Outstanding and easy to follow. Saved me a load of money. Thanks! And thank you for letting me know to prepare for oil trying to run down the center stand. Good looking out.
When draining the oil, you can avoid the mess by leaning the scooter against a wall and not using the centre stand. I find this gives a nice clear flow of old oil from the sump straight into the oil collector. Make sure you chock the wheels to avoid the scooter slipping.
Presume you could achieve the same effect on the side stand? Once I’d done this once I used a cut down 4 pint milk container which fits snugly under the bike. Works perfectly 👍🏻
Motorcycle 10w30 is generally ok. Change it often (twice per year is what I did) - this scooter only has a mesh filter. So important to keep oil in good condition.
You need to do a 600 mile service (it’s important for the warranty) they do an oil change but more importantly valve clearance checks to ensure the engine is ok. Then next service will be 12 months or 4000 miles which ever comes first. That’s just an oil change too.
Yes it’s liquid cooled. Doesn’t need much in terms on maintenance. I think it’s every 4 years a flush from memory. But many people probably never change it.

Hi mate. It’s the official Honda touring screen. Any Honda dealer should be able to order it in. Full price is about £180 - I managed to find a dealer on eBay selling one for £150 took about 15 mins to fit. Hope that helps.
Never had an issue with mine. If it's really stuck ensure you are turning it the right way (lefty loosy) - you can also try turning it to the right first as that often helps free stuff. If it still won't budge the spray some WD40 around the join. Let it penetrate then try again and use some grips/pliers with a rag over it to protect it. If it's been changed before it's possible someone has cross threaded the plug. In which case I'd order a new one if that's the case as it'll be a pain forever.
I’d imagine so. It’s an identical engine I think. Worth checking in your manual to be sure. Or if you don’t have the manual drop into a dealership and ask. But most bikes will take the same oil. Don’t use car oil it isn’t designed for bikes.
Very useful video thanks,i am actually about to purchase one very soon , and was wondering what mileage you have done and have you had any real probs, also do you have any suggestions for essential extra,s some people are not happy with the mirrors for instance,
Hi Peter. Mine got up to 8000 miles until I sold it in December 2020. No issues at all really. Just regular oil changes every 6 months and 1 gear oil change. Hadn’t even changed the brake pads as I rode it very fuel efficiently. I know lots don’t like the mirrors but I found them fine to be honest - never enough of a concern to change them. I would recommend a decent cover if you store it outside the exhausts on all smaller bikes are made of mild steel and will rust if left outside without protection. Other than that I highly recommend them. Great little scooters!

Hi John, thanks for the great video. Quick question for you. I think you mentioned in one of your other videos that you were also a tall rider? I'm 6'1 myself and alittle concerned that I won't have enough leg room on the Honda PCX. How have you found it? Are you able to turn the handlebars without your knees hitting?
I’m 6’3 and it was fine for me. I have a 33 inch inside leg. On full lock it probably would touch my knee but not enough to stop it turning. Considering how small the scooter is I never had any issues with space.
You can put whatever you want in theory - but I would stick with what Honda recommends. Ensure it is the correct grade for the engine and you’ll get best fuel economy too. If the oil is too thin it’ll not protect the engine properly - if it’s too tick then it won’t lube it up quickly enough. I’d personally go with the correct oil like in my video. 👍🏻
