Hello Karate friends, Today I practiced 4 of my favorite shotokan karate kata. I need to improve many parts of my performance! But I want to share with you all that not every day, not every practice or training will be a 10 out of 10 performance. The journey of karate is lifelong and requires consistent effort. Please share with us what you all need to work on, or what you are currently practicing. Enjoy, and thank you for watching! Looking good there Sensei👍👍. Since my disability a few years ago, I have found it hard to train in any meaningful way. But I still enjoy karate through the many content creators on UA-cam and my extensive library of martial art books and videos. I'd like to become at some point a historical and knowledge expert on the subject. For now, I consider myself to be a white belt, and I am happy with whatever I can do. Oss👏👏
Thanks again, Sensei Jason. That video is great as a black belt workout and I will be trying it couple times a week. I really appreciate your doing the katas a bit slower which allows me to see the details of the mechanics. That’s hard work. Very motivating, Sensei. Let me know if you are in Southern California when you do a seminar and I’ll attend. 👍🏻
Before the summer break I will be testing for my nikyu. I will be required to show bassai dai, kanku day and jion. Plus all the heians and tekki shodan, both omote and ura. And that's just the kata part, there's a whole kihon and kumite part as well. Wish me luck!
I've done suparinpei in the past, but my style is shotokan, very different. I need to get in touch with the sensei who taught me so that I can perform it better.
I would like to subscribe just to remember my past and to build my child interested to do the same things 😉 thanks for all video, I wish my child will do as perfect as you 🙏
Hey Jason, a quick question on Jion and the transitions into the semi manji gamae after the first kiai. I have seen in done both ways, and even in your video you are more precise in the first transition - the one moving to the left- with a more pronounced shuto (almost as if going into a kihon shuto uke) and are virtually ignoring it in the second one that's moving to the right. I have had instructors who were adamant about making it as pronounced as much as possible both times, and others who didn't care too much. Even if you look at official JKA videos, the "blue videos" are kind of doing it the way you do it, and the more recent ones (filmed at the JKA honbu) pretty much ignore the transition altogether. Best Karate seems to make this transition extremely pronounced on both sides. What do you think is the best way and is it even important?
Well it’s good to be picture perfect when learning Kata, however when applying it in real time, even the greatest kata athletes fall short of perfect. When you practice slow it, always take your time to demonstrate the technique to its fullest capability.
easy: just use footwork, and stances medium: perform kata very slowly hard: perform each move with power, but go one count at a time difficult: perform whole kata, no pauses, with power
@@ULTIMATEKARATEOFFICIAL ua-cam.com/video/A00MUCgNMPU/v-deo.html In this video guy did this kata. By the way, hyakuchachiho (108-steps kata) is "elder brother" of godzyushiho kata series. If this idea is interesting for you, it will be great to see explanation of this hard kata from such awesome sensei as you) P. S. Thank you for unsu explanation, for now this is my favourite kata to relax, train and participate
What's up with everyone asking for Hyakuhachiho? haha that kata is not even accepted alongside the 26 traditional shotokan katas as far as I know. Also, I don't really get why people are so fond of those loooooong katas. hahaha

Also, I don't really get why people are so fond of those loooooong katas. hahaha
People just want to emulate what the've seen in WKF/Olympic style competition.
