fans have thought up i love how ff7 fans like to think they made the idea when honestly no one can own an idea for a video game there are millions of fans with ideas for a game nothing can be your own idea because someone has had to think it up as well
I really REALLY want to see Nanaki and Seto, and Barret and Dyne. Hopefully they don't take away from either one and only add. It's crucial that the emotion in those 2 parts is very high and hits like they did in the original.
Bro, the Seto story. As a kid, that music with Seto’s tears actually made me cry myself.
Congratulations you have been selected amongst the shortlisted winners 🏆 for the ongoing Nintendo/PC/Ps5 giveaway 🏆what'sapp the number above👆🏻
Thank you once again to Jorge for the great editing; it just goes so well with Max's animated motions lol
The real unsung hero.
I’m so excited for Rebirth!
Seeing Max this happy make me happy too!
For where this 2nd game is going to end I still found crazy that we have the exact same take on it ! XD
I’ve become a fan like 6-7months ago of ff7.
Max, whoever edited this deserves a raise for the sound effect at 5:32
Nearly died from laughter at that lmao
God I love FF7 so much 😂 I share max’s enthusiasm. It’s just such a timeless classic
YES, literally who cares about Angeal or Genesis, let’s keep the original cast and crew and work on them.
I just imagine the FF7R devs are just taking notes after everything Max says. Max is effectively co-developing the game, without even knowing it.
The fact you people think Square devs are watching this channel for ideas for their IP is fucking the funniest thing ever. Cringe goblin boys
The FF7R Devs watching Max's video: *SpongeBob with binoculars and Patrick with glasses writing stuff on paper*
WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!
I have to admit that, I kind of for that....
It’s because Max is smart unlike the gaming masses

The third title will be called *REMNANTS*
Edit: Everything so far has been tied to Advent Children, and what was the antagonists in AC? Remnants of Sephiroth!
Remake=6 letters
Rebirth=7 letters
Remnants=8 letters
I completely agree with your prediction on where Part 2 should end. Break everyone down, so that they can rise up in the last game. Also, great point about having the "Kaijus" for the last game, as an unique gameplay hook. I'm excited at the direction these games are taking.
FFVII and these vids give me so much life, it's crazy
Max needs a foil hat just for when he speculates about FFVII. Just to prove he’s not crazy, simply thinking in a realm
beyond our mere mortal understanding.
6:45
I just love Max wholesome interactions with chat :'D
Could watch your reaction and thoughts streams/videos on repeat, I love this shit so much. Sitting there, thinking what can/might/could happen is so great!
With the recent news about rebirth being the empire strikes back lol Max calls it again he's been saying this for years now its so funny that people doubted him and also rebirth is going to be heart breaking can't wait for this game now
Max’s enthusiasm is what got me into FF7 and I continue to appreciate it
I am fully convinced Square is watching and taking everything Max says. And I am glad because it all makes so much sense. I also think the wording being red definitely means something. The bottom of the meteor being red means that it is getting closer to hitting the planet. Maybe? All I know is I am freaking excited for this and can't wait to play this. What a great time to be an FF7 fan.
Nice interpretation
They definitely do, the developers watch his initial reaction (7 years ago) for motivation
@@paulim5040 They watched a multitude of reactions..doesnt have anything to do with Max.
@@mikec5400 no they explicitly stated they watch Max’ reaction video from 7 years ago for inspiration
@@mikec5400 Dislike Max all you want, but the developers have specifically expressed appreciation of Max's passion for the franchise

Max, this is why I love video games. You give me the energy to wait all these years, and you can bet that I'm playing remake again before all of this.

Have u played it yet?
What do u think?
@@baby_r4gna628 well… if part 3 is weapon hunting… there is the ancient forest after Ultimaweapon, i can almost guarantee isle of the round WILL become a side dungeon, Wutai may be saved for part 3 as well. not to mention the northern crater will be fcking huge with all manners of bullshit to deal with i am sure. so i aint worried on if there will be enough to use as content…. just concerned whether it will be good…
And the logo will be completely red!
Major Street Fighter 6 reveals and gameplay and FF7 remake announcements in the the span of a couple of weeks, Max eating good right now.
When Max is excited, it is the best. He pumps me up, I love it. Contagious enthusiasm!
Dear Square Enix. It is not approximately 3 years after Remake release if Rebirth is coming out between December 21st 2023/March 20th 2024( next winter ) It is approximately 4 years and not 3...Thank you
Max, if you taught an FF7 course on UA-cam, I would so watch it! It would help my fan fics. I’m looking forward to more updates and your enthusiasm! 🤩
Gotta love when Max reverts back to a kid talking about all this stuff.
Unlike the gruff adults mad things are different at all
Revert ? I call that evolution
That line of "You were here with me, five years ago" sounds like Cloud remembering Zack during the Nibelheim incident, when they were in the tanks.
It could also be him actually talking to Zack or Sephiroth during the flashback.
I mean you ARE crazy still. Just crazy accurate.
facts
it is scary how much predictions max spits out and are right... very scary :D
I think the title Rebirth might be named for the Rebirth of Jenova.
I don't doubt it one bit, but I think it has more than one meaning... many, many more.
I don't remember when Max found it out, but sometime in this stream Chat pointed out that Sephiroths theme in FF7 Remake is titled "One Winged Angel - Rebirth". Rebirth was in front of our faces the whole time.
I look back to this video every now and again and am still baffled by how you called all of this, dood.
Either you sped this up or you are really fast at reading lol but I'm pumped for part two.
The editing in this video had me dying.
Also, Max has been right about everything he said during that 2 hour podcast. I keep telling people to watch it, but they don't listen to me, so whatever.
I love all the theories and just the talk around this in general. God I can’t wait for Rebirth ❤️
Max is the only person I truly feel has the same passion for a single game as me and its this game.
I love how he just called the entire tutorial and the aspect of the 'open-linier'
The greatest moment that Angeal had was, blocking the attack of Sephiroth and Genesis at the same time, as if it was nothing at all during the Cannon fight scene at the Macro Industry. 😅
Yeah, I was thinking North Crater too, after Cloud gives Sephiroth the black materia. It would be a good place to end part 2.
I don't know if I like watching Max live or on YT this editor is doing their job! Keep it up!
Just coming back to this video to say that, Hamaguchi really delivered. It was worth the wait.
That's actually a really good theory.
that makes sense, they just change Cloud with Zack who's alive and that's it, great plot twist
That would make sens indeed, but honestly I just can't picture FF7 without the death of Aerith, even if it is justified by a good plot twist, that just wouldn't be right
Nah! plot twist she dead.
Max completely losing his mind at Kung Fu Panda 2 is just the funniest thing in the universe.
Calling it now! Third title will be "Reunion", and it will be the two timelines of Remake and Rebirth coming together. We will have Zack and Cloud in a party together fighting Sephiroth. Let's gooo!
crisis core remake is already named Reunion.
it doesnt make sense to call third title reunion as well
3rd part will be called Reunion, and there the team will reunite with Aerith.
Part three has the perfect part for everyone to lose their weapons and materia at the beginning if it begins with everyone locked up.
Shinra just took all they shit 🤷♂️
Would be neat if when you do get your stuff back, the game reads your past save data to find out what you had last.
@@Cobaltios They pretty much openly said though that this game is completely standalone from Remake and they even think people would enjoy starting FF7 from Rebirth so it doesn't sound like there will be any carry over at all. Same storyline, but a completely new game.
Pretty sure they’ll have Yuffie steal and sell all their stuff off screen at the beginning of Rebirth,
As a designer of over 21 years, I can tell you the red in "Rebirth" can signify a lot of things.
I started typing this before hand 😂
I have to admit that all of these possibilities are VERY intriguing to me and I am already beyond caring about the fact that part 2 and 3 will not directly follow the original game's script.
You don't need to be a designer to make such 'predictions'...
@@penultimania4295 True. But I AM one anyway, and he mentioned "design shit" so I thought it relevant.
That it? Just came here to throw shade?
@@penultimania4295 THAT’S what you got from this post?
Jesus… what a miserable person you must be. I came here because I am a fan, of both Max and Final Fantasy 7. The fact that you ignored all of that and just assumed I wanted to brag (about being a fucking designer, of all things) is equally comical and sad.
Get help.
It's already uncharted territory due to how the last game ended
Watching this again after playing through Rebirth, I'm getting re-hyped watching Max be right about ALMOST GOD DAMN EVERYTHING
Man, sf6, dragon's dogma, re4 remake, FF7 remake part 2. We are definitely reaching a new golden age for video games, I seriously can't wait for all of these
Golden age....of remakes LOL. What an achievement.
Since the dev team looked to Max's initial reaction for motivation during the development of Remake, I wonder if they'll also look to Max's videos for inspiration too. Maybe they'll pick out some of his ideas and throw them up onto their whiteboards.
