Atalanta played very well today in terms of how they responded to our errors and their timely passes to players to score goals. The 2nd and 3rd goal they scored were because the assister passed at the right time, when the scorer was onside. In comparison, When Robbo passed to Salah, he was just a tad offside. Thats the difference.

I'll be honest, if the second leg was Anfield and we were 3-0 down, I'd be way more confident but it's difficult to have much hope now because it's their home ground
We beat Atalanta 0-5 away in 2020. So there's still hope.
Bielsa played a similar man-marking system with Leeds, and it was problematic for us (and the rest of the English league) until his players ran out of gas and other teams worked out how to bypass it. Full pitch man-marking is not that common as a tactic, so I think the lads were genuinely surprised by it. It's one thing to look at it on a screen or tactics board, and another thing entirely to actually play against it. Atalanta are 6th, and comfortable in Serie A. This is their big shot and full credit to them, they executed brilliantly. I think we were surprised by their speed, rocked by the error from Kelleher, and then let bad thoughts creep in (Man U games. Title chase. Club v Fan issues etc.) which meant we ended up losing our heads.
The thing I'm hopeful about is, as said above, we beat them heavily at their place before, and the man-marking system (as most obviously shown by Bielsa's Leeds) can lead to VERY heavy defeats as well as good victories. It's a tightrope system, and if Liverpool can step properly next week (and f**king finish chances!) they could still go through. It is a folorn hope though.

This season The problem are Nunez, Diaz, gravenbench, gapko, Thiago and jota. The entire Attack rely on Salah, that's the problem. Jota Is to injury prone, he plays 1 game and 10 no, same Thiago. Nunez and Luis Diaz can't score. One Is a blind dribbler and the other a blind runner. Gapko out of the system (klopp ruined him changing position every game). Gravenbench not good enough to start. They cost US the league and EL

I’m disappointed in the game as well. But we need to be realistic in football. We cannot win every game. We cannot always have a good performance. Nobody can win forever. It happens. And Atalanta is a good team as well.
We undermined and underestimated Atalanta and the Europa League and ended paying the price, you could tell from we started the game and how Klopp reacted with the subs made at halftime. The result we got is honestly what we deserved.

Good performance from Atalanta, they made us to play on their command/style. We were stretched towards Tsimikas at which we got pulled to the left leaving the void on the right, having also played with lone DM in Endo and he was unable to track back as Gomez also kept wanting to overlap exposing Konate. Toughest 2nd leg to be played, we actually need 4 without Atalanta scoring... we gave them 🖐🏿in 2020, why not in 2024🤔

I don't even think Atalanta had a stategy outside of taking advantages of our silly mistakes left and right. As a fairly new fan whose last 3 matches were game deciders (losing the FA cup, the draw to utd right after, and now the europa league hanging by a thread), it hurts seeing the team is such bad form; it is so disjointed. idk whether they underestimated the opponents or we're just that bad.

So much Outcome bias here, and not an accurate representation of the team Performances. 0-3 is not an accurate representation of the two sides, and if Luck tends to average out, its entirely possible that Liverpool reverse that scoreline in the second leg.
There were many moments in that game where a tiny change in Luck would have completely changed the Outcome, eg. Nunes's chip a centimetre further right off his foot, and it goes in, Salah's run a couple of centimetres back and his goal is onside, Elliots shot a centimetre lower and its in off the crossbar. If any of those go in, then the entire dynamic of the game is changed, Atalanta would be chasing, and Liverpool likely score even more.
I wanted to slow down so we could score goals....after the 3rd goal how i wished the time to end quicker

Absolutely horrendous team selection, Klopp was right when he said he didn't have it in him anymore, the team looked tactically inept with no idea of what to do, how Gomez keeps getting play time is baffling, he is clearly not good enough yet he keeps appearing on the team sheet.
Maybe the time for a new manager was last summer.
Team selection didn't really matter though because we were even worse when the more senior players came on
