Hopped on one of these going back from York to King's Cross one time. Pretty comfortable train, but, their food was very slow, and it actually never showed up.
I prefer the 225 still. The 225s are the first train I traveled to London on and I will miss them. They were comfy and I think still had another 10-20 years left in them easy.
Tsu 800 that makes sense for replacing the diesel 125s, but I highly doubt the Azuma is much more efficient than a 225 and it definitely isn’t more environmentally friendly once you’ve factored in the production process if the new sets
Lovely high-speed train ,will want to get the kato lner Azuma High-speed train set and will want to go on this lovely train to York railway Station with my mum and dad to visit York national Railway 🛤 museum next year
Nice catches, they certainly are pretty trains! From a passenger perspective, you can feel the acceleration so much more than on the 91/Mk4 trains, although the seats are much less comfortable...
Great looking train. This is what the successor to the HST would have looked like if Britain still built its own trains anyway! Its obviously been designed specifically for the British market to British specification and design briefs.
@stephen galley Well it's our own fault for ruining our manufacturing by under investment and letting the unions allow the workforce to strike for the slightest reasons! Btw, where do you think Bombardier or Alsthom come from? We've had foreign trains for years!
@stephen galleyTbh I don't think HS2 will happen and I think we should put it on hold anyway, watch how the Japanese manage with the construction of their mag-lev from Tokyo to Osaka and then build a similar system here, even if we have to get Japan's help with it.
I don’t get why they ordered so many 5 car units just to run them doubled up as 10 cars. Why not just order 10 car trains if you’re going to do that? Makes no sense. Same goes for GWR.
Absolutely love them and can't wait to travel on one. Do these new azuma trains go any faster than the 225s? Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed watching.
The IC 225 is a faster train wich can top off at anywhere between 140-155-162 mph it set as a speed record for these trains. They where scheduled to run at 140 mph but it never happened due to infrastructure upgrades that never came. The Azuma can go up to 140 mph but is limited to 125. I’m decently sure these can go way faster than the IC225 assuming with some touches they can head up to 170 mph plus but nobody knows that considering it hasn’t had a speed run yet or a speed run to the public.
Pros: bi-power units to avoid dragging on non-electrified routes. Cons: ugly, cheap and a horrendous ride quality. They do not come anywhere near the mk3 or mk4 nor will they have the longevity witnessed by the 125’s and 225’s. I’ll be surprised if they’re still running on the ECML by 2035.
@@bigm4njl No, not really. BR's trains were built to last and they were actually reliable compared to the new, shitty replacements which catch fire, have cracks, uncomfortable seats, and so on..
I just done Edinburgh - London and back visiting my daughter. The Azuma is a superb train. Exceptionally comfortable, with great facilities
I agree
Awesome train!

I prefer the old intercity 125 Class 43 power cars and mark 3 coaches with Slam doors
I think every station announcement should be done in the accent where the station is. Be interesting. Lol! 😂
I went to Scarborough on that train. 😊😊
Nice train, but is the seats are uncomfortable. My favourite old one to keep on usual. But why didn't repainting create on new look better is?
Amazing video. Good quality
I saw one at Kings Cross today!

It's not about them being able to run for another 10 or 20 years its about newer, more environmentally friendly and more economical trains.

@@Cactus732 But the electric sets aren't spewing out toxic diesel fumes. The sooner the world gets rid of horrible nasty diesel the safer it will be!
@@Cactus732 production is a one time thing. A diesel engine is production and continuous fumes over its life time
Mee a 225 is electric
Nice to see the west coast main line now has class 807's on their services as well as the pendolinos.
no they don't?
They will do soon, but not yet
Two years on the 807s and 805s are under test
Gorgeous looking train and I can't wait to try one out myself one day

Awesome!
I saw azuma so much
I went on a GWR Azuma and the seats creaked when you sat on them and they were hard as a brick 🧱. It was not nice. The HST’s are far better
Mean lean railway machine😄

I Like LNER Azumas, Nice Video!
I really want to hate these, purely because of a love for the 125/225s, but I think they’re going to be brilliant replacements
Which hate one? New train or old one??

Most of the azumas were built in Britain. I believe a few were built in japan
@@sprinter156 built in Japan, took apart and reassembled in the UK.

Ah Doncaster station, the only station apart from Kings Cross that has a platform 0. A small diesel service that goes to Scunthorpe and Cleethorpes.
Cardiff Central, Edinburgh Haymarket, Gravesend, Rainham (Kent), Redhill and Stockport all have a platform 0.
Joe I’ve always wondered why some stations have a platform 0 in them? Can you answer this for me as I’m curious.
I don’t get why they ordered so many 5 car units just to run them doubled up as 10 cars. Why not just order 10 car trains if you’re going to do that? Makes no sense. Same goes for GWR.
If you watch closely you'll see that some of them are 10 car units. The one pulling into Kings Cross certainly is.
Saves them running at a loss during off peak hours.
Some of them get split at various points, Kings-Cross-Harrogate and some Paddington to Weston Super Mares for example.
Preffered the Deltics and 125 trains ..these look like posh commuter trains to me ..I dont like them at all sorry
Love it, amazing video

++I Think both trains are capped at 127 mph
Journey times will be quicker because the accelerate in and out of stations quicker than the older fleet
It don't help much when there's a speed limit enforced coming out of most stations.
Looks nice, bit why isn’t it all one train rather than having a cab in the centre?
I thought the Azumas were DMUs?
They’re bi mode
Love em. They're a class train
i love the azumas and how they look and i cant wait to go on 1
They are brilliant trains
I think Japanese national railways and British rail can have England's first bullet train
Hate Japan bullet train! 😝👎

Awesome videos on these classes of Japanese trains.
Hitachi trains are going to take over british railways
Not on regional routes. The aventras are popping up everywhere across the south. Hitachi do seem to be favoured for the ic stock though
I might be the only one who doesn’t like these trains
