Killing Floor 2 may seem like a rather simple horde shooter, but higher difficulties certainly expose a different side to the game. So what are some of the best tips and bits of advice on how to play on Suicidal and HoE? In this video we go over that and more!

This game could use a Bestiary as a menu in-game listing and categorizing all the special abilities , strengths , weaknesses etc. because as of now, people have to dig it up via the KF2 wiki (or videos such as this) which resluts in a lot of people not knowing that its kinda pointless tyring to kill Scrakes with non RPG explosive weapons or setting them on fire OR that they only enrage when damaged enough. They could simply add "goals" to it like "kill X Scrakes to unlock the next detail about them, etc.
I don't say KF2 Wiki or vidoes are inferior, but this could be a small QoL improvement for the game.

SUPPORTS AND DEMOS PLEASE step away from the trader pod when you're done your shopping. Some of your teammates might not have taken your grenade/ammo handouts that wave, and being close to the pod keeps players from grabbing it. You get one handout each wave, so missing one of those can drop efficiency.

Hell yeah, this really hurts a team if a Sup or Demo don’t play their role properly. Some of us will put off immediately resupplying from these 2 bees we may not need it yet, and want more efficiency. Then we have more dosh to buy our own things and share our dosh with you, and it decreases the likelihood of anyone dying a little. On higher difficulties this is very necessary unless you’re world class, and most of us aren’t in the .25%.

Solid video, Rich. I'd be very interested to see a compiled guide based around "tech" that makes this game more efficient and easier on higher levels. For example, shotgun jumping, heal/parry/reload canceling, heal juggling, infinite darts on SWAT, damage surfing and air strafing, things like that. While you go into some detail on your perk-specific guides, they're a tad old and new players might not know about these hidden mechanics.

Man, the solo jump from Suicidal to HoE is a doozy. The hardest thing is the trash zeds sprinting around at Mach 12, constantly hemming me in, hitting me by surprise from the side and back, and generally keeping me on the back foot constantly. It hurts my accuracy too, which means I spend too much ammo early waves and end up with low money and low ammo mid-game.
That said, I freaking love how KF2 mainly increases difficulty not by the typical lazy method of "more health and more damage for enemies, less health and less stuff for you", but instead adds speed, numbers, aggression, behavior changes, and composition changes to make it harder. For solo, enemies on HoE only have something like 50% more health than an enemy on Normal, which is a very small increase compared to a lot of games that increase enemy health by orders of magnitude to artificially boost difficulty, but end up just making bullet sponges.

    • @spudbar4620
      @spudbar4620 4 роки тому +36

Wholeheartedly agree, though KF2 does have some atrocious artificial difficulty on HoE and even Suicidal, mainly the way the AI director gets a hard-on every time you so much as approach the corner of another hallway. Not sure why they designed it this way, but it seems the game is hard set on spawning a wave of enemies in front of your face if you're trying to change positions, which for me ends up being two autoraged FPs (followed by more FPs/QPs/Scrakes around the next corner after having to retreat from that). Just waits for the last possible second it can spawn something without you seeing, and you can end up having your face getting bashed in before you even hear the global spawn cue.

Well it's always adaptation. It also depends on the perk, but tipically aim perks like gunslinger and sharpshooters are harder for people who aren't used to fps games and/or have good aim. It comes to training and knowing the maps, Spillway for example it's an excellent map because you can pretty much camp on the ramp area knowing for sure that won't come any zed from behind. Also solo will always be easier than multiplayer, because you can have bad teammates, the health for most zeds are way higher and there is a lot more of them.
      TLDR: git gud

HoE is RNG bs sometimes. You're fine one second, and the next 15 zeds spawns in the shadow of your ass and instakill you. Special mention to edar trappers, or edars in general who are just unfun to play against because of how inconsistent the ttk seems to be to take them down, even when shooting directly at their core.

One thing I would like is less but more powerful enemies, the difficulty seems to solely depends on how much shit the game can spawn at once and it can devolve into a clusterfuck with them coming from every direction. Instead of enemies that you respect it’s like hey here’s 15 crawlers also they do 30 damage a strike enjoy. It’s ridiculous the trash is more powerful than the large enemies. Oh, and bashing, ALOT of people have never found their bash key, and it's super useful. These are basic things, but i feel they're far more valueable on higher difficulties. You can get by on normal and hard never healing your teammates or having pushed passed a scrake by bashing him. Here's a few pointers from a veteran SWAT:
    1. Ease into the harder difficulties, you'll have a rough time going straight from normal to HoE. Once you find you're able to manage a difficulty, turn it up one level.
    2. Learn how to heal and reload cancel. The less down time you have, the less damage you'll take. When I first started doing the higher difficulties I just couldn't stay alive, then it was much less stressful when I learned how to do these two things.
    3. Forget upgrading SWAT weapons. The ammo pool is just far too low for only two weapons. I'd recommend running either a MP5/P90/Kriss or H&K/P90/Nail combo. The former being for coop, and the latter for solo

    Pickups:
When picking up a new weapon from random spawns on the map, it always comes with a fair share of ammunition. If the game is still in it's early stages, or you figure you can make the T1 weapon you picked up work for at least this wave, spending that ammunition before selling the weapon is more efficient. Whether selling an empty weapon or a fully stocked weapon, the amount of dosh you get back is the same.
When you find an ammo box on the map, temptation is always there to pick it up. From my experience these give 1-2 clips of ammunition to every one of your weapons, plus one grenade. If you want to stretch your efficiency, you'll want to have as many weapons as possible in your inventory capable of receiving this ammunition, barring the 9mm. On HoE, though, I highly suggest giving these priority to support roles like Medics and possibly Sharpshooters, as the grenades they get from them (and possibly the grenades for the medic grenade launcher) are worth far more in their hands than, say, a Commando's.
Since ammo boxes restore ammo to every weapon in your inventory on pickup, Supports can help with the death penalty a little further by restoring some of the ammo of a teammate's dropped weapon. You shouldn't bank on deaths, as it's something to avoid, but in the event it happens a Support with spare inventory space is around they usually end up carrying dropped weaponry to the trader anyway.

Easiest way in my opinion is to learn the way zeds move on suicidal by playing a large open custom map. It’s the best way to see their movement, timing on large attacks, how fast they can catch up to you, rage timing etc.
On top of this, it gives you room to try out different weapons without shit spawning right behind you or near you.
After you get more confident with this, move onto tighter and tighter maps until you get proficient enough on any close quarters map.
As for teams, it helps to play with people you can communicate with over comms. You naturally learn through playing with your team.
Great video, wouldn’t mind seeing some guides for newer players about more specific abilities like boomstick hopping, off perk C4 for 3 players or less, Railgun cancels, and off perk weapon swaps.

  • @leonguyen896
    @leonguyen896 4 роки тому +7

These are not hard fast rules, just general guidelines and misc tips:
    1) Throw a couple spare dosh at the medic in the first few waves so they get higher tier weapons faster.
    2) Got an extra kilo and not sure what to get? Medic pistol is a great safety net. (Also, unlimited ammo during zed time also apply to healing darts. Could be helpful for gunslingers and SWATs.)
    3) Call out scrakes and fleshpounds when you see then approaching. Commonly "sc" and "fp" in chat.
    4) He mentioned it but imo it needs a bit more emphasis: scrakes enrage when they lose ONLY 10% of their hp. If your weapon has splash damage or spread, don't shoot at other zeds next to him unless you're very confident you won't hit him.
    5) For the first few waves, using up all your 9mm ammo before switching to your primary might be better, depending on your perk. OR switching between the two depending on enemy resistances.
    6) Sometimes bashing one or two lone trash zeds is better than shooting it, esp if you're playing a perk with low mag sizes and need to gtfo very quickly.
    7) He also briefly mentioned this but: also know your teammates' perks. Got a berzerker being a bro and holding an important chokepoint for everyone? Help him by prioritizing crawlers, bloats, and husks and heal him by pressing 4.
    8) Another important thing about team composition: there are perks that rely on getting headshots and perks that disrupt your teammates' aim (demo, firebug). If everyone else is bringing guns, don't be that one guy that chooses the demo just cuz it's more fun.
    9) Prioritize large targets during zed time. Leave trash zed for your commando.
    10) Give away all of your spare dosh before the boss wave. Don't throw it on the floor. Give it directly to people still on the trader. Just a bit faster that way.
    11) Some weapons are just much better when upgraded like the deagle and MP5 compared to other upgraded weapons. Know if your perk has any.
    12) You can heal your teammates by pressing 4.
    13) You can parry with your melee weapon. Jumping before getting hit can give you a nice push away from enemies.
    14) The support has a neat trick with the DBS and doomstick: you can jump and alt-fire beneath you to jump over zeds.
    15) Support and demo should stand close by the trader so players can get their free drop. Close enough to be convenient, far enough to not accidentally bring up the trader.
    16) If your team is getting overrun, sometimes you can get a better angle and shot placement by going after the zeds chasing after your teammate rather than the ones chasing you.
    17) Prioritize the normal zeds during boss waves. Only one or two people should be kiting the boss and juggling aggro.
    18) Play on the easiest map to get used to the difficulty spike, which imho is Zed Landing. Nuked, Burning Paris, Desolation, Farmhouse, Prison, and Outpost are also easy maps.
    19) Don't shoot headless Bloats. They can explode and obscure vision. Don't get greedy.

    1. In the menu enable the kill feed, this will give you more information if you killed a zed or not.

Also the reason why its fun & mostly all play co op as compared to solo as everything from mechanics to whole design's based on simplicity. its not bad thing being an easy games that revolves around simplicity as most played game or popular games in general revolves around that be its any genre fps, tps, mmo, rpg.... when looking in its original context.

I hadn't played Sharpshooter at all until today but got a really easy win on hard cause I had a good idea of my late game weapons and had good economy from using the pistol alot in early rounds.

Using the 9mm to shoot clots in the head is a good tip. 9mm bullets are cheap, so you are saving/ earning money by using a low damage weapon to kill trash.
Clots are weak, move slow, and their heads explode with 1 shot. Using 9mm as a backup is great for this perks: sharpshooter (1st skill to the right)/ gunslinger, commando or swat (these last two perks: mostly if you are using bonus 9mm damage on the skill tree.)

I know you have that in other videos and it's really helpful, but maybe more focused on each type of boss too or situation also. Also, I don't remember playing HoE but I did do it, it seems. I mained gunslinger on ps4 and was pretty good at it. Also, I think that console is more forgiving with headshots as it seems that bullets track the head more compared to pc but not sure.

Takedowns are a hidden gem for Berserker especially. They’re so fun, they really cut down the time on killing a Scrake or Fleshpound if you’re alone or with another trash killer, they’re somewhat technical, and seriously why does a T5 Crovel kill a Scrake in a second?!

Question for anyone reading this, what do you do with your leftover cash going into the final boss round? If your teammates don't need a donation and your current loadout is already upgraded to the max, what do you do? I always buy a high powered weapon and toss it on the ground somewhere nearby the trader. I have played several games and died during the boss round due to running out of ammo. Nothing sucks more than dying on a boss round with no ammo and a bunch of money.

What M K said. Honestly, playing harder difficulties on a lower level is extremely difficult not just because there are more zeds and they hit harder, you're also lacking special passive abilities like increased damage and flame resistance. Play on a level that is comfortable for you. In terms of firebug, generally, people run the following skills: High capacity, Ground fire, Zed shrapnel, heatwave, and pyromaniac, though the first and second skills vary a bit. Don't forget at caulk and burn is one of the best pyro weapons. Good luck on your journey!

Don't move while shooting. Don't pull the trigger as fast as you can. Try alt aiming. Lead your shots. Learn how to time your reloads. Move to get a better angle. Most of your shots should be headshots.
Gunslingers are one of the top tier perks imho. You can have the dual 1911s, dual deagles, and dual magnums and quickly switch between them depending on what enemies you encounter or if you have an empty mag. Fast movement means you can easily get out of hairy situations. Unlimited ammo during zed time is perfect for clearing a couple of scrakes and fleshpounds.
The main drawbacks of gunslingers are low mag size, long-ish reload, low ammo pool, and kinda expensive ammo. That means you shouldn't be missing much of your shots. Think of it as a sharpshooter but with a lot more flexibility at the cost of less specialization.
