One more thing the cuffs height on the Tau is a little taller vs Evo.

The laces vary from seller to seller, mines have waxed laces. I went with Boot only option.

I was concerned when I bought my HC Evo boots online. I have a wide foot. Thankfully heat molding seems to have helped considerably. They feel better than I remember my old K2s felt back when I last skated. I'm excited but I'll know for sure when the frames and wheels get here which could be a while (ie. whenever FedEx decides to do their job lol) At any rate I'm locked in because I immediately cut off the appendix toe straps which server no purpose for my foot on skates that are never going to be anything but snug on my EEE wide toes!
I do wish one manufacturer made a wide boot. Ideally Altra would make a skate!

I never had such a good power transfer and response with a skate before I tried the Tau's.
Unfortunately, I had many pressure points when putting the Tau's on for the first time. Since they fit me well lengthwise, I heat molded them and they opened up in the toe area. BUT, because there's so little padding in the heel/Achilles area, which gave way after heat molding, the back of my feet on both skates are in contact with the carbon plate (I assume). I can't skate more than 15-30 minutes before tapping out and my feet hurt for days afterward. I tried using thicker socks, ankle booties and wrapping my feet with sports tape, but nothing works. Not sure how to save them now, and I'll probably throw the boots away at this point...

Don't think there are ways to save them cause You tried everything. Ive had skates that have lots of pressure points but I could change the liner. In Taus You can not. I think You should give up before permanent damage to Your feet maybe. I can imagine the frustration.

Great video thanks. Everyone else seems to think that the tau has the smaller toe box, maybe thats not true any more?

Tau has bigger toe box for sure.

It was the older version of Tau, that had narrow toe box.

Would be interesting to find out.
I bought a pair of Taus in 2018 and had to give up because of excessive pressure in the forefoot, on the external side (toes and a little bit behind). So much I cannot wear them...
I gave a try to the newest Taus and it's the same. Maybe heat molding could save the day, but that would be a costly try (cannot return them if heatmolded).

@@fredericcudeiro6614 You can put extra padding (like a sock) in the sock or smth on the pressure point. Then put Tau into the oven and push Your foot in the boot. It will then heat mold the extra space for You. My Friend heat molded the Tau boot from 41 to 42 even. So You can heat mold it even longer

      Thanks for the answer!
I have 2018 Taus which whose shells are *not* heatmodeable. They're taking dust, my toes feel completely numbed after 1/4h skating...
I tried the newest revision of the Tau and feel the dame. Even upsizing to a 45 I still have pressure in the external side...
(My feet are 280mm long with socks, so I should go for a 44 in theory...)
I did not dare to heatmold them because in such a case they cannot be returned and I cannot afford having a second expensive pair of skates taking dust. 😞
It's a pity, because I love everything else about the Tau. Make them larger in the front, maybe add a carbon cuff, and you get my dream skates !
Heel lock is exceptional, Trinity is great, even the look I love it.

I love my 3 pairs of Evos, but I think the lack of toe strap on the Sam Croft Evo makes it hard to heatmold the toe box to be snug enough

    • @rullikutt

Usually there is too little space in the toe box, but if You have narrow feet, I understand Yes. Maybe You can use tuck tape after taking them out the oven :P

@@rullikutt i just bought a new pair of Boot only EVOs , the regular EVOs are so much better (for me) than the Sam Crofts, and the Sam Crofts scuff really easy , so i'm only going to use those indoors with a longer frame
