One of the major challenges with race in Trinidad is the East Indian experience, where race correlates with religion in a broad sense. So religious biases or benefits or critique can be translated or interpreted as a racial act and vice versa.....This is not the African/Black experience or situation......this is a hard place to be.

And Trinidadians should not be referring to Afro-Ts as "black" and comparing them with "Asian", "Hindus", "Muslims" etc. All of them are 'Black', whether they are of African or Indo-Asian origins. This is one of the reasons why West Indians are so, well, confused about who they are. Do not mix up colour with ethnicity.
Enslaving and indentership are two different things, africans had a harder time of it from the enslavers and some of the indian people, it has had a massive knock effect to why things are still unbalanced today.. I live in london England, and the some of the indians try to scorn black people, they don't want their children to marry no black man, but it's funny because most urban youths in london etc speak with a broken jamaican accent and try act black Jamaican and black American. Toppa toppa which human race in their right mind would 100% want their daughters to be with a black male with no education no skills no trust from the population you never know when another black male is going to kill him and she is going to be a single parent in future anyway.

This TV so called "debate" was a waste of time, showing that change in Trinidad and Tobago will not change from the deep "Race Based" Culture infused by the CIA in the region. It will take people with knowledge and sincerity to accomplish said goal.
@Renzø Rk I have been to Trinidad and I have met good and bad people. I met good people in the Beetham and I have met Bad people in Chaguanas. As I have said Trinidad And Tobago more so Trinidad will have to work very hard to change their Race based culture to a healthy society. The Indians "Dalits" who arrived from India as Indentured Servants were abused in India and by the British who brought them and the Africans who were Slaves were abused by Whites who brought and enslaved them. So you have two people who were abused left side by side without any healing. I would expect nothing different to occur, other than two trying to be just like the White people who abused them. The White People were abused too by the Romans so that was all they knew, so they are not a good example to follow. Wake Up Trinidad & Tobago and make the change for the better.
