The song tells of a woman who moves to Austin after breaking up with her boyfriend. Less than a year later, she decides to contact him. She calls numerous times and is greeted by his answering machine that explains where he could be. The message always ends with the following phrase: "And P.S. if this is Austin, I still love you," which is referring to the female as Austin.
When you get lost….go back and relisten. The song started by saying she left to find herself…and he figured she went back to the city of Austin because she talked about it all the time. So when he left his voice message, he referred to her as the city she was in.
The woman he loved moved to Austin,TX , so when he refers to Austin ,Shelton is speaking of his girlfriend (Austin]. She calls him a year later, but gets his answering machine. At the end of each message, he says if this is "Austin" I still love you. The last phone call is his girl on the phone(no machine) realizing the time she has wasted, and that she still loves him still, too.
Ok y’all don’t speak Okie, so lemme break it down for you. Ain’t nobody named Austin, he’s just calling her that cause that’s where she’s from and went back to. She walked away from the relationship to clear her head. She calls him a year later and hears in his message, “If this is Austin I still love you.” When she calls back and gets the answering machine again, totally different message, same exact ending. So obviously dude updates his outgoing message all the time and then ends ends it up with “If this is Austin I still love you”. She leaves her number, he called back, she pretended for a min to be an answering machine, then says “Psych!!! It’s me I love you too!” Country love song happy ending! The end.
His girl moved away to Austin, Texas and that was mentioned in the first part of the song. She called him a year later from Austin and on his answering machine, she would hear his recordings for incoming calls and they always ended with 'P.S. if this is Austin, I still love you.' referring to her being in Austin. So you hear two of his recordings she heard over 2 calls to him. She leaves just her number the second time and he returned it Sunday evening. He calls and the last verse is her live on the phone and she finishes by saying 'BTW boy, this is no machine your talking to. This is Austin and I still love you.' He had held on for a year waiting on her. True love for sure.

Austin is the girl. He’s singing his answering machine message. If it’s Friday I’m at the bar if it s Tuesday I’m bowling and if it’s Austin ( CALLING) I still love you. And he said he’ll get to his messages on Sunday. Then she called and just left her number then he called it and she said my heart is still yours and this isn’t a machine it’s (actually) Austin.

A mistake in breaking up, he put a new outgoing message on his answering machine: “By the way - if this is Austin, I still love you.” Both missed one another.Blake identified with the song right away. “I’ve had girlfriends I’ve gotten back together with after we’d broken up, and it never worked out,” he recalls. “But ‘Austin’ relates to all of those situations, whether it works out or not. “Austin” is about a Nashville songwriter who broke up with his girlfriend. When she ended up moving to Austin, he realized the gravity of his mistake. He then changed his answering machine to say, “By the way - if this is Austin, I still love you.”
She was calling him the first two times when the machine says if this is Austin I still love you. Austin was her not him. Cause it said she waited by the phone on Sunday evening and this is what he heard then she says can't you tell this is Austin and I still love you after she said everything else.
"Austin" (female) leaves to find herself. He figured she'd gone back to Austin, so that is what she is referred to as in this song. After a year, she calls him up. She gets the recording where he states "P.S. I still love you." In the second verse, she hears the same and leaves nothing but her phone number. In the final verse, He calls the number back. In this verse, she is doing the communication: "...and by the way boy, this is no machine you're talking to. Can't you tell, this is Austin, and I still love you."
Austin is the girl, she had left a year before, so now she is calling him. When she hears the end of the answering machine recording, she can't believe he still loves her. The last one was where she calls him to tell him she still loves him.
The story is about a woman he refers to as Austin who left the singer. He changes his voice mail message every day telling the caller where he is and what he is doing. At the end of the each day, he leaves a message for 'Austin', the love of his life. 'Austin' finally calls him and she cannot believe that he STILL loves her. She calls him back 3 days later and leaves him a message in return and tells him she should have listened to her heart and realized she loved him all along. **PS, if this is 'Austin', I still love you** the singer talking to the caller, 'Austin'.

The lady was from Austin, Texas and he never gave up on the love that he had for her. Therefore, Austin is the place where he figured that she'd went back to. Either way a person looks at it, love is somethin that don't just stop. It takes time and when someone has that much love for another... It has to be
I've been meaning to ask, Asia is that you singing your opening song? The girl talked about Austin so much that became her nickname. And he is still waiting for her. You got it twisted again She is "Austin" because he said in the first verse she was always talking ABOUT Austin that became HER nickname by him. We do not know either of their real names. How y'all can tell what the lyrics are in a Rap song and not be able to get a C&W songs lyrics is beyond me. I love you both you are so much fun. Even at the end BJ you still didn't have it. Let's try again NOBODY"S name is Austin. SHE the girl TALKED about Austin so much that HE gave HER a nickname of Austin. So HIS name is? NOBODY knows. HER REAL name? NOBODY knows. HER nickname is AUSTIN. So when his answering machine answered he said to the answering, 'If this Austin (her nickname) I am still in love with you. So she called HIM twice and got the answering machine TWICE the second time she left her number and nothing more. Then he called her and it sounded like it was HER answering machine but at the end she said it wasn't a machine it was her. I need a nap, I'm 71 and not in good shape.
As you've already been told.. she left him.. " I need time to think".. but he never gave up on her.. he set his VM to always end with "I still love you" in case she ever calls. She's shocked at first call that he's still there and still loves her. So second call she hears again that he loves her..and leaves her number. He then calls her number but she answers and says similar type as his VM but end with that it's really her, not a VM and she still loves him too. I didn't get the confusion, but I guess first time hearing?? The first line says she moved to Austin.
The girl is Austin not because her name is Austin but because after they broke up because she needed time she went back to Austin like she always talked about wanting to do and a year later she called him for the first time in a year and she was surprised to hear on his answering machine that he left her he said PS if this is Austin I still love you and then at the end she called him back to reply to the message on his answering machine she heard and she said this is Austin if you're calling about my heart it's still yours and she should have listened to it a long time ago and she would have known where she belongs with him so when she was driving she was going back to him
3:34 No!!! She’s the one calling him and listening to his answering machine. She’s from Austin, that’s where he thought she went back to. She is “Austin”. She’s calling him.
Austin is the woman. She left him and he assumed she had gone back to Austin, so it was like a code name. And the messages were outgoing messages on an answering machine (talk about dating a song!) So she calls and hears his plans and then hears her code name and that he loves her. ❤️
Everyone explained it perfectly, and I noticed you did Seminole Wind by John Anderson, You should do his song, “Swingin” which was one his better known more popular songs, very upbeat and fun southern, country song!!! The original video definitely gives it more explanation!!
His girl moved to Austin. He loves her and misses her hence the P.S. if this is Austin I still love you. She realized she loves him just as much hears his voicemail announcement chokes the 1st time. She leaves just her number after detailed breakdown of why & what he's doing adding the P.S. again. She answers admitting she's Austin and still loves him too! Shwew
The male is still in love with a girl who left to find herself and to clear her mind. The male leaves a message, knowing that other people will hear is committed to Austin, with the hope she will hear the message when she calls--someday. When the girl does calls, she become aware that he is so in love with her while he saying in his message that he is still alive and living but so deep in love with the girl who went to find herself. The girls is surprised that the male, after such a long time is still waiting for her to call. The males has fallen head over heels and is waiting on that call from the girl. Just imagine someone wants to start a new relationship with another person and calls then hears this message-I'm in love with some one else, what would the new caller think?----now imagine the love commitment is to Austin which could have been a code between them? This song is made to touch your heart and soul expressing how much this man deeply loves this girl.
Ya'll are really confused...LOL. She left, moved back to Austin. She called him and each time got his voicemail. At the end of each one he ended with, "If this is Austin, I still Love you". Finally she left her # and he called her. He thought it was voicemail but it was really her and she told him she still loved him too.

She left without leavin' a number
Said she needed to clear her mind
He figured she'd gone back to Austin
'Cause she talked about it all the time
It was almost a year before she called him up
Three rings and an answering machine is what she got
If your callin' 'bout the car, I sold it
If this is Tuesday night, I'm bowlin'
If you've got somethin' to sell your wastin' your time, I'm not buyin'
If it's anybody else wait for the tone you know what to do
And P.S., if this is Austin, I still love you
The telephone fell to the counter
She heard but she couldn't believe
What kind of man would hang on that long
What kind of love that must be
She waited three days and then she tried again
She didn't know what she'd say
But she heard three rings and then
If it's Friday night, I'm at the ball game
And first thing Saturday, if it don't rain
I'm headed out to the lake and I'll be gone all weekend long
But I'll call you back when I get home on Sunday afternoon
And P.S., if this is Austin, I still love you
Well, this time she left her number
But not another word
Then she waited by the phone on Sunday evening
And this is what he heard
If your callin' 'bout my heart, it's still yours
I should've listened to it a little more
Then it wouldn't have taken me so long
To know where I belong
And by the way, boy, this is no machine your talkin' to
Can't you tell, this is Austin, and I still love you
I still love you
(Maybe this will help y'all!! )

Then he called her and it sounded like it was HER answering machine but at the end she said it wasn't a machine it was her. I need a nap, I'm 71 and not in good shape.
He was talking about Austin Texas that is where she was from he figured she went back to Austin Y'all need to listen to the song all over again
The girl is Austin not because her name is Austin but because after they broke up because she needed time she went back to Austin like she always talked about wanting to do and a year later she called him for the first time in a year and she was surprised to hear on his answering machine that he left her he said PS if this is Austin I still love you and then at the end she called him back to reply to the message on his answering machine she heard and she said this is Austin if you're calling about my heart it's still yours and she should have listened to it a long time ago and she would have known where she belongs with him so when she was driving she was going back to him
Austin is the connection
3:34 No!!! She’s the one calling him and listening to his answering machine. She’s from Austin, that’s where he thought she went back to. She is “Austin”. She’s calling him.
she went back to Austin, so the phone calls were coming from Austin
Austin is the woman. She left him and he assumed she had gone back to Austin, so it was like a code name. And the messages were outgoing messages on an answering machine (talk about dating a song!) So she calls and hears his plans and then hears her code name and that he loves her. ❤️
Get a clue Austin is not the name of the girl. She left him to go to Austin. Listen to the damn song!
I was yelling at my phone the entire video. Got to the end of the video and they left still confused 🤦🏾🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was confused the first couple times I heard it too.

Everyone explained it perfectly, and I noticed you did Seminole Wind by John Anderson, You should do his song, “Swingin” which was one his better known more popular songs, very upbeat and fun southern, country song!!! The original video definitely gives it more explanation!!
This is Blake's best.
It was talking about the city Austin
That was one of his first songs
Eric Church "STICK THAT IN YOUR COUNTRY SONG "
Austin meaning the area code in Austin, TX where the girl lives.
Love the reactions two cool people
Yesssssss finallly Texas
His girl moved to Austin. He loves her and misses her hence the P.S. if this is Austin I still love you. She realized she loves him just as much hears his voicemail announcement chokes the 1st time. She leaves just her number after detailed breakdown of why & what he's doing adding the P.S. again. She answers admitting she's Austin and still loves him too! Shwew
Hahahaha you guys are all over the place with this one.
Country music is more complicated than most.
