Are you trying to make a pendant with a heart shaped cabochon? This is a good basic wrap: ua-cam.com/video/aqp10UhptiE/v-deo.html In the video I use an oval, but it can be done with heart shaped cabochon instead.

Well I finally completed my heart bail donut. But I can see the wire circle on the back, I am assuming that I wire wrapped the bail to long and of course I have a little fat heart instead of a nice slender heart like yours. Better Luke next time i suppose. At least I got the wrapping pretty decent 😂

Putting tape on the pliers can protect the wire from being scratched. Electrical tape might be best because it has some cushion to it.
yes, definitely a good alternative if you don't have nylon pliers. Painter's tape seems to leave the least amount of sticky residue.
