Clamshell bead tips are great to use with nylon, silk, and waxed linen or any other thin cording that you can tie a knot with.

I feel so silly. This was exactly what I needed ! I could not for the life of me get my finishing knot close enough to the beads. Thank you lol
😅 I have been playing with making jewelry since I was young and never knew what these things were in the box of findings my mom had; THIS is what I had been needing to know to keep all my creations together. Thank you UA-cam lol
Thanks so much. I purchased these because the label said "bead cover"...definitely not the bead covers in the tutorial I am following. Thanks to you I now know how to use for a future project..
Omg tysmmmm for making this video I really needed it 😊😊😊
very easy and useful explanation, thank you 🙏🏼
Great tutorial. So positive. Thanks so much. 🌻
Thank you and thanks for watching!

So glad this helped!
just what i needed!! Thankyou!!
Thanks for sharing, I was clueless about to use clamshell bead which I bought from Michaels. Now It makes sense to me. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad this could help - you can check out our knotting with bead tips video if you need a more detailed video!
You're a great tutor. Thank you
You’re sweet, thank you.
Thank you for sharing this is valuable information. 😊
Thank you so muchh!💖
Thank you. I was struggling with this.
So glad this could help! We also have a more detailed video on how to use these bead tips in a knotting video of ours listed in the link above in the description of this video. Just if you want to take another look at it :D Happy Beading!
❤Nice tutorial. The necklace can break at the sliping the clasp over the thin piece .. it's fragile. There is another double type.
This video was very helpful! I recently bought a gorgeous vintage necklace on one of my trips and wanted to restring it, but my jewelry-making skills are very rusty and I was having trouble getting a snug fit when knotting. Could you add name and links of the cording and glue you recommend?
Thanks for showin I need to know what type strands are those
Very helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU!
You're welcome!

Awesome!! Hope you had a good Halloween!!
@@fireflycarrboro thank you, hope you did, too! The necklace came out great
great!! TY🫵🏼🙏🏼😀
Nice thing where can i buy clamshell beads
What kind of glue did you used?
Where do you get your clamshells? They seem higher quality than others I've seen.
Hi Heidi! We sell these on our website www.fireflycarrboro.com
You can get them at hobby lobby
What plier did you use to close the crimp? And can you use this type of crimp for wire jewelry?
I’m using a smooth jaw, chain nose plier. I’m not sure what you mean by wire jewelry? Do you mean with a flexible cable wire? Or with actual bendable wire? If with the cable wire, I have seen this bead tip used.
Hi :) Could this bead tip be used to cover a crimp bead?
I've seen people use these to cover crimp beads although I don't always recommend this method with a crimp bead as sometimes you can't get a great crimp and the wire can slide out.
If you're going to be using crimp beads, I recommend using the wire guard and crimp cover method - you can check out checking out our A How-To: Feel Good Pop {Necklace Kit} video, I've attached the link below:

@@fireflycarrboro thank you very much. I appreciate your help 🙏🏻
@@tomboytan33 of course! Happy Beading!
could you suggest the appropiate type and size of cord i switching to making bracelets with small 3 to 5 mm of sapphire, tourmaline etc precious beads would like to give a professional finish in will be using bead rips etc
Without seeing your beads, I can't say with 100% certainty, but if you're using nylon cording, you might have to use anywhere from a size 2 to a size 4 - I typically use Griffin Nylon cord.
can u use this with wire string?
I've seen some people use these with crimps and something like a steel, cable wire string. But I don't recommend that. These are mostly to be used with silk or nylon cording.
What's the size of this bead tip knot cover 3mm or 4mm
The one I use in the video is 3mm.
Can I use this on wires?
You can use it with cable wire and a crimp, although I don't always recommend that as the wire can slide out through the crimp bead and then out of the clamshell. However, I have seen jewelry finished that way.
@@fireflycarrboro thank you so much! This is so helpful 😍
What kind of glue it is?
I'm using a glue called Hypo Cement in this video.
@@fireflycarrboro Thank you for answering.😊
@@acharya2180 of course!
Is the clam shell strong enough to hold the clasp and the jump ring though ?? I feel like i dont trust it, plusbthe weight if the neclace ??
Sometimes the clamshell does open up if pulled too hard. Just like jump rings, there’s always a possibility they’ll open over time.
Yeah that is one of the reasons I never like to use it. I wonder if there is another thing like it but more secure. Do you know of any?
Hi I'm still having problems getting my single-strand knot close enough to the bead. Do you have another video that demonstrates the technique a little slower? Thank you.
I'm sorry! I know this video is a little fast - I will try and make a more detailed, real-time video in the next month or so. It might help to have a set of knotting tweezers or a beading awl to help with the process. I'll update soon! Thanks for your feedback :D
@@fireflycarrboro Great! Thank you!
@@eleanorpetracca6478 Hi Eleanor! I just uploaded an updated video teaching a knotting method. It also goes over how to use clamshell bead tips and is in "real" time. I hope this video will help! Let me know if you have any other questions.
@@fireflycarrboro I just watched it!! I have no more knotting problems. I have already tried the technique and it works great. Thank you very much for making the new video!!
@@eleanorpetracca6478 awesome!! Thanks for letting us know!

Couldn't you go any faster? I nearly saw how to do it. Ridiculous.
This video is hard to follow along to, yes. This is why in the description I say to take a look at one of my other videos on how to use a clamshell properly. Take a look at our knotting videos to see a slowed down version.
Thanks
