This episode is what took this show from being "Fun adventure of the week" to "Possibly one of the best anime ever made" for me. Rain is such a beautiful piece of music for the scene
One of my favorite episodes of tv I have ever seen, animated or live action. The scene of Spike walking into the church while Rain by Steve Conte is playing is one of the most iconic and beautiful scenes of tv I have ever seen. To this day when I’m walking or driving on a dark night I play that song.
Spike's flashback is out of order in the series of events, the show will clarify on some stuff later on but some of it will require you connecting the dots.
Usually voted among the top Cowboy Bebop episodes, it is quite a departure from the previous ones. Most of the show is episodical, only this one, episode 12 and 13 (Jupiter Jazz pt 1 and 2) and the finale, episodes 25 and 26 (The Real Folk Blues pt 1 and 2) have an overreaching arc, focusing on Spike's past in the Syndicate and his rivalry with Vicious and love for Julia. The colors, especially in the church scenes are just sumptuous. Add to this the beautiful music and the John Woo type of shootout and you have in these 20+ minutes, nothing short of a masterpiece.
Hope you realize it now. Spike is dead. He's a soul trapped in purgatory. They've been dropping clues all along. The movie all but 100% confirms it. Also, the Ace of Spades is the death card.
I would say where Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood's strength is in being able to fill a lengthy series with ever increasing serialized stakes while keeping you interested and invested, Cowboy Bebop's strength is in almost the complete opposite. It is very short comparatively and manages to build a deep and meaningful story through a series of mostly unrelated events.
I love how its episodic narrative is almost the perfect relic of an era that hadn’t been fully “online” yet: the universe feels huge, unpredictable, and unknown, and all lot of things can be left in the past without lingering.
The Green Bird scene is to this day my favorite scene.. The melancholy, the cinematography, the music.. the way we get exactly what story is being told.. just a masterpiece..
Spike´s memories are all out of order. He is heavily injured. By the end of the series you will have an idea of what happened when, but this is just the first glimpse, do not over think it.
About your question about Jet and Spike knowing each other for a very, very long time... I believe that it can be said that they knew of each other "professionally" before they knew each other "personally"...
Interesting idea, but if Jet had any inkling about exactly who Spike was before they met he would probably not work with him. I am sure he guessed he has a criminal past, but not who he worked for or how high he was in the syndicate.
“Ballad of Fallen Angels” - This refers to the song “Fallen Angels” by Aerosmith but also to Vicious’s dialogue: “When angels are forced out of heaven, they become devils. You agree, don’t you Spike?”
Green Bird and Rain are two of my favorite songs in this series. (So is The Egg and I and Space Lion. Yoko Kanno did a lot of great music for this series.)
How did they screw up the live action so much. Like people (producers or writers) in Hollywood don’t seem to understand that there is a very little chance they will make material that is better then the source material. Game of thrones (first 4 seasons) is a good example of what to do. It’s okay to get rid of a few plot lines, but do not change characters entirely.
You get a lot more about Spike’s past, but it is a drip feed. It could have been a mob/crime drama all on its own. Love Bebop to death, so happy you’re reacting to it.
Cowboy bebop is a show that is 99 percent subtext. You can enjoy the stories as they are but the world building, backround lore, characterization and such are built into it where you need to really connect the dots. It's like a souls game if either of you play video games.
The excessive cuts are simply unnecessary, there are dozens of reactions to this show with fewer cuts and they don’t get strikes and it makes for a better product guys
To answer your question about the love triangle Julia was vicious girlfriend she and spike fell in love and started a dangerous affair. And also spike and vicious were hitmen for red dragon crime syndicate.
Oh how I love this episode one of the best episodes of this series! And to answer your question about vicious and spike and that woman is it was a love triangle but that's not vicious only resent towards spike you'll find a little more about it later.

That church free fall scene is one of the most iconic moments in anime history.
Straight fax. One of my all time favorites
This episode is what took this show from being "Fun adventure of the week" to "Possibly one of the best anime ever made" for me. Rain is such a beautiful piece of music for the scene
the music ...
Along with the OST green bird.

The scene of Spike walking into the church while Rain by Steve Conte is playing is one of the most iconic and beautiful scenes of tv I have ever seen. To this day when I’m walking or driving on a dark night I play that song.
And now you've seen one of the most beautiful moments in not just anime history, but visual media in general.
My jaw was on the floor first time I watched this lol
I always wonder if people realize while watching this episode that they are witnessing greatness.
I just watched it for the first time like 5 minutes ago and yes I could feel the greatness.
Lot of show don't tell storytelling here in this anime. Your gonna need to connect the dots.
Been watching since 2001 when I was 11 there’s still dots I’m connecting lol
They want clarity about what is/was going on?!?! 😏🤣🤣
The urge to spoil is strong!
I wish there is more reactions about movie "Hardcore Henry". Truly outstanding piece of art.
One of my all time favorite episodes was waiting for this one
"When angels are forced out of heaven, they become devils."
One of the great episodes of bebop
Spike's flashback is out of order in the series of events, the show will clarify on some stuff later on but some of it will require you connecting the dots.
It seems liek every reaction I watch, that beanie gets bigger and bigger. And now I can't stop looking at it.

The 1st of the greate episodes of this show, great music too
Sid Vicious!
can i just say, never... ever... ever watch the live action show on netflix, its blasphemy, thank you
if you watch the outro song you might put the story together
Can y’all watch a anime called “yona of the dawn?” please🙏
Hope you realize it now. Spike is dead. He's a soul trapped in purgatory. They've been dropping clues all along. The movie all but 100% confirms it. Also, the Ace of Spades is the death card.
After you finish Cowboy Bebop you should watch Trigun, Black Lagoon and Monster, eng dub is very good .

This is one of those episodes I will always remember.
No doubt, this episode is one of the episodes of all time.

ELM is one of my personal favorites but those are all really good picks too
If you pay attenion to the details, pretty much all your questions will be answered by the end of the show.
0:00 is it me or do I think Dos Cavazos intro is catchy 😎
I love how this series manages to weave in a underlying plot/conflict while still remaining episodic in nature. Really masterfully done.
In before 100 views!
This is where the series really begins. Also the end credits show a lot more of Spikes history.
Bebop is more about style and atmosphere than answers, compared to other anime.
THIS is the episode that turned cowboy bebop from great to greatest
This episode and soundtrack are iconic. I ended finding the funko anime moments of the scene in front of the window. 🔥🔥

Great reaction!
Where is the rest of The Boys Presents Diabolical reactions? 🤔🤷♂️
Best episode in anime history and it’s not even close. Literally nothing comes close to this

I think you guys would enjoy Ranma 1/2. It has comedy, martial arts, animals, and mystical stuff. It's on Hulu.
I wonder how these two gonna react to Netflix's version,
the best episode of our lives... well, it was beautiful, the soundtrack uff
This is the episode that hooks you in if you weren't before
홍콩 느와르 영화의 기반이 조금 있다면 조금더 재미있을 애니인대 아쉽군
Maybe I'm seeing things but did you guys get a new camera or something. It feels different... not in a bad way though
The excessive cuts are simply unnecessary, there are dozens of reactions to this show with fewer cuts and they don’t get strikes and it makes for a better product guys
I really love the music around the church scene
These 2 started out as movie reviewers and evolved to weebs 😂
You are definitely the best couple on this platform!
Your tastes for shows and reactions are delightful to watch!
Hugs from Brazil!
:)
It's such a fun show, I always forget about the syndicate. About that, Spike...
For the most part kt will never spell out the backstory in a complete way. You just have to pay attention as it drops hints.
Watch the three old men that pop up in every episode except this one. They're more important than they appear.
Ladies and Gentlemen…welcome to one of the greatest pieces of media to ever be created.
Ballad of Fallen Angels is on my playlist. Love that scene.
The Rain is such a great song
One of the best episode🔥🔥
Steve Conte has some nice renditions of the songs in the anime. I like his voice better than Yoko Kanno's and the other female vocalists.
Yeah the male choir version of Rain is soooo good but I can see why they chose the female version for the show
plz react to k-movie korea ver.🙏
it's my fav movie. and Captain cop is the main character of this movie.🖤
To answer your question about the love triangle Julia was vicious girlfriend she and spike fell in love and started a dangerous affair. And also spike and vicious were hitmen for red dragon crime syndicate.
pls react all of us are dead cast interviews 🥰♥️
