    As I lay dying was probably the biggest pioneers in the Metalcore Genre, I love them and this is their best album IMO

    • @Ober1kenobi
      @Ober1kenobi 4 роки тому +11

      I love them too, definitely my favourite band, I can’t say it’s my favourite Album though, it’s Very Solid, might be Second for me
      An Ocean Between Us will always be Number 1 for me.
      FWC and SAS was them finding their Sound, AOBU was where they perfected it. TPR was definitely better than Decas and Awakened, I felt those albums.. I dunno, but yeh, this is definitely a Huge Return to form for AILD. The track Redefined was like the perfect ODE to AILD of Past. The chorus is Very AOBU.
      There’s also a 30 Second shoutout to Austrian Death Machine in Gatekeeper Starting at 2:08 :)
      You can clearly tell that’s Austrian Death Machine Riffage, the whole style for that 30 seconds turns into a more thrash metal sound, it’s beautiful lol

      @@Ober1kenobi damn you're right that is a great album.
      I think this Album hits me a bit more cause it's about leaving your old self behind, learning from your mistakes and striving to create a new an better you without denial of who you were.
      Album came out right at a time in my life where I was going through that and it really helped me get through it I think.
      Yea and to your points I think that is another reason I dug this album cause it almost felt like a "Best of" Album but with fresh content. It's classic AILD but evolved.

      Truth. You hear it being tried now by others because they've perfected "the" metalcore sound.

    Josh's voice (bassist) is the metalcore standard for cleans. He has a great tone.
    As I Lay Dying is more straight up metalcore where August Burns Red is like metalcore+
    AKA progressive metalcore

    • @nathannewton1643

      Justin G I would agree however I do think Josh has very unique vocals, he has a raspiness to his voice which you don’t really hear a lot in these bands plus his range is incredible, a lot of clean singers strain way to much when they hit higher notes but his sounds so natural 🙌🏼

    August Burns Red got some of their inspiration from AILD. AILD are the kings of metalcore. React to Nothing Left. Then a follow up reaction of The Sound of Truth. They are some of their older songs and, in my opinion, some if their best work. The videos go together and are amazing!

    You said it was predictable and you liked that. That’s basically As I Lay Dying in a nutshell but in a great way imo. They don’t do a bunch of crazy off timed stuff, or venture to far off. They know what they are good at which is great metalcore and they stick to their formula for it in the best way! Dudes have been my favorite band for years. 2:23 well, yes and no. What you hear when listening to August Burns Red could basically be As I Lay Dying. So given the fact you never listened to AILD before, or dont remember any song from them, you could think you hear ABR when listening to AILD, but it's the other way around. AILD are the kings of Metalcore and an inspiration for bands like August Burns Red and others.
