    Bryan sings all the songs a third and sometimes even a fourth lower. That would even sound strange if his voice was still young and fresh. Doing that means he takes care. We wouldn't expect a 77 year old to run like a 40 year old, right? I saw him live in 1999 and I'll leave it that way. But I'm glad to see he's still doing his thing.

      I have some live DVD,s. I noticed that the back up singers usually sing at the same time and that the volume on Bryan,s voice is low. This suggests that he is trying to compensate for his weakening voice

      The Ferry solo tour here a few years ago in Australia was a debacle. His voice was/ is 101% G O N E. The band and backing singers carried him all night. The 2010 Aust. & NZ Roxy Music tour was brilliant. They were all on top of their game on that short but sharp tour of the Southern Hemisphere.

  • @MisterTMH

    Ferry cannot sing anymore, The young woman from Ferry's solo band is playing the important saxophone parts and I would guess the second guitarist is playing most of the solos. At least they did not do the show in wheel chairs. Leave that to Phil Collins.

      Roxy Music is responsible for changing the direction of my life. I was engaged to marry a guy when I met the love of my life at work. Roxy gave me the courage to grab that brass ring and embark on the adventure of a lifetime for 40 years. She died a month ago and I'm so lost. But hearing these songs puts me right back in her arms in the chaise lounge in her apartment. I'm floating above all my worries and it feels so nice.

      There are some musicians who still play / sing very well when older. Paul McCartney is one example. Sure, he does not have the range and timbre anymore. But he still plays well. Or Paul Simon. His voice is far away from what it was, and he knows it. But when he sings ... it's moving, he is still able to put the emotions into his voice ... or what has been left of it.
      You just have to recognize that you can't do anymore the same things as if you were young. But you can do other things.

      If Bowie were still alive, having never seen him live, I would pay good money to see him no matter how he sounded. Bowie with poor voice is better than no Bowie. Ferry is 77 and represents a daring, imaginative and classy age of music in which he, with a small group of notable others who are no longer with us, changed music forever. Let's celebrate Roxy touring, producing great music and giving an audience a fun, exciting concert in these challenging and scary times. After 50 years they can still put on a great night of superb music. Yes Ferry's voice is not what it was, but it is not like he is embarrassing or is puffing all night out of shape, balding, has a beer belly and dressed thirty years too young. He is an elegant gentleman enjoying singing superb songs.

    • @Scott_M
      @Scott_M 2 роки тому +6

      @@markymark2819 well said mark! I’ve been going to see Ferry/Roxy live since 1999. Yes his voice isn’t as good as it was - which is no surprise considering his age, lifestyle (previous heavy smoker) and the fact he used to actually sing in a much higher note than his natural voice.
      Since his Avonmore tour in 2015 his voice has naturally tailed off. What he does do though is have a tight knit band and backing singers that compensate for this and come in on the notes that he can no longer reach.
      Like you say he’s not struggling to try and sing notes he can’t reach and he isn’t an overweight guy puffing about on stage - he carries himself elegantly and knows his limits.
      This will obviously be the last Roxy tour and then I think we may see another solo tour. His solo tours are actually more suited where he plays in smaller venues and adds songs where there’s a less rock emphasis - Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, To Make You Feel My Love etc.
      I am just so pleased to get to see Roxy play live again - I’m only 39 so never got to see them play in their hey day! Have only seen them playing on their 2001 reunion tour and then the mini tours they’ve played since then.
      Given how poor music is nowadays I’m like you and would happily pay to see these legends play live. Once all these legends stop playing then we truly are left with nothing. Yea there will still be bands and singers but nothing like what there is been before.

      The fact that he's able to tour the world and have an unforgettable show with 13 musicians on stage is more powerful than any voice change or whatever. I went to the last show at the Forum the other night and I wanted to be there because it marked the end of an era. I’m glad I was able to see Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry in their prime. It was disappointing that both the SF and LA shows didn’t have an encore that all the other shows did and that meant no Jealous Guy.
