Nice video Last year I caught several 3-4 lb Snake Heads I skinned them , carefully scaled the skin and tanned the skin I used part of one side to cover a knife sheath
Great show. I caught a 10 pound snakehead at a fish farm/restaurant in Hangzhou, China when we were visiting my wife's family there. It was absolutely a blast catching them and one of the most delicious fish I've ever eaten. Man do they have sharp teeth. They were smashing three inch shad swimbaits. They munch live goldfish too. Love your guys show....it must be great doing what you both love to do. Keep on keeping on brothers and sisters! God bless you and your beautiful family.
So, the snakehead is an "air breather" and that may explain the long cavity that runs the length of the body, right behind the gills called the suprabranchial chamber for respiration. They come to the surface or water and take a big gulp. As for taste, (I also put some "Slap Yo' Mamma" on my fish) but does the snakehead taste more like a "Flounder" kind of taste good? Or "Tilapia" taste good? Thanks for the videos. Always envious!
@@COLE_and_JAY Well, I have never had walleye (lived in the South all my life) ... Is it as good as say freshwater Rainbow trout? Honestly, I don't like fish to have a "fishy" taste. Thanks for helping.
Caught snakeheads in canal in south Florida years ago, brought to a restaurant that cleaned and cooked your catch. When we brought them in they told us, your gonna like these!! They were right👍
I live in Asia those snakeheads are a delicay in many Asian countries especially the larger fish . Good catch ! Next time make yourself a nice snakehead Po Boy sandwhich !!
Bad news on y'alls lake place going into dry dock heard they been thinking about draining it. But be good opportunities for a bunch of good videos on the draining and after. Will that drain grassy lake to? Palarm and those other creeks will still have water flow I would guess. Also I would guess be a lot of stuff show up with the water gone hope you show some if that to.
All of you have seen these videos in Asia how they catch snakeheads over there? They did a hole, put coke, fanta orange, and then mentos, and these snakeheads come up out of the ground and they grab them.... Strangest videos ever!
Thank God you didn't try to catch the cottonmouth. I don't think my under drawers could have taken it. Bro, grab a can of skeeder repellant. Just in case you end up like that again.
Jay and Cole, I grew up watching Bill Dance fishing. The best moments were when they "included Bloopers" in the video's. I suspect you have many on the "cutting room floor". You should include those at the end of your videos for fun.
That bowfin we call them mudfish down here in sw Florida n that cottonmouth is the only snake I kill they are super aggressive n will chase you been chased numerous times by them
Great video.l live in the low country of South Carolina. We have a lot of bowfin. They taste great if prepared right. After you bleed them don't put them on ice or in water. Filet them like you did the snakehead but don't wash them or put them in water they will soak up the water. That's what makes them mushy. Fry them or grill them and they will be flaky as bass.
Snakehead are invasive but 25+ years of research since they were introduced in Cambridge MD has shown they dont disrupt the ecosystem like originally thought. They are very picky eaters and very skittish. Here on the east coast (I'm in DE) we arent required to kill them. They are my favorite fish to catch and they are absolutely delicious.
Ive seen a couple folk try bowfin and be deeply disappointed. While I am sure there are folk with ways to fillet and fry, I have to wonder though, what if you threw them in a blender and made fish balls with them instead. Fish cakes and crab cake and stamp-and-go, French, English, Portuguese, Taiwanese a world of options and recipes out there.
We catch bowfin here and they are definitely delicious when fried properly. (If you can get past the jelly like texture of the meat when it's being fileted.) Reminds me of the chicken in a broccoli 🥦 and chicken dish from a Chinese restaurant.
I truly love bass, crappie fishing, but my favorite thing to do is Swamp fishing. Great job Cole. I'm glad you left the moccasin alone. God bless you guys
Brother you need to come to Baltimore, Maryland if you want to catch Northern Snakehead!! Went to Florida a few weeks ago chasing Bullseye and had a blast!!
If you go to South Florida, hook up with either Deermeatfordinner or Blue Gabe, both are UA-camrs. I pretty sure they can hook you up with a Snakehead.
I loved the video alot but when is going to be time for Walleye you need to fill up your freezer with them As always thank you for all your hard work making awesome videos hugs and kisses to the little ones .
I haven't had it yet, but it is suppose to be way better than catfish or even crappie. More like grouper. Of course I never thought crappie were really any better than any sunfish or bass.
I've seen other people say the same thing about invasive species (snakeheads) then people talked to the actual enforcement that said it wasn't actually illegal to release back to the same water but it was frowned upon though. It was illegal to move them from one spot to another though. I wonder if that's the way it is with yalls snakehead. Now I know Louisiana does have a a 💯 kill order on a Rio grande.
You are 100 percent correct..you can release snakehead in the spot you caught it but you can't transport one alive or release in any other body of water...all I fish for
@@rockbreaker9310 yep unless you're in a state they are native too then those states don't regulate the transporting of them. But i don't know of any states right off that's its legal to move snakehead or bowfin lol. We have tons if bowfin in reverse and can't transport those either unless dead. Most call them mud fish here.
Bowfin are not invasive and data shows that snakeheads have had no negative impact on natives as far as eating other game fish. Up on the east coast they are a sought after eating fish.

@COLE_and_JAY no way that tastes as good as a walleye

I want to go down there and catch some! And peacocks and other cichlids too!
Caught peacocks but no chiclids
Where was Mamasox on the taste test??!!
Looks good
So looks like its slime is on par with a pike, which are very good eating.
Almost like catching a coelocanth!
I wish you had caught that snake that was in the road. Did you ever think about catching that an showing us? Video was awesome!!
I didn’t have the tools and there wasn’t a stick around for me to quickly grab. That cottonmouth was on the move and I just let it go haha
@@COLE_and_JAYsmart man.

funny watching ya with snakes,, gar , shoe pics ,etc,, not much of that in northern Wisconsin,

It looks like a snake rib cage

Bowfin are insane...caught alot of them in back bay va back in the day fishing for bucket mouths!
How do you get the slime off?
Pour boiling water over them
What's up Cole ✊ wow those snakeheads are taking over. I thought that they were just in the southern states. They did look good fried up ✌️
I am in a southern state haha
@@COLE_and_JAY well damn 😂
Yes, I would love to see the other snakehead species. I've never seen the Florida version.
Being from Louisiana, I have tried alot of different things, but snakehead is one I have never caught or tried. May have to put that on the list.
Do catching, cook snake head

How is baby summer doing
They seem to secret slime like fisheels do.
How did the snake head get here?
Definitely catch bullseye and peacock bass, and I agree snakeheads are one of my favorite fish to eat.
Cole is that a swamp? What is it used for? I noticed some pumps and tanks.
It’s just a swampy creek. There are some
Reservoirs on the other side of the pumps they use to irrigate some crops

I was there in 2016 on a college trip and that’s all I wanted to do but didn’t get a chance. Definitely high on the bucket list!!
Great video Cole!
Nice catch Cole 👌 would like too see more catch and cook. SNAKE HEADS
Depending where they are they, bowfin, are native in many North American juridstictions. Where as snakehead are invasive to all of North America.
Snakehead fish now that's different . I appreciate you showing how to clean them. That's interesting!

What’s wrong with the air condx in your truck ?

That is the slimmest fish I have seen you catch. Hi to J and Cy and Summer. Hope all are doing well. Take care ❤

A lot of better fish to eat.
Who the heck is releasing these fish to places like Arkansas! Say goodbye to your native fish!
missed so many a fish on that frog , don't even use it anymore
I couldn’t eat that snakefish just because of the slime. Ewww!
Whereabouts in Arkansas are you fishing for your snakehead? And how are they for eating?
In Thailand they are considered the best fish to eat!
I want to go there for the giant snakeheads!
Is this the lake they are draining if so won't these fish just die why don't you keep everything
This is a roadside ditch
@@COLE_and_JAY thanks
They are cool looking fish. I enjoyed this one buddy.
Why do you not start at the gills?
Where's Jay
Very similar to the ariapima. hope I spelled that right.
How do you release a snakehead when they are dead
Release them in the hot grease
It is strongly suggested to kill them and ILLEGAL to transport them alive.
I keep the ones I catch for the table.
Are there regulations for snakeheads in Arkansas?
You must be fishing in low oxygen water.
Extremely low right now
I would love to catch some snakes head
Where were you at
Stupid fish! Lol! I'd like to try them also. Thanks! Jonesy
Bowfin are as bad as Jewfish they eat everything ..2 species we don't need
