What New Zealand needs is a pocket Fighter like the South Korean F/A-50 Golden Eagles, Italian M-346FA or the BAE Advanced Hawk. It would give them a pocket fighter to protect their Sovereignty.
There's no direct threat to New Zealand sovereignty right now, and our alliances with Australia and the US mean that the cost of fighter aircraft would not be justified, which is a shame because I would have loved to have seen the RNZAF roundel on an F-16 (which New Zealand was intending to buy before 2002)

There are no fighter jets in New Zealand Air Force. It means nobody can become a fighter pilot in New Zealand. These Texan aircrafts are just for training. The only planes New Zealand Air Force has are either transport or maritime patrol aircrafts.
