I personally own an old Euroarms P53 which was modeled after an old L.A Co rifle used by the confederacy during the american civil war. When i first got it the trigger was just like this one but was quickly mended from tightening the trigger screw. The sock felt like you were holding a whole damn tree too. After some effort and massive amounts of elbow grease I got it just how I liked it. Now its near identical to the original L.A Co rifle it was based on. I cant complain much because the thing was $500 at a local pawn and gun shop.
I've handled and owned quite a few reproduction Enfields and replica Confederate rifles and carbines. I currently own a Pedersoli P53 Enfield (CW017XX) and a Euroarms JP Murray...as well as a Pedersoli Blue Ridge flintlock .54. Pedersoli builds a very good P53 Enfield which needs no defarbing for reenacting or NSSA(such as the vaunted PH does as well as every other reproduction). Mine shoots great and has taken deer....as I will try to do again with it 3 mornings from now. Now...mine might let me down the next time I shoot it, but I took it out of the box over a couple years ago, shot it a lot, and hunted with it the last two seasons....and it's just fine. I cast NOE .566-576-gr Pritchett Minies along with the baseplugs and load them over 68-gr of Goex 3F in pretty authentic 1855 British pattern cartridges. They work...very well. If I wiggle the trigger of half of my long guns, they'll do the same thing...whether it's my $1000 Uberti 1873 "Winchester", my 1978 manufactured Winchester 94 30-30, my Mosin Nagant 91/30's, or all three of my black powder rifles (the set trigger wiggles on the Blue ridge...not the front trigger)mentioned in the second sentence. My Marlin 1894, 1895's, 336's, and 30's all did it, too. That had no effect on their functionality, reliability, or accuracy...and sure isn't necessarily from 'shoddy" QC. It's no big deal to me....and I'm pretty sure all the deer I've killed couldn't tell whether or not the trigger wiggled any more than the Nazis my Mosin Nagants may have killed could tell that their triggers wiggled.
i had an original enfield pattern back in 1963. Couldn't hit with it, and the barrel bands shot loose. I got rid of it. Got a springfield rifle musket for $65.00 and hit oil jugs and 2 gallon anti freeze cans filled with water all day long. Busted real big when hit. Usually on the first try at 100 yards. 60 grain dupont 2FF.
Very nice. I own an original Enfield p53 type weapon. I think mine is Indian made, it has a smooth bore barrel like a musket as far as I can tell, and no VR markings, just some quite exotic looking ones. Its not deactivated but it doesn't need to be, it's not illegal to own as it's an antique, and I wouldn't attempt trying to get it going again, it's ancient and would probably blow up or just completely not work at all. Still, it's nice owning an original, even if its a wall hanger,
I have an original 1853 but sadly in bad shape, my new purchase is also a Pedasoli 1853 but have not been to the range, because my minnie ball order has not arrived. The originals are not hard to come bye but the prices you pay for a dubious range gun is not worth it. Working with my new Springfield 1873 trapdoor 45-70, another great Pedasoli reproduction, cheers Richard
Gunsmith's who works on antique arms can fix all the imperfections (defarb) your weapon and put the appropriate marks etc depending upon your period impression. Good luck 👍
Hello, I won this Enfield Panttern Rifle Musket from 1865. I've had him a few years. I would like to know roughly the value and if it is a good collection item?
I got a P53 by pedersoli last year, sucks to see but the quality of the wood finish is nothing like what you have. Feels more like a pigmented varnish than an actual oil finish. Grain is very muted compared to what you have here. I'll be refinishing mine proper for sure.
@@caroltenge5147 Nah. It's still a decent piece of wood underneath the coating, I've refinished mine since with tru-oil and all that and it's turned into a beautiful piece. Just boggles my mind why they would use such an awful finish with quality wood.

I fixed the side to side play with shims but the trigger has still play forward and backward. A few weeks ago I had my hands on an original muzzle loading rifle from around 1790-1810. The trigger had absolutely no play in it and the fit of the wood to the metal parts was absolutely stunning. 200 years later and you get Italian muzzle loading rifles which cost a ton of money that are built worse...
@@2lbsTrigrPull My only complaint was the trigger shake. The barrel is definitely built better then 200 yrs ago. I can shoot a tick off a bear with my Kentucky flintlock 😂
Pedersoli's quality control sucks. They have a vast line of muskets but it appears they care more about volume than quality. I had one of their enfields and ended up selling it. Everything on mine was cast. I know they have increased the quality of their rear sight but for the price you could almost have a good quality original. Mine also had the metal shavings inside the action.
Yeah they don't care about craftsmanship. Cheap cheap cheap... Too ass tight to unscrew the lock after drilling its holes to remove all the crap. But that wouldn't be even a problem if they could fit the parts straight together... Oh well.
+dullbrass Naja, das Gewehr ist schon nicht schlecht, aber der lose Abzug geht mir auf den Keks. Ich glaube, man kann mit kleinen Unterlegscheiben Abhilfe schaffen.

mrdavebenson I have the exact same problem but for a st Lewis hawken by traditions commissioned for build by an old army buddy. I wonder if it’s possible to be fixed or if I have to replace the lock and trigger assembly. Also the set trigger doesn’t work, so basically it’s a straight pull @ 6lbs.

Go back and pawn it then with the $20.00 you got take your wife out for a sandwich and a cold beer..
My Pedersoli 3 band arrived a couple days ago... I can confirm that they do not ship with loose triggers anymore.
At least they solved that... Should have made a video about my two band Enfield...
Good to know

If the barrel bands shoot loose just tie the barrel back on with a shoe lace, or duct tape.

these types of muzzle loading gun is also available in india.
Not to bark on indian gunsmiths but the quality over the past decade with India guns have dropped tremendously.

Iv seen originals with just as much trigger wobble i think its just inherent to the design. Its an exstreamly simple mechanism
