Louise, this video couldn't have come at a better time. I've been a doctor for 20 years and last month finally admitted to myself that I'm not half and want a creative career. It's terrifying at the age of 45 to consider giving up everything and starting again but also exciting. Your story gives me hope so thank you.
Unfortunately our healthcare system has made it so that Drs and Nurses can no longer practice in a rewarding way.
Wow. A doctor who struggles? Wow. I live in the south of France, we must have a personal general physician. Ours is a 74 year old grandpapa with an OWN house on the promenade where he has his admission room. Works 3 days a week. We asked why does he still work, in France u go at 62, he said why not. Why not indeed
I'm 59 and I had to quit my horrid teaching job due to health reasons. I'm ready to jump into the void and start a new career as an artist. I wish you and myself both good luck and much success!
I'm 45 as well and I now fully realize just how much I would love to see success in my artwork. All the best to you! It's not too late for us!!
I'm turning 50 in September and quit my job last year to pursue art full time. It's scary but I absolutely made the right decision! You know in your gut what you need to do. I wish all the success to those of us who couldn't do it earlier for whatever reason ♥️
There are so many things to take away from this video but the one that stood out for me is the collaboration between you and your partner. Not everyone has that. You're both incredibly lucky
Thank you Lola. I agree and I couldn't have done it without him.❤️
There was no way I was going to let Louise give up on her dream and moving to Sydney was the perfect opportunity for both of us really. 🙂
@@DomDom282 You are both such lovely people and a wonderful example of what marriage partners are supposed to be to one another. Supportive, helping to make each other’s dreams come true. God bless both of you, your family that you both made together and your marriage.♥️
Aaawww!🥰🥰🥰
Aside from the fact that I think you are an excellent teacher (I taught college), I love your voice and never tire of listening to it! Why is it that some of the lovliest people on earth think so little of themselves? (Takes one to know one!) 😉
Dear Louise! I am not a watercolor artist, but I listened to your videos while I paint, because I love the sound of your voice! 😂❤
Her voice sounds so soothing.
I so agree, love listening to her calm and relaxing voice! Great to hear her pursuit of the dream! It was the right decision!
I love your voice! Your art is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your story.
I'm where you were at the start. I'm planning to retire in about 3 years from a 39 yr nursing career that I no longer find fulfilling. I regret not following my heart when I choose my profession. God knows why he led me down this path in life. I'm thankful for what I've accomplished and for the opportunity to do what I love going forward.
I do as well... It is soothing. Relaxes me.
Hi Louise,
I’m new to your channel and I love your work-It’s so beautifully painted. I hope you don’t mind, but I’d love to stick around and see what else you’re painting and see what I can learn from you. Thank you for sharing your talent ❤
I used to be a pharmacist . I retired 5 years ago , moved in a small town where my husband can work from home . I’m 55 years old and it’s the first time that I feel that I can do what I truly love: paint, taking care of my cats and chickens and work in my garden. And I really love to watch you paint. Most of the time we don’t love the sound of our voice but I have to say that I find the sound of your voice very relaxing and it helps me focussing on my painting when I follow your Skillshare’s class. Have a lovely time painting!
I am a (soon to be unemployed) pharmacist in a small town with chickens. No cats though. I took up watercolour in January. Once the pharmacy collapses I will have heaps of time fir watercolour
I’m currently a pharmacist too which as you know is incredibly time consuming and often times extremely stressful but my passion was always art so I will look forward to a less stressful time when like you, I can follow my heart and paint til I can paint no more! Enjoy your retirement and happy painting! 😊
@@SarahNewburyArt Thank you ! I wish you a lot of peaceful time !
@@sharonbaker4114 Good plan ! Have a great time with your painting !
I'm so happy to see this comment as I'm pursuing this same path right now. Thank you.
Love how authentic you are. Thanks for sharing your story. Your voice is calming and kind. I'm so glad you took the plunge and helped us struggling artists.
Thank you Ginny. Me too, it's been a long journey but I'm glad I made it. I have met so many wonderful people. ❤️
The world is a more beautiful place because you bravely pursued your art! ❤ Thanks for sharing your story!
Awwww......thank you sweet Emily. 🥰😘
It's such a breath of fresh air to hear your story. I'm an old-ish woman too, with a tough life, fighting to build up a career at an age when other people start thinking about retirement, having to learn new things even though I'm burned-out. It's great to hear how you made it, and how supportive your husband is. All the best to you!
Thank you! I hope you keep at it. I know how blessed I am to have Dom in my life. I wish every body had a Dom in theres. ❤️
@@LouiseDeMasi
All the best to you, too! God bless you and bring you great success, fulfillment and joy! May He make a way for you to succeed and prosper, also! ♥️🌹
Very much like you
and to you x
You were fortunate to have a partner to support you. Five years is a long time to be unemployed and to develop a business, many people will not have that luxury. I am the sole breadwinner in my family, no one could give me five years off to develop an art business. I have had to wait until retirement, and now I am looking at developing a creative business. Thanks for sharing your journey ❤
I'm a little surprised it has taken so many years for you to share your story with us via UA-cam, but I'm glad you did. Your hard work has paid off, and it is well deserved.
It's been so long since I've seen you on YT, how have you been?
@@WeblightDreams Hiya! I now live in Australia. I don't make much fine art these days, but I've gotten into printing and painting 3D minis hehehe. I hope you are well.
@@aartadventure That is awesome. I am doing good too. 😊 I hope to buy a 3d printer later this year and print my own figures as well, not minis but I think they are very cool too.
Dear Louise, don’t be so critical of yourself. We love your work, teaching style and voice. The format and content of your videos is great. I have learned so much since I started in January. Had never done art before and had a painting in a local exhibition back in March. It proves anyone can learn to create art and that you are a great teacher.
Oh wow! Congratulations- I'm so impressed! Thank you very much Sharon.
Louise, you're one of the creators that got me into watercolors 4 years ago. Painting saved me. I think of you as my very own wise and patient art instructor even though you're on the other side of the world from me. Thank you.
You are such an inspiration to me. I am a full time nurse, and I truly love what I do. But, I have discovered watercolor painting and it is such a great stress reliever. Don’t hate your voice, it is yours, God gave it to you. Thank you for sharing your story. I love the bloopers! Clarice
I’m a former teacher who has been stuck in low paying jobs. I dream of a creative career and having just turned 57, your video couldn’t have come at a better time. Thank you for giving me hope for my future as an artist.
Congratulations on being able to achieve your dreams and escape the daily grind. At 58, I fear I’ve left my run too late. Having to support my family by working full time in boring office jobs, I was never game to take the financial risk on my creative wishes. My best hope is with the years I have left that I can become a decent artist in my spare time. Your videos are helping push me along that path.
It’s never too late. 😊❤
never too late even if you have to wait until you retire. I got sick and retired at 50, was lucky enough to get a disability pension and then my life actually really began. Did I have lots of money? NO! Did I have a mortgage? Yes! I lived in a small country town in Western Australia, I hated it. It took us 6 years to sell our house.. because if I didn't like it why would anyone else want to live there??? Then we did sell our house..no mortgage. Yey!! We bought a nice 2nd hand car - which we couldn't afford before we sold. Then moved to a lovely town where we couldn't afford to buy but did get a rental which takes 1 whole pension...but I live where I cant afford and we live simply and I paint, I read and paint some more.. I don't even have my beloved garden any more (I have lots of pots) and we cant have pets but I can paint. Im now 70 and life has begun..Never say never!! Its not necessarily about everything you have its about friends, family, each other and what you can do right now. Nobody will thank you when you are dead for leaving them a half paid for house in an area they dont want to live in. I think kids today make more than we ever did and really its up to them to make their own lives and their own mistakes, YOU have to live yours. Good luck,
You are a gorgeous artist!
I am at this moment in my life where I want to leave teaching to pursue being an artist. I chose teaching because it was "a secure job".
When you said you were a teacher, I burst into tears!
Dear Louise, I’m so glad that you were able to pursue your dream. How wonderful that your partner supported you throughout your journey.
I’m 64 and retired 9 months ago from a grueling IT job. I was always a creative person but had little time to pursue my interests. After retirement My friend talked me into painting classes with her and I’m so glad she did! I discovered your YT channel a few months ago. My favorite thing is to listen to you talk and watch you paint. Your talent is beyond words! Thank you for sharing it with us. I wish you many years of success and happiness on your dream journey!
Your voice is WONDERFUL! I'm so surprised you dislike it! It complements your painting style, your brush strokes, colors and flow.
Thank you! ❤️
Oh no way, I have that book you co-authored, had no idea! Wow! This video is really inspiring… I’m 32 and absolutely miserable with my retail job (the people I work with are nice but the actual job is so repetitive and mundane and a lot of customers treat me like I’m something on the bottom of their shoe even though I do my best to be kind and polite and never pressure them to buy anything). I have a second job too in the medical field which I love but my heart has always been drawn to art. I think this was my sign to finally start my art business on the side and eventually quit retail.
No wonder you are on point with teaching..
All true Louise, I'm 56 and have finally decided to start as a professional artist..... Fear of failure and not making enough money to live, also made me do everything else under the sun except what I should've done! I am going to try my best to make this work. Thank you for sharing and I love the kookaburra ❣
We have lots in common by the sound of it. Keep at it- you can do this! Thank you Catherine. ❤️
I admire your bravery. I love to paint but don't believe I could make a career from it. Just feels so overwhelmingly and I have no support, financial or otherwise. I just don't know where to start.
@@karenlloyd6042 just start, small steps will get you there 🤗
I’m also 56 and also have decided to become a professional artist, did a job that l hated foe 20 years, l wish you all the greatest success possible and grace and ease.
@@katherynpetchel9163 Thank you and strongs for your journey as well 💖
I've been an artist for 25 years. The first 20 years i painted in my spare time while i worked at a stressful law firm. Im retired now and am painting more than ever. My studio is my happy place. I'm no longer seeking stress relief but my work has gotten better. Art is very satisfying. You can take it with you anywhere, sketch pads, water colors, colored pencils, etc.
You’re the cutest thing. Love how you kept smiling through the bloopers.
I have just turned 71 yrs young and am semi retired with a foot health care business.I have followed your videos for some time now and have learned such a lot from you Thank you. Your voice is lovely and complements your paintings. What a great pursuit of achieving your goal in life. Thank you for sharing all of this with us and giving us more inspiration Louise xx
Thank you so much Amanda and thank you for always taking the time to comment and connect. It means the world to me. ❤️
Your work is absolutely stunning, and your story is so inspiring. Your quite literally my favorite watercolor artist. My progress is much slower, but art brings me such peace and joy. Like you I'm also accumulating the years. At this point I'm not sure if it will ever bring me money, but I'm 100% sure it enriches my soul. Thank you so much for being brave and willing to share. ❤
Thank you Marie. I hope you stay with it. 🥰
Yes, I feel the same. My goal is to make art I want to make and then see if anyone else likes it!
Hi Louise - thank you for sharing your story. We started our career change at the age of 40! We worked hard to shed the shackles of the 9-5 ( more like 8 - 7 in reality! ) The goal was the same as yours. To enjoy a creative life. 23 years on and we are still enjoying the journey. Still learning, teaching and painting. Have a great week 😃😃😃😃
Thank you Louise. I am in my 60s and am told I have talent, I am now semi retired, and keenly aware there is less time ahead of me than behind. I have time though to pursue what brings me joy, and now look forward to waking up every morning and working on my art. I wish I had had the confidence to follow my heart long before now instead of letting my art drop for over 40 years, but am grateful to have discovered watercolour - my happy place - and the possibility of making some “pocket money” doing what I enjoy.

Thank you soo much. Your voice is so soothing. I’m very glad you made the right Decision.❤️👏
What a heartfelt sharing of how you got to where you are now. And I know I speak for all your listeners when I say how fortunate we are that you pursued with vigor your dream. You and Dom are definitely supportive partners and you both deserve success.
Thank you very much Mary and thank you for all your support. ❤️
@@mikesamovarov4054 Yes she does Mike. She sells paintings and prints from her website. 😂
As an Australian, I feel that you captured the kookaburra VERY well !!!. I'm sure you know that when painting birds and animals, you have to capture the CHARACTER of the bird as well, which you did!!!!. Gidday from Aussie land!!!!.
I am so very thankful that you took this path. I have learned so much because of your videos. Being a Patreon has brought me so much joy. You are a world treasure.
Thank you Shelly. That makes me so happy. 🥰
Thank you for this video
So happy to have found this video!! I have finally saved up enough money and worked up the courage to leave my engineering career to pursue my UA-cam channel and art business. I feel a little crazy but I’m so thankful to that people like you share your stories! So inspiring!
Louise!!! I am here to tell you that you definitely made the right choice! You are my favorite artist! I love your work, I love your artistic style, I love your teaching skill, I love your voice (I find it lovely, soothing and beautiful!) and I love you! You have such a lovely personality. Your teaching skills come into play so beautifully as you instruct us how to paint in your beloved watercolor. Nothing you have ever done in your life has been a wasted time. God uses all your skills, talents and personality in your art and instruction on UA-cam and Patreon! You are an amazing teacher, an amazing artist and an amazing person. All the things you have put your hand to in your life is utilized in what you are doing right now! It has all come together perfectly. I love listening to you instruct and I so enjoy your humorous side, too! You cause me to laugh out loud…belly laugh! No one else causes me to laugh like that! Honestly! Thank you, Louise, for all you impart. Thank you for the beauty and creativity you share. You have conquered much in your life and you honestly share about that, too. In short, you are an inspiration in so many ways to all of us, Louise! You have certainly blessed me! God bless you! 🤗♥️🌹🧑🏻🎨🖌👏🏻
What a beautiful message Susan! Thank you so much 🙏🏻. You have brightened my day well and truly! 🥰❤️
What a gift you have. Wow, your art career is a fulltime job!
I'm a new sub just found you when I wanted to learn about this medium. I love that you shared your story and how you said you don't like hearing your voice lol nobody seems to like their own voice but you have the Bob Ross effect with that soft loving comforting tone it's mesmerizing to me. I'm so thankful for your videos thank you so much
Thank you Michael.
There is a reason I was brought to this video of yours as the intro to your channel, this evening. I needed to see your example. I needed this, right at this moment. Thank you for sharing your journey. It gives me such inspiration. I too, was a teacher and also a librarian who had art training in college.
I love the sound of your voice and it is one of the main reasons I watch your videos and joined your classes. You inspire so many people daily. Thanks so much for sharing your skills with the world.
I can't find whatever it is about your voice that you don't like, I've listened with a hat on, standing near to my PC, sitting at a distance, from another room and even with a musical accompaniment, I stood over here and over there, but all I seem to hear is the inspiration to aspire....
Thank you. I can feel that: all the joy of teaching gone, no time for reconnect with myself and no desire to go back to teaching. Good of you for listening to you and of your husband to support you. Blessings .
Oh! Louise…I think it’s so kind of you to share your personal experience and I AGREE!!
Hopefully others do not wait!!
don’t regret that you didn’t start earlier! When teaching wasn’t my calling any longer I pushed foward and now I’m retired. It affected my health. I’d give anything to have switched courses sooner. I’m too old to begin a new career but others out there aren’t!!
Listen to your heart ❤️. It will take hard work, time and determination but you CAN 12:19 do it just like she did!!
I’m so proud of you, Louise!! You gave yourself time and I know you worked VERY hard for this career.
Thank you for not sugarcoating those two facts…time, dedication to excellence through your work.
It shows!
Your story was so uplifting. Thank you sweet lady
Oh my God, Louise, this video is like a miracle! I'm trying to change careers and I'm only just learning how to paint but people are saying there's talent there. I want to pursue this possibility and your video just gave me the courage to say "don't give up" and "keep going".
What a beautiful story Louise ❤ and darling watercolor bird! You are a great artist, I love the asmr qualities of your voice and technique, quite relaxing... Never look back Louise! Art is our passion without we'd wither!
This is the first time your video has fallen on my feed & I’m absolutely grateful! Your voice is felt with such enlightening words that immediately made me feel welcomed & heard. Not all accept the calling of the artist journey but I’m sooo thankful you did.
Thanks for sharing a glimpse of your story you gave me great encouragement!🔆
How very lovely that you shared your story, Louise, it does resonate with me indeed (similar story here except I'm older). You're doing a great job as a creator and your paintings are sublime. Congrats on your success!
As I was listening to your your story I had to immediately comment when I heard that you don’t like the sound of your voice. I personnally love it and my husband melt everytime I begin to watch one of your video. “Oh, it’s your artist with her beautiful voice”. So, see? We’re never the best judges when it come to us.
Similar story here! Thank you for sharing your story. I have been told at a young age I'm not good enough and artists can't make a living, so I didn't even try but I always wondered. Things really changed after having my first child, especially after maternity leave and the price for full-time nursery just wasn't worth me going to work. Recently, I decided to quit my job to look after my little human and try pivoting my career & yourube channel sharing my progress on becoming an author-illustrator one day.. whether it'll happen, I don't know, but at least I can say I'm giving a damn good whack at it! Hearing your story gives me hope and shows, it can be done and its never too late!
74 here, and retired from medicine a few month before Covid hit. Although I am not interested in a new career per se, after the exacting work of diagnostic skin pathology, in reality the study of cellular structure and function, with my free time, I re-discovered a lost creative drive within me; my love of colors led me into making art quilts and learning watercolor painting. I already knew how to sew, and quilting (not the typical patchwork/ geometric type) but collage, applique, paper piecing "art quilts" using batik fabrics came to me almost too easily. I wanted something more challenging, and I found it in one of your videos.
I am now consumed with learning this very difficult beautiful art form. Of course, I hope to eventually figure out a way of incorporating watercolor painting into one of my quilts. I thank you so much for introducing me to this medium. I forget time when I am painting. And I love your grace, your humble teaching style, all of your art, and your distinctive lovely voice too! When I hear you at the start of a video, I smile, relax, and know I will enjoy the next 20-30 minutes of whatever you do or say.
That’s a very supportive husband. You’re work is amazing. Thank you for sharing such beautiful works
Your story inspired and reminded me of my own struggles. I quit my day job going to one year and I have always worked different types of jobs that were no where in the area of what I enjoy doing.
Hello Louise! You have inspired me a lot. I feel like my dream of becoming a professional artist is even closer to me. I am 42 years old and I think that I now have the opportunity to get to my dream job, although there is not enough time with three children. Thanks for your lessons. I never thought that watercolor would excite me so much; it always seemed to me something unattainable. Previously, I was interested in interior design, painted toys with gouache, and studied graphic design. At school everyone thought that I would go to study as an artist, but I went to study as an economist. I saw your lessons on UA-cam. Drawing pictures with my hands is exactly what I need. I hope that everything will work out for me.
Louise, I love your videos. I am a self taught artist in Oklahoma, USA. I discovered youtube a few years ago, I'm learning from artists like you. Thank you so much, I need you my watercolor paintings not so good.
I cried listening to your story. I am praying to be as brave as you are soon...I am already turning 32 this November. I just want to quit nursing after 11 yrs and would like to pursue what I really want in life, painting and drawing. Thank you for this video.
I love everything about this video, and your voice is one of my favorites on art UA-cam. The outtakes reel was great lol. Thank you for everything you do.
I can't believe you made this video today because I am struggling with whether to pursue a full-time career as an artist. I'll be honest. I am scared to death. My husband and I are in the process of buying a home in a new area that will have more opportunities than the very small town we live in now. Everyone is telling me to just do it, but I am like you were, I don't know where to start. ❤
Louise! I don't know why you said you don't like your voice, because the first thing I told myself as soon as I heard you was "Wow, she has such a beautiful soothing voice!"! Embrace it, so many of us love it as I can see in the comments!
I am so very glad to have found this video. At 56 years old, I have been an artist for well over 25 years and I'm really done with just "thinking" about it and am now creating my first online class. I can't thank you enough for this video and your inspiration! I do not have a partner for support so I will be going at it alone but that's ok. I think I can still do it!
Dear Louise. Love your art. Your videos are so clear for me, and easy to follow for a french old woman, 72 years old. Really love your work wet on wet for these smooth and luminous watercolours
Dear Louise, I love your work, and your voice is so calm and soothing. This video represents me from start to end. I've been a teacher for 38 years and finally decided to quit my job last month and use the free time to learn more and pratice painting watercolor. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Since then I've been invited to illustrate a poem book and a children's book. I'm so excited about that. That's what I always wanted to do ❤
I have to agree with so many on here Louise. Your voice is ABSOLUTELY lovely. So calming. Soothing. I truly think its half the reason I'm drawn to your tutorials. The other of course being your amazing talent and great choices of subject matter. I "do" understand though from your perspective. I cringe at the sound of my voice on camera and even though I've been an artist for more than forty years now i wont transfer in to video for that very reason. I am petrified to work in camera. YOU do inspire though.
God bless you friend!!!!!
Thank you very much Patricia. 🌺
Louise's bloopers are so funny! I love her and so glad I found her. I am addicted to watercolor and it helps my body to relax! You go girl!
I love your voice and your story is so inspirational! I'm glad you succeeded. I hope to be like you one day 😊
I belong to a few patreons. I joined your classes because I enjoyed your voice and found it soothing. Just the opposite of how you feel about your own voice. ❤
Thank you for sharing your story❤ I feel the same way you did about teaching but in nursing. Almost 30 years later, I have no more joy in it, although I'm so grateful to God for the opportunities and people I have met. I feel hopeful for the future, and I'm going to pursue forward towards my creative dream to be a full-time artist. 😌
It's not too late for anything, one can achieve anything if they want. You are an example of this. You are a very good teacher, you work meticulously and you explain very well. Your voice is meditative and gives peace of mind. Thank you so much for sharing these with us. 🥰😍😘
Feel happy by your action. the world needs people like louise because the world lacks of soul and heart. thank you for the example!
Hi Louise, I just found your videos for the first time and I want to thank you for making this one: I am 37 years old and I hate my job, it's a good job so everyone is telling me I shouldn't leave it but all my being is screaming inside to pursue a creative carreer. I feel like my life is slipping trhought my fingers and if I don't follow that pulse inside of me, I am going to regret it. Thank you!
Now this is an amazing story, you are definitely all guts and glory and a very strong woman. I love Dom for his amazing support, most women don't have that gem. You are truly blessed and I'm happy to be a part of your journey on Patreon. PS- I LOVE that blouse you are wearing! Goes beautifully with your pretty red hair!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate your support!
I don’t know how I discovered this video but I needed it. Your voice is lovely. Seriously. Im in my late 30s with a young family and I love hearing from more seasoned artists. Thank you for sharing. ❤ from the USA.
So glad to know more about you and your story! I've been watching your videos because I love the way you paint but also because I enjoy the sound of your voice - its unique timbre and breathy quality render it quite relaxing! The musicality of the Australian accent is a plus! :) Wish you lots of love and success! Thank you for sharing your story and knowledge with us!
That's very kind of you. Thank you Gabriela. ❤️
You are my favorite teacher on watercolor subject :) :) Thank you for your effort :)
Your paintings are beautiful ! Greetings from Serbia
Your voice is charming. Our voices don't sound the same to ourselves as to others. I hope this can become a family business for you.
Louise I am so happy you took the path you did and we are able to watch you here as you share your skills & experiences with us. I sit here in my little cottage here in West Australia, sharing the galahs, Kookaburras, Kangaroos, wildlife & creatures that you have there. I dont have your skills in speaking or teaching, I dont have your skills in watercolour techniques and probably never will, but you let me put those photos of the birds & creatures down onto paper with better confidence than I had 3 years ago, and thats because your videos have given me so much. I hope you appreciate just how much you have helped us out here. Im retired & didn’t start back into watercolour until I ended my professional career, I am happy to spend my spare hours knowing how to paint the feathers of a galah better or one of the roses my husband grows for me. Now if I was younger….well, that might be another story. I am so grateful you listened to Dom as I am sure many of us here are. I love your videos Denise , Ive learned so much from you so … thank you so much & thank you Dom for encouraging your lovely wife. Now what are you painting next Denise? And I love your Kookaburra, hes beautiful.
I subscribed to your channel because of you honesty, sweet, calm voice, beautiful painting and dedication. I paint myself, love the feeling of peace and happiness it brings. It is a journey. One that feels you are always taking for the first time.
My favourite thing about your videos is your voice! It’s so calm but joyful. Thank you for letting your personality shine through.
Your paintings are beautiful and I’m so grateful you took that plunge to follow your dream, because your gift has brought so much joy to so many people. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. Thank you!
I love hearing stories of people chasing their dreams and getting them. Most people can't do what you did but if they continue to search for a way, they might just find it. I think that your voice is really relaxing, by the way
Thank you thank you thank you for your courage to become an artist and not giving up! It gives us strength and faith that we can do anything we were dreaming about 🙏🏻
I loved your story. I’m not a teacher but i do struggle with enjoying my job. A creative career sounds like a wonderful thing
The content creators like you are prime examples of how one person can make a positive difference in the lives of so many. So many have been excited, thrilled and inspired by your teachings and your story! Thanks ever so much for sharing your journey. I have listened to some other artists stories on YT (e.g. Emily Olson and Michele Weber) and am cheering them on every step of the way. Making videos is something I have not tried, but it is very time consuming and labor intense. The average viewer likely has no idea how much time, effort, editing and love goes into each video. It takes hours of work and editing to produce even a short, quality video.
Arts and languages were my first choice for a career, but like so many, I had to choose where I could make a living. So I was a doctor for thirty years! And, realistically, not many have your talent. Your voice is so pleasant and soothing, and your diction is excellent. Your delivery is a desirable speed, as many speak too quickly in an attempt to convey more information. Not to mention you are very attractive with excellent posture! 🥰
Hi Louise,
You are not only talented but very courageous! I try to remember the mantra, “paint fearlessly“. Thank you for sharing your lovely story.
Wow... I personally am glad that not only did you pursue it, but that your husband supported it. I've ALWAYS doodled and sketched along with a bit of ink work, but only within the last few years have I leaned into watercolor. I've painted just stuff, along with holiday and birthday cards and such, and It has been fun! Although very (very) late in the game for me, I have started envisioning perhaps making something of it all. That aside, your work is lovely and your lessons have helped me a great deal. I too cringe to hear my voice played back to me, "Who is that geek!... Oh... it's me." Thank you so much for your videos and lessons!
Well done Louise and now have fun with us - your fully appreciative viewers - we love your teaching and have learned so much from your inspiring videos - many thanks!
Now I know why you're such a good teacher on Patreon you are a teacher ! So glad you told us your story! Funny when you said you didn't like to hear your voice! It was one of the main reasons I choice you on patreon it was so calming to listen to and you always take your time explaining things. I could listen to you all day! Thank you so much for everything you do for us.
Thank you very much Pam.
Luise, half way through your video I started crying. I dream so much of becoming a professional artist but I am following the engineering carrer because it is the "safest" option and because I have the opportunity. I truly feel I can become a great artist, but it involves a huge risk and starting over. Thank you for sharing your story.
You made me tear a little bit, i have 25 years old and im also a school teacher, but in my town there is no job available for that. I started an instagram account about 2 years ago, and i really want to start a youtube channel using my skill to teach and paint/draw but i was a little hesitant until i watched your video, thank you for sharing your story!
I have watched many times and love listening to you. I didn’t start my painting journey until I was in my 50s I also paint in watercolour and found after a short time people were buying my paintings and I was also winning awards. I wish I had been younger but I also had another business to run so it wasn’t until I sold that business that I started painting. I have moved from Melbourne to Yamba on the N.S.W. Coast. I’m still painting and teaching when asked, I must get a website and start showing my paintings and prints on social media. You have given me the push I needed. I loved listening to your story and your voice is so pleasant to listen to that’s why I have your u tub videos. ❤thanks cheers Jan hudson
Thank you for posting this. I work in a career that i have no interest in and it is killing me. Videos like these fuel my sense of hope. I wish you all the success ❤
Love your story -- very inspirational !!
I chose to have your videos playing while I paint because your voice is so calming for me. You're a fantastic artist and very encouraging!
Wow. Thank you for posting this! In years past, I experienced the same thing where co workers, when they saw my artwork, questioned why I wasn't working as an artist instead?! So many people said that to me for years and years. I too am shy about videoing, talking about my work, and hearing my voice- argh! I could totally relate! But I actually want to create video content. I guess I always feel that there are a gazillion other better artists that have more interesting content. I am a full time homeschooling mom and it's tricky to carve out time to draw or paint. I think the thing that stops me most is fear. I want to have success as an artist and our family could really use the income. I'm just not sure how to start. By the way, I love that your husband helps you film and helps to prompt you. The bloopers at the end were so cute!😂♥️
Thank you Ms. Louise, I was drawn to the video by the talent displayed on the thumbnail but I became a subscriber because of your story and passion conveyed in this video. I am inspired by your journey as a young man living in Florida, wanting to risk it all and go into the creative field to use my talents, to plan a way to get to that point, like you and quit my job. It will happen. Much success and God bless to you!
P.S. your voice if you haven't already read with the other comments, is soothing, familiar, and therapeutic. You seriously give me a sense of warmth, people would pay to hear your voice dubbed over reading material!
Your voice would be AMAZING in audiobooks! I love listening to your videos while I paint or work because your voice has such a lovely sound!
Well done and CONGRATULATIONS for EVERYTHING you have achieved its a BLESSING to live a creative life. This is one of the reasons i started my channel.
I hate the sound of my voice recorded too. Just you know I love watching and listening to your videos at night. It helps me relax and it’s so soothing, so please don’t stop making videos! 😊
A thousand thank-yous for making this video. I have followed you for many years and feel so lucky to do so. Not only are your videos great learning tools, but your personality, sweetness and willingness to share with others the tips and tricks you have learned in your time spent on pursuing your creative dreams is inspiring to so many. I, like so many others will follow you for as long as you keep going.
Thank you, and thank Dom for being such a supportive soul-mate.
Louise, loved this video, thank you for sharing your journey, and for your vulnerability in growing as an artist. About your voice: I am a retired professional classical artist/opera singer from Ontario Canada. I spent the last 33 years also teaching at University and College level, classical and music theater. I have a degree in vocal pedagogy and performance. Your voice is SO soothing, calming, relaxing, and very pretty and dainty to listen to. I find it meditative, and you are my favorite artist both on Patreon and youtube to follow. Voices can be annoying/grating when they have a lot of "twang" or nasality, or are too loud etc. Yours has none of these, it possesses a perfectly balanced tonal quality/timbre. Take it from the pro girl, it's a lovely lovely voice! AND know that many hate the sound of their recorded voice....it's a thing, lol (myself included). But you have a bit of "tonal dismorphia" lol, going on. Your voice is a sound I could listen to for hours, and I don't say that about many voices, having worked for over 33 years with thousands of students, and fellow artists. Your art work is gorgeous, I'm glad you found your way to a full time career in the art world. *I'm a truth speaker, and never compliment or BS anyone. Just so you know! hugs from Windsor ONtario
I have no idea how to voice over or make videos. I am clueless.. and envious of you living your dream. I want to do the same. You are such a gorgeous lady! Thank you for sharing.
I am very happy for you living your dream. You are a wonderful teacher
I found this video so inspiring, I always feel at 26 either I'm not good enough or I started too late but seeing your video has given me that extra boost to keep going
