I learned more about the soldering process in this one video than in the last five I've watched today! Thank you so much, I'll be adding Beaducation to my subscriptions:)
Hello, You are such a great teacher! I wanted to ask please about soldering sterling silver 925 onto brass, for example say if the copper round you used was brass would the pendant soldering techniques be absolutely the same? Easy solder paste and then pickle? Thank you!
Yep, same process but sometimes brass changes color when soldering. We explain it in the FAQ #7 on this page beaducation.com/pages/learn-to-make-soldered-jewelry
Hi, the other metals used in the tutorial solder more easily than stainless steel. In order to solder stainless steel, you need to break the oxide barrier so that the solder can bond to it. This just means it's a little trickier - not impossible.
Been watching your videos but my question is what do use to solder with coated copper wire making some jump rings also i am using my propane torch hope to hear from you soon
Silverguardiancreations Hi there! You won't be able to solder coated copper wire. The coating will melt (and emit toxic fumes because the coating is basically plastic) and not allow the metal to be soldered.
+brian tudor sorry for the late reply! I can't fully answer your question because I have no experience with german silver. The only concern I would have is that I have heard it tends to be very hard, so yes, you might be right that it won't easily roll over the stone.
Not familiar with soldering with either of those metals. We do have a helpful guide called All about Metals that you can check out. d2pafxp37ue0ak.cloudfront.net/system/product_guides/pdfs/13/original/All_About_Metals_2018.pdf?1538523772
Could I use any permanent marker type or does Sharpie pen have a particular specifications? and what if I try to use another colour instead of black ? Thanks in advance.
Judith Grenier I have had a lot of luck soldering gold filled (not so much luck soldering silver filled), Solder it like you would Sterling, just know if you over heat, you could burn out the gold filled finish, but if you take care and solder slowly, it should work great! Good luck!
Hi! The solder paste that we sell has flux already in in. But, if you're looking for a getting jewelers grade flux we recommend there: www.beaducation.com/home/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&x=0&y=0&qry=flux

Very helpful, the very clear pronunciation and calmness let me got everything I needed to go over... too much information.
I am grateful.
We do recommend the sharpie marker. It's easy to remove the excess marker with a pro polish pad.
and yes you can use other colors!
Very good and clear instructions thank's Nira

Thank you. I am just learning now how to solder and your class is very helpful :)
Loved this video! Learned so much. Would I be able to use the same technique with a stainless steel blank?

Thanks for this lesson! Can you solder silver-filled?
If you solder Silver Filled, it will cause the silver to bubble a bit and result in the reticulated look.
Can 0.3 mm thickness german silver be used as bezel wire.....My concern is whether the edge can be rolled on to the stone...

Hi! You can use any brand of permanent marker.
Great instructions. Can you tell me what thickness your blanks are? Thanks!
Cindy Weingate Hi, if you take a look at Beaducation.com, you can see the dimensions of our blanks and other products!
I really appreciate your soldering videos but have not seen anything on soldering gold filled metal. Do you have any tips on soldering gold filled?

Hey, what brand of flux are you using? Can you use regular flux paste too?
