Hi Alanis! I enjoyed this video as I have seen the Lexus version driving around recently and now I know what it's about! I also appreciate the time you took to get under the chassis and point out the lack of protection. You always go that extra mile for your fans! 🤠
12:05: How refreshing is it to see a reviewer dive under the car instead of putting it up on a BendPak lift? (Not that you wouldn't want a lift, I'm guessing...) You make car vids by regular people for regular people, which is appreciated. Another great review, Alanis!
You wanted it, you got it... Toyota! Another killer review, keep up the good work Alanis! Also shoutout to your husband for the always impeccable cinematography.
Hi Alanis. Good to see the return of the Land Cruiser. Even better to see the return of that quality hat… Another informative and relatable video. Keep them coming.
Nice!! I’ve been waiting for this one since I saw it teased on Twitter. I agree with all points, especially the cost. I would own one if I had more money!
I totally agree about the exterior plastics not looking tough. I'm 100% sure the overland aftermarket will take care of that. I have seen a few of these trucks on the trails, but the owners are afraid to get them dirty. Great video, as always!
Once again you and the team (production guy and Portia) continue to output top notch reviews and videos that is in the top tier of UA-cam creators. Keep it up 👊🏻😎🤠
I would buy the new Toyota Land Cruiser 1958 edition and it's a hybrid yes that's what I like it and it saves a lot of gas and I love your content keep it up ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤!!!!!
This LC is growing on me. However, there’s no chance I’ve ever give up my 2020 LX570. I have 18” EVO corse darkar zero wheels on it with Toyo open country 275/65 18. The ride is still great cause of the incredible stock suspension. Wait!! Did you just say the LC250 takes premium gas?! I didn’t know that.
I'm not a huge SUV fan, but this generation of Land Cruiser looks good. I'm glad they brought it back with the international "Prado" chassis that they have had only as a Lexus in the past...Streamlines the lineup and creates better differentiation between Toyota and Lexus large SUVs. Fun fact: Here in the Netherlands, due to Taxes, this generation of Land Cruiser starts at €180,995 Euros...yep you're reading that correctly, almost 200k for a Toyota.
Great review. The segment where you talked about the undercarriage shielding makes me think Toyota should have put more resources into protecting the bottom of the vehicle rather than adding more interior electronic gizmos.
The First Edition model has much better underbody protection plus rock rails. Those parts are available through the dealer. While some people need the side steps, the underbody protection should have been standard.
To me the Land Cruiser is less about off-roading and more about a car that lasts 30 years on the road. The less fancy interior is more of a feature because stuff isn't going to break easily and it's probably going to age well.
This is an excellent video and thank you for making this. I will be in the market spring 2025 and this car is on my list. What would be in your professional opinion right now the best SUV w off road capability? I’m curious. Toyota has tried here. I think we all get the vision they tried to put into this car. Cant decide if they came up short or not. Price tag is what it is. Hearing dealers not budging on price (yet) which is weird but probably will change. Long term reliability on new engine TBT. Hate to even say this, right now, if one looking for a value based off roader that is just really good, hard pressed not to say Subaru Outback Wilderness. For the price it’s tough to beat. I realize Subi coming out with a re design very soon as well so that remains to be seen where that car lands.
I've seen one in the flesh a few times that a neighbor has and it looks very nice! Lookswise they got it down, and it makes the previous version look bland....but like others mention their recent issues with some engine models (I still can't believe I just typed that about Toyota) and all of the stuff in these cars make me wonder how it's going to be longevity wise, which is something Land Cruisers are famous for. Enjoyed the review, looking forward for the upcoming ones...("minivaaaaaaan" can be heard as a wisper in the background)
No it's not "back". The light-duty Land Cruiser platform has never gone anywhere. Toyota makes 3 tiers of Land Cruiser, the light-duty Land Cruiser Prado (250), the medium duty 300 Series, and the heavy-duty 70 Series. North America has a new generation of the light-duty LC that has always been there since the 80s-90s as the 4Runner and Lexus. US lost the medium-duty and it has not returned, but remains in the form of the Lexus LX600
I’d have to get in the lower trim GX to know, but I think at that point, it’s more about preference. The GX will have some fancier features, but the Land Cruiser has the name
I was really hoping for a bare bones version that was about $45-$50k. I would love to see a bigger gap between the GX and the LC. Granted, this opinion doesn't matter because they will sell every single one they bring over.
It's difficult to compare prices accurately due to the way options are grouped. The Land Cruiser reviewed here has every available option for 2025. If you were to try to replicate all those features on a GX, you would pay substantially more. What trips people up, is they see the GX starting at 65k but don't account for the fact that the base GX is nowhere near as well equipped as this Land Cruiser is.
@ I just shopped the GX550 and the local dealer has 72-75k GXs for sale including one over trail “base” model. I guess I just miss the days that the Land Cruiser upper end was less than the GX base price. I have used Toyota and Lexus for years and the after sales experience at the Lexus dealers is well worth the extra money to most Lexus customers. Also, a “less expensive” Land Cruiser would be fantastic for enthusiasts that are going to outfit their truck the way they want with accessories and go beat it up off-road. Obviously none of this matters cause they will sell like fast and lead to huge margins for Toyota. It would have been fun to see a new Land Cruiser that got me out of the Lexus dealer using the allure of cloth interior and a price under 50k 🤣
Huh?!? There are actually THOUSANDS of trails in the U.S., from east to super-difficult. Heard of the Moab region, Rubicon, Colorado, etc.? If you haven’t, no matter where you are in the world, you’re not into off-roading 🤷
@solooverland3666 Yeah, I've noticed there are quite a few folks in the U.S. who drive their Land Cruisers mostly around town! I guess it's perfect for those big parking lots and grocery store runs. Who needs off-roading when you’ve got all that rugged presence on Main Street, right?
Toyota is charging way too much for their vehicles now. I wonder how much the sticker price will actually be on these. Especially when Tundras are going for $80k, Highlanders for $60k, Camry's for $50k, and Corollas for $30-40K.
Sadly, I think high prices are just the reality now. If you look at the competition, you'll find they're pricey too. Check out a loaded Wrangler Rubicon or Bronco, and you'll find that there isn't much of a price Delta. In some cases, the Wrangler is even more.
It’s not “back”. It’s not the same thing. It’s like calling the grand Highlander and the Highlander the same thing. This is a Prado the correct narrative - do you like this version a.k.a. the smaller Land Cruiser better. We did not get the 300 series - that would be the Land Cruiser is back.
Hi Alanis! I enjoyed this video as I have seen the Lexus version driving around recently and now I know what it's about! I also appreciate the time you took to get under the chassis and point out the lack of protection. You always go that extra mile for your fans! 🤠
Ahhhh Francisco you are so kind. Thank you. We drove the Lexus GX before this and have a video coming about that too ❤️
Love that you showed the underbody and all the important components for offroading. Car reviewers never do that!
I liked my little flashlight pointer. Felt like a professor
@@AlanisKing Professor A.
bullshit. most of them put the car on a lift.
Despite Toyota being one of the manufacturers to create the unibody SUV, I am glad they still have a solid line of old-school body on frame SUVs. 🚙
Totally. It’s huge line!

Omg thank you! We put it up on a couple of old ramps, but it just didn't look right, so we laid down on the ground. Why not!
Man these videos are awesome I watch a fair amount of car reviews and I usually tune out halfway through but not with these
I always smile when I see your profile pic in the comments. Thank you so much
@AlanisKing You are very welcome do y'all have any other social medias I have a fan question I want to ask you
You wanted it, you got it... Toyota!
Another killer review, keep up the good work Alanis! Also shoutout to your husband for the always impeccable cinematography.
Awww thank you. He did such a beautiful job on this one
Alanis is probably the only person cool enough to pull off a yu-gi-oh shirt with a cowboy hat. Another great video!
I wore this shirt with a Dale Jr. Bass Pro Shops jacket tonight
They did a great job with the redesign, just hoping longevity matches the previous versions.
Totally agree
Hi Alanis. Good to see the return of the Land Cruiser. Even better to see the return of that quality hat… Another informative and relatable video. Keep them coming.

I always learn a ton from your reviews. And they are entertaining as well. Thanks as always, Alanis!
refreshing car review approach. already got an LC, but subscribing for future auto content. Keep up the good work!
Ahhhh thank you so much! I hope you love the LC!
Best explanations I've seen of off-road systems. Another great video

Great review. The segment where you talked about the undercarriage shielding makes me think Toyota should have put more resources into protecting the bottom of the vehicle rather than adding more interior electronic gizmos.
They probably know only a small fraction of these will ever leave the pavement.
Agree with both comments on this thread. I just felt like, as a tester, I couldn’t really test it!
The First Edition model has much better underbody protection plus rock rails. Those parts are available through the dealer. While some people need the side steps, the underbody protection should have been standard.

Is the Land Cruiser worth $70k compared to rival brands or would a lower trim Lexus GX be a better value for the money?

True
Alanis, when you put your hat down like that, your luck drains out.
I must have gotten distracted
It’s actually not that bad on the highway and/or simply city driving. 😅
It’s not! But it’s also not as good as a lot of unibody cars
Even if you buy a Land Cruiser in America, you probably won't have many opportunities to drive it off-road, right?
Depends on where you live. In North Georgia there are off-roading opportunities everywhere.
@jdrein9511 That's wonderful!
