Bravo, Marine Corporal Carpenter! Just saw you getting the Medal of Honor - and I am truly humbled to hear what you did. My civilian salute to you & I cannot imagine what you went through. Here's to a long and prosperous life, Kyle!
Dear Kyle, Sir! I am an Australian who really appreciates what people like you have done and continue to do for their nation and others who call them forth to carry forth the banner of freedom so that the needs of the whole can continue to be free to live and free to worship as Christians without fear or FAVOUR. I have just watched the vids of and about your bravery and heroism and struggle to heal after the grenade explosion that has changed your life for ever! I gather you are a staunch Christian with a big "C" and know what it means to be carried by Jesus. I firmly believe you have not just seen the face of God or been touched by Him but all through your time in the Marines and especially on that terrible day when you were called to make the greatest sacrifice there is and still. Live on the other side that you saw a Lord's face and because of your faith you were not found wanting, that he and his holy angels had guard over you that day and many others since. There is a passage in Psalms that is valid in times like this, " I will run and not be afraid. l will lift you up as on wings of an eagle ..." l believe his Holy ones have since that time been carrying you in their hands and on their wings or you would not be here now. Your humour love and patience shines through even now in these vids about your life. I suspect you just will just say you just an average bloke like your mates. But you are more than that and if l may say so less than that because that day and every day since God has call you by his name and picked up his son Kyle Carpenter In is hands and given you a new life and task to do in his name with it his has imparted some of his Glory to give you the strenght the patience and courage and the quietness of mind to know his mind and his will and do what he has planned since the foundation of the earth. One can only know God's will if we are quiet and listen to the still small voice as Elijah the prophet found out and as one of the Greatest prophet Isaiah heard to voice of God as young man in God's holiest of places the holy of holiest in the temple of Jerusalem. HE would have been a young man at that time and it may well have been his first time coming into GODS holy presence for the first time. To make Isaih right before God to do this God sends One of His moghtyones Possiblely Jesus himself to touch Isaihs lips and Tongue so that he would listen calmly to God's message to the people then deliver it with humility and boldness and courage. I believe he has done this in his own way with you. You come across as a calm quiet personable young man with great fortitude and patience but with a wicked sense of humour and fun yet able to keep and listen to his own counsel when needed.
Kyle, I'm a retired Army Staff Sergeant. I've seen some things I'd rather never see again. But stories likes yours I watch over and over again. Well deserved Marine! Semper Fi!!
I don't know how it works in America, I'm a cadet and hope to have a military career of soughts. If there is an American equivalent I would unconditionally recommend it to you
I know this was almost 11 years ago, but I feel like he didn't just eat that grenade for his fellows, but for every American. For me. For you. For us all. Thank you, Kyle. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm not going to let Kyle get away with, "I'm no Hero, I was just doing my job." This type of selfless and courageous act, is not a common thing. Kyle and Michael joined that small group, that cared more about their Brothers, than they did themselves. They will never be forgotten, ever!
Kyle makes me proud we wore the same uniform, but in different wars,we are brothers. Thanks to the doctor's and staff that nurtured him back to life and the Corpsman that saved Kyle. His mother was the catalyst that started the reaction.Kyle is deserving of the Medal Of Honor .
Just watched this video years after the fact but as a Vietnam Era Marine Corps veteran your comment grabbed my attention. I have to speak on the heroism & dedication of Navy corpsmen. In my opinion they are the best of our military! Don't know what we Marines would do without them. Thanks my brothers for all the lives you saved. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten. I love you guys!!! Doc is the boss!
In 2013, the Sentinels of Freedom in San Ramon, California, created by a couple of Vietnam Veterans, chose to honor Kyle at a special dinner. I found out about this because I was Ladies Auxillary to Post 6298 - Dad was WW2 Army, son only child was in the US Coast Guard, and all my uncles were in WW2 and Korean War. While my son was away, I learned how to do stained glass. I made a 14-in round stained glass of the USMC logo and had the veterans send it to Kyle as something interrupted his trip and he was unable to fly out here to California. I've made hundreds of military honorings and given them to serving, retired military as well as too many Gold Star families. Today on May 19, 2015, my Uncle Bill went home to Jesus - he fought as a Marine at age 20, including surviving Iwo Jima - joined the 82nd ARBN for Korean War, got the PH for saving five of his brothers. I pray Kyle is doing well.
Might not be in the same branch as Kyle, but it doesn't take another marine to know what someone like Cpl. Carpenter is made of. He's just one of the many brave souls that truly defines a warrior's heart and perseverance. They don't make them like they do in our country. That's a natural fact. Congrats Marine, you've earned it.
What an amazing story. And, thanks to all the medical staff. By-the-way you people also saved my life. Thanks for all the excellent work you did on all of us.
Kyle is beyond a war hero!!! Thank you so much for his service and sacrifice!!! He is a great fighter and has no fear to fight for the country!!! Praise God that he is save by God!!! Kyle is a forever hero for this country!! Once a Marine always Marine!!! Love you Kyle!❤️💪💪👏👏👍👏🙏🙏💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🤗
Sending love and caring wishes all the way from down unda in Australia,. We are very grateful for our two countries being such great allies and always together. Lynda
I’m truly humbled by this video. BZ to CPL Carpenter, an extraordinary man and a stellar example for all who serve in the future. BZ, as well, to the Navy medical professionals at Bethesda (and elsewhere) who - combined with Kyle’s tenaciousness - restored him physically and spiritually. All of these people make me proud to be a very insignificant part (even in retirement) of the Navy - Marine Corps Team.
During an era when we are fighting global Islamic terrorism and when 199 of 200 from his generation are pursuing their private dreams - rather than defending the freedom and values of America and of Western democratic culture - this young warrior and his comrades-in-arms are daily making incredible sacrifices and serving with distinction and courage. As a twenty-year active duty retiree, I am in awe of them, I salute them, and I pray for their safe, victorious return. Corporal Carpenter - not the affluent Wall Street crowd, or the elitist politicians, or the arrogant academics and journalists, or the ignorant celebrities - are America’s heroes and role models.
Job well done. and remember you can't go until GOD SAY SO you are blessed by him and we are blessed to have you brother. one of my older brothers was a Vietnam MARINE and he made it home his friends didn't and all his war scares was internal. but he was one of the few, proud Marines to his last day. bless you all.
Kyle carpenter give me the best motivation what he did voor his country and fellow marine is extraordinary this gu is special and he deserves the medal of honer, greatings from the Netherlands
Prayers and thanks to all of the fine surgeons who work tirelessly to save this young man's life. And Kyle still has a beautifully perfect smile! God bless him and his family - and all of our warriors and heroes in uniform!
Jeff Baxter somebody lied in an article and he almost got his medal revoked for a hit and run, it was proven false in court so thank god he got to keep his well earned MoH. The dislikes are probably just the lasting effect of that
Kyle, you are a real hero. Thank you for your service to your country. God bless you and all the doctors, nurses and therapists who made you well once again. Thank you.
God Bless Cpl. Carpenter. He is a Marines Marine and his actions on Nov. 21. 2010 show it. Semper Fi Cpl. Carpenter, you are deserving of the MoH and an asset to the USMC and the USA. Again, God Bless you.
GOD bless you kyle... may you have a wonderful life, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU DID FOR THAT FELLOW MARINE, THAT COULD HAVE BEEN MY SON'S LIFE THAT YOU SAVED..... AGAIN GOD BLESS YOU.
Today is April, 8 2024, I am leaving this here for me. I am talking to a recruiter tomorrow, and I’m on my way to becoming a marine. I can do it ! I love you mom❤️
I took a mortar. That shit was bad enough. Can't imagine throwing my ass on a grenade and having it explode on my person. Semper Fi Kyle Carpenter. Hard ass elite.
