this honestly made me so happy its a topic that nobody talks about and im planning on retaking as well :) and im honestly so proud that u were able to come out and speak about this publicly because barely any people speak about this. (disclaimer : I have no clue but u look like someone that was in my school but u probably aren't lol) good luck with everything u have coming in the future!!
this was really insightful- I‘ m retaking two of my a levels currently and had already planned to take a gap year from y13. I didn’t expect to get less than what I wanted in this year’s exams but they were really tough. I’m working towards next year’s exams now and reconfiguring my life and plans for the next couple of years- it’s an adjustment but it’s nice to hear from someone on a similar path :) ❤
hey, this was an amazing video and really addressed some of my fears especially the FOMO on uni this year if you don't mind could you please go through the process of retaking year 13 in terms of applying for UCAS and especially how to get predicted grades if you're a private candidate. Thank you so much again.
hey just wanted to say this really helped me because im also going down the route of retaking so this has made me feel slightly more motivated. I have a few Qs if thats ok. Which A levels did you do and how many did you retake? How was managing the work load? What is it that you did differently academic wise during your gap year? Did you feel that when retaking your A levels you did have time to do other things such as getting a job or a month travelling? Did you ever feel like you were left behind whilst your friends were moving ahead to uni and what did you do to help this? Thank you!
Hi Nina, Thank you so much for your comment and I am so glad that the video helped in some way. I smiled when I read your comment because I recall feeling the exact same way when my gap year commenced and I want to reassure you that the decision you have made is extremely brave and shows determination. Whilst things may seem up in the air and uncertain, please trust the process because the best is yet to come! The A-levels that I took were biology, physics and mathematics and on results day in 2021 (teacher predicted grades), I achieved grades DCC. At this point in time I was sure that I wanted to retake biology and physics and I wrote my AS exams in the Autumn session. After December I made the last minute decision to retake mathematics as well and wrote all of my remaining exams in the summer of 2022. During my gap year, my sole focus was my academics because I wanted to concentrate all of my time and effort into revision, however that is not to say that I was studying every minute of the day because that is far from the truth!! I tried to carve out a couple of hours every day where I could practice mindfulness, for example, going on a long walk, meditating, exercising or even baking! These activities in turn did boost my mood and made my routine more structured. Watching my friends move on with their lives and go to uni was difficult at first but I think that was fundamentally because I had a negative outlook upon the circumstance I was in. I was quite unnerved by spending most days on my own, but the amount of personal growth that took place was more than I anticipated. Ultimately I feel as though I have changed so much over the course of this year which will ultimately allow me to embrace and enjoy the university experience even more.
Where u able to move up grades? Because now re sits happen with every other student next summer so the grade boundaries are Normal again instead of before when it was easier because most people retaking in November/January had failed and weren’t as good as good candidates
I'm currently in year 13 doing psychology and politics and psychology and I'm going to do a gap year to do chemistry and biology a level to go to Oxford the year after for psychology
Hey! Thank you so much for this very inspirational and positive! I was wondering what you said in your personal statement about failing and retaking that led u to get offers? Like how did u say this in a positive light?? Also your reference what did that say? Also sorry too many qs when u resat did u do it privately yourself and revise at home for full year or what? Thank you so much again for this just really stressed out 🙏🙏
hello, how do i retake the same a levels if i cannot do it in the same sixth form. Is there any way i could just retake that last year without starting from the beginning.
@@arissahusayn4874 I heard you can apply for exams separately and carry them out according to a fee. Regarding doing the college years again if your over 19, it may need to be done privately. In terms of public sixth form if your within the age limit, then am sure you can do it there. But doing the same year again, am still not sure about that and which college does it.
@@custardcreamzzzu have to contact ur sixth form and ask if it is possible to retake yr 13, if not u are going to have to register as a private candidate at a different college or at an exam centre, since you are going to take them privately you are going to have to pay an exam entry fee based on what the exam centre offers, this can vary from 150-300 pounds per subject and retake them in summer 2025
Hi, Thank you so much for your comment! This was something I was very confused about when my gap year commenced too! When it came to references, I was able to nominate a person of my choice to give my predicted grades and in this circumstance, I chose my tutor. My tutor then received an email from UCAS with a link to write my reference and predicted grades. For people reapplying this year, I would recommend approaching someone who knows your academic ability well for all subjects. I hope this helps!
hey I am also going to retake my a levels and it would be helpful to know what uni you are going to and what course you have chosen after resits to see what kind of courses and unis consider resits
Hi, that is amazing to hear! I will be studying biotechnology with enterprise at the University of Leeds. I do believe that most unis accept resits, however I'm not too sure whether this applies for medicine/dentistry!
Hi if you don’t mind me asking, what course did you apply to and what grades did you get? I applied to Medicine and missed my offer so I’m currently resitting but not sure of my chances
if your going into 27k of debt you might as well do it at the dream uni you want to go

How did you apply independently through UCAS? Like how did you get reference letters and did you have to put your old A level grades in?

Hey there Armita! I was wondering if you had to retake only Year 13 and relearn the content and then take the exam at the end of the year?
How were your predicted grades calculated if applying in a gap year

I wanted to know how that works too
