On your free version I was not able to fill in my income chart so it is not complete. Did I miss something I would have loved to give it a good try but now I feel disappointed and can not complete my task
Is it possible to add more expense categories'? Ten is not enough for my business.

Thank you very much for the spreadsheet. I've noticed an issue with the calculations. When I input a date range, the income statement is including transactions that fall outside of that range. Can you please help me with this one?

I would love for you to show step by step how you built this? I am currently using this template but have issues with the date. It show's "red" even though it's correct.
I like the spreadsheet but need a couple more income lines or at least the refund to customer to show a positive, as we do not refund payments. We are a small business that has sales and service. We do not refund product or service. I am in to process of setting up the spreadsheet and think it will be fine for awhile. Do you have any other products for when we need a bigger accounting package?

The Income Statements (Profit & Loss Report) usually shows numbers net of GST.
please share more accounting templates like; journal, general ledger, trial balance, income statement, and balance sheet in one worksheet...as well as sales, purchasing, and expenses templates,,, thanks..

Just setup my sheet! What would be an easy way to make a new page for each quarter and have it search for the certain dates in the quarter and insert it into the profit loss sheet just like you have but on a different page?

This is so helpful. Just a couple of things - I can't get the date to work. Also some things came in as Income that were expenses. Like phone and postage? I fixed it by calling it something else but can't figure out what I did wrong. Version - Sheets Int dates (I am I UK)

This is great! Works perfect. Would you be able to expand on this template to include a bank register, credit card transactions, inventory and a balance sheet? I think all of this information can be included in the transaction list and categorized accordingly. This would allow to track inventory, assets and liabilities. And, is it possible to add more lines to the transaction table above the 1000? Thanks a ton!!

I am wondering if you have a template for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll? I thought of trying to create my own, but I examine your formulas and became lost. I'm afraid my knowledge only extends to only the most basic math and algebraic functions.

why is the profit/loss always positive?

This is so helpful thank you so much. Imagine running a restaurant not having the time for creating templates for book keeping also not having money to spend on these accounting softwares, it's all draining. This is good just add the actual costs and i think it can also be used for projections as it outlines everything from costs to profits.

I am trying to use the Excel US Dates but when I try to change or add my own items in category name it makes the drop down list on the transactions page go to #NAME? how can I fix or get this to work???

You have REFUND to customer as Income which creates a negative value (Excel, USA model). Can you please explain how to fi this?
If you enter the transaction as a postive number it comes through as a negative number on the Income Statement and gets subtracted from Sales Revenue.
But I don't want it to subtract. I want the Refund line to be a positive income catagorie

Thank you! - I've been looking for a straightforward template like this! - I switched to "Use 1904 Date", since most other spreadsheets in USA are set there. Only ISSUE: I noticed if I add a Category Name, then the drop boxes fail. What is the simple fix? Thank you!
Also, I am using Excel 2010, if that matters...
I' been trying to fix it - but the drop box in Transactions just shows a list of 30 of this: #NAME?

It's not a proper calc. I just put an example number in.
I downloaded and when I got to cell 105 the green and red boxes stopped appearing. Could you let me know why that happened and how to fix it? Thank you on the google sheets version.

I downloaded the template and am using it to keep the books for a private club. However, I have found a problem. The second income space is recording as a debit on the report sheet. How can I correct this?
I'll numbers must be entered as positives. Income should be correct if entered as a positive.
@@mark-cunningham I have also had this problem. Everything I enter as a positive number in the second income space comes into the report as a negative.

This looks great. It seems to work on Libre Office Calc. Hopefully no glitches arise. I actually want to use this for a simple home cashbook, and need more income categories, but can make do as it is. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Ooops unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on Libre Office Calc once data is entered.. Back to the drawing board.

Thanks for your response. Soon I'll email you a few screenshots of the Windows app that I've been using. Now migrated to Linux but haven't been able to find anything suitable for Linux as yet. Very basic. Income, Expenses by category. keeping a running bank balance total, Reference and details columns, balance sheet. Monthly summary report, and also transaction report (audit tail) is what I currently have (had). Also nice to have is Balance sheet transfers in and out. So lost. I find this incredibly confusing.
It's classic accounting. If you don't mind spending money, QuickBooks might be a better option.
