It must be David Oistrakh playing the violin - no-one else can play like him - just love it, and all what he plays and conducts. Yes - it IS the King...

Beautiful melody! The only piece is that Reinhold Gliere was the Ukrainian composer. He was born in the times of Russian Empire in the german-polish family in Kyiv (those days - the main city and now the capital of Ukraine). This Romance Gliere created in Kyiv, where for many years worked in the capacity of professor in Kyiv Conservatory. 20 years of his 82- year life Gliere worked in Moscow and he was the member of Union of Soviet Composers. So basically we are listening to charming music of great Kievite and great Ukrainian composer.

The most amazing fact is that this same Reinold Gliere, a romantic pur sang, has been Prokofiev's professor of composition at the Moscow conservatory.. But as with Stravinsky and his teacher Rimsky Korsakove, the pupil proved to be much more gifted than the master and thus became more famous. Voila!

, Gliere was a great composer. though not so great as Prokofiev. but Prokofiev was one of the greatest composers ever.

      @@sovietclassic5301 I Honestly prefer Gliere's music to Prokofiev's

Gliere's Second Symphony is head and shoulders above anything Prokofiev ever wrote, IMO.

Strawinsky was more gifted than Rimsky-Korsakov????? Are you sure? How did you measure that? 🙂

I have the impression that melody is identical to one movement of Glière's famous Red Poppy ballet.

Thank you. I am so sick of noise! They are all enemies of beauty and sentiment.
