I've never seen pro drifting before, but after watching this video, this has to be the most beautiful motorsport. Maybe not the fastest or most exciting, but definitely the most beautiful for sure.
It is the first time that I see something related to drift irl and I love it, blows my mind how the car that is in the back manage to drift with all that smoke
Denofa was robbed.. Really hope to see the judging get revamped before it ruins formula drift. Would be ideal to see some veteran drifters on the panel.
@@formuladrift isnt it supposed to be lead vs lead, chase vs chase and overall? Chelsea had better line angle, and proximity, so even if you call the proximity a wash because of an "over-decel" (debatable) he still did better by all other metrics. This reasoning sounds like a cop out. Noone thinks that shouldve been a legit OMT, including Ryan, who was even pretty harsh with his commentary of the battle but still gave the win to denofa. It's not like the majority of fans are in agreement with the call and a few Chelsea fanboys are bitching. The vast majority of fans (who know how the sport works) are in agreement that it was a bad call. Disappointed that the only explanation is "Chelsea slowed down too much on entry and that's why he walked Sorensen." That still leaves plenty of criteria that should've gone in favor of Denofa.
@@richardcarvalho4134 If what was said actually happened, then Sorensen never got a chance to really chase, so that’s out the window. Now compare the leads. They both had mistakes. 2 think they were similar. One didn’t.
@@formuladrift I would agree with your argument if Sorensen got choked up and straightened or went off course, or hit denofa. But he chased fine behind Chelsea, he didnt "not get a chance to chase" he got gapped, it happens all the time. I've never seen that get counted against the lead driver. All the drivers enter in different ways. To say he over decelled and that ruined Brandon's run, seems kind of insane. Did the judges have access to real time speed data when they made that call? If not how could you say if he over decelled? It really sounds like an excuse for a bad call that FD doesnt want to own up to, so you come up with some erroneous reason that would support the call. We've all cover our asses when we were wrong before. I know what it looks like cause I've done it. Lol
I haven't been keeping up with drifting the last time I watched drifting it was when Mad Mike,Tanner Foust and Vaughn Gittin Jr was doing the things the real og
1:30 that save is so unappreciated. Redirecting momentum when you've entered a drift already already is almost impossible, I don't know how the driver managed to avoid that collision. I thought they were 100 percent going to crash.
FD desperately needs some new judges. I stopped watching this sport a while ago after being a huge fan because of it. I come back and it's still the same thing.
This one doesn’t have wall barriers like in LBC. I was in LbC and it was wicked seeing then glide along those walls with perfection and of course, some excitement when they crash against it.
I wouldn't say that exactly. He is a dynamic driver that probably could win every time, if he wanted to, but he even admits he gets the best of himself sometimes and puts himself in compromising positions. When he drives more restrained, he wins. Take this year's Seattle for example, he said just that.
@@formuladrift Thank you for the detailed comment, touche sir, but also we see what we see in the heat of the moment and I can't imagine how stressful your guys job is but we need as Formula Drift fans new judges, their were runs that were clearly called wrong and i just don't understand sometimes what was going through their heads.
@@daftbenson For sure. I appreciate your understanding and empathy for that. It's an extremely tough and stressful job and you can imagine that they are trying to do everything in their power to make sure results are consistent and accurate. Our job is to make sure the people we hire have integrity can make those tough calls. Along the way, by the very nature of drifting, things are going to divide people, as we understand that, but as with a lot of things in this sport, we are on this ride together to try and match fans intuitions with what drivers want and what makes for fun to watch competitions.
@@formuladrift That was such an awesome response. Thank you guys, I've been into drifting since 2010 I just can't afford it lol I'll continue to be a fan of Formula Drift, can't wait for next season 🤘🤘🤘
Branden didn't do well he lost the first set of runs and some how got an OMT? It's funny how they put it in their highlights as if they aren't aware of everyone calling out the BS call they made against denofa.
@@NatedoGP Sorensen did well for a newer driver at such a young age. That is undeniable. But on the first battle with Denofa, Sorensen was mediocre in comparison. (Its a given that he is way better than I would be if I jumped in there, so respect to him, hes a great driver for his age.) It was just egregious to see that result in a OMT.

100% Denofa smoked Sorensen in every aspect, I thought it was clear as day. Was extremely shocked to see the decision
Like Mohan and Burkett at Long Beach. They really need a new jury
@@Chris_Mathews 100%, he had better line, and angle on his lead and better proximity and line on his chase. No way in hell that shouldve been omt!

The OMT for the Denofa run was disapointing...How was this OMT.
Comes down to whether or not Denofa over decelled after initiation and then was able to walk Sorensen

People think the judges are biased. I just think they are inexperienced.
Question, why do some cars produce so much more smoke then others.
Wheel speed mostly, that’s how they tell when someone lifts off throttle too, their smoke line will start to fade
Soft tires and fast wheels!
Wheel speed, vehicle weight, throttle commitment and tire manufacturer.
I got to ride in a few of the falken cars
