Hilltop Hoods have been around since 1996. This song is from like early 2000’s, like 2003ish. I remember listening to them in Highschool, all my friends knew the lyrics. They were locals to us, only a few mins away. Even if you weren’t into hip hop, pretty sure you still knew the words and would sing along.
You should see Anthony Ray's reaction to this song
True, they are Legends 🤙
@d3v1lishm1ndz6 noticed a place called Hilltop in NSW on my way from Vic to up the coast. When I saw the sign, my head started spinning, trying to figure it out lol I seen these boys live in Sale Victoria in pissing down rain. They asked the hole crowed to be and party just like my 3 friends and I.. we made it on channel V them saying this. They will always be the #1 in Aus hip hop
@joelholland8523 it starts with an O and it's just south of Adelaide in the Adelaide Hills.
Saw these lads before anyone knew about them at a mates party on his dads property
@adriandavies4787 there legends man. I seen them live in Sake Victoria. In the pissing down rain. They asked the crowd to be as me and my 3 other mates were lol we were having a good time! It made channel V. They sounded just like they do on there albums
When I emigrated to Australia from Scotland I was handed my visa and a copy of this song haha. It’s an institution of a song 😂 not my genre at all but it’s such a vibe!
First hip-hop album of any nationality to go to number one on the mainstream charts in Australia ever. Legendary band.
I've seen so many reactions to the song and two things are THE SAME in all of them.
Everyone has a grin on their face and rocks along
Sample is 'Melanie - People in the front row'. Early '70s.
I’ve seen these guys live a couple of times.
On one occasion I had the privilege of seeing them open Eminem in front 88,000 people, as soon as song started the crowd just went wild!
Never heard anyone compare them the the beastie boys bout shit probably the best comparison ever hah
Hilltop Hoods are great and one of the foundations of Aussie hiphop. In recent years there’s been an explosion in indigenous hiphop artists who’ve connected with the genre and have a hell of a lot to say. Briggs, Baarka, Baker Boy etc.
Hilltop definitely are pioneers in the aussie hip hop scene. The first group to get really big, I think. They spawned a whole era of aussie hip hop in their footsteps. Lots of good artists. Urthboy and Horrorshow are my jam. I also highly recommend The Herd, they're incredible.
Yup. They have their own record label now.
Aus hip hop's been around since the early 90s.. and the scene was formed on being real to yourself and not emulating american accents/gang culture/gun play etc, cause it just not that common here. So its developed a uniquely australian style over the years which is generally uplifting and positive, or very honest introspective/mental health etc... we do have heavy east coast influences, but its never really gone mainstream here, so its all about penmanship and the art rather than image.... for the most part.
Tons of great artists that are well worth diving into.. the accent can take a little getting used to, but the content is world class.
More hilltop hoods please!!!!!
Hilltop Hoods are a national treasure.
Hoods are the group who define/d the Australian hip hop genre
Another big Australian hip hop group to check out would be Bliss n Eso. They have a similar style. I love their stuff.
Highly recommended checking out more if there music. Im Australian seen them live. They are very Talented Aussies
check out goldern era cypher - you will love it
Great reaction.
Try "50 in 5"!!!
subbing for this, my fave song ever, cheers from Oz guys xx
Aussie hip-hop definitely had its prime in the late 00's, however even as these songs push 20 years old, high schoolers today who are way younger than these songs can still identify with the music, old school hip hop has an extraordinary place in music, and to have artists who've contributed to the genre locally gives anyone no matter the age a sense of community with something to bond and connect over.
Lyrical commission are my number one but their relatively unknown outside of aus hip hop fans
Good sound
The Lads are from Adelaide Hills in Adelaide South Australia and the sample is from a Dolly Parton
Melanie Safka actually.
That was a good request !
This song was released in 2003, they are still creating dope music. The sample is from a singer called Melanie Safka and the song is called "People in the Front Row". A 70s indie/hippie/country song - definitely worth listening to!
One of the first in the Aussie hip hop scene. Trailblazers
Interesting comparison to Beastie Boys. Hilltop went on an Aus radio stations show called Like a version where they get asked to do a cover, and they covered Beastie Boys So what cha want, styles fit perfectly
Yeee
Bliss & Eso or Drapht are worth checking out.
Funkoars 🎉
This is nothing like our beastie boys
Not quite, but see the comparison!
Suffer is king. If you havent get right up in cosby sweater ❤❤
I see you actually have the official/unofficial clip... The Bro riding flatland on the bike is the OG un/unofficial yet official clip for over a decade
If you want a good Hoodies song react to "Higher"
Can't believe you guys haven't done any more Hilltop yet. React to 'I Love It' ft. Sia, or 'Exit Sign' ft. Illy - guarantee you'll love it!
Thanks for the reminder! We'll get more Hilltop out soon!! ✌🏽
should check out the sentinal or still standing by hilltops
Gday mate im a sound engineer from aussie and some bands to direct to you
Excellent and pleased to meet you, Aussie colleague!! ✌🏽
Great reaction guys 🔥🔥. Please react to Hilltop Hoods - ‘Fifty in Five’. It’s about the major world events that occurred in the last 50 years mashed into 5 minutes. Song is fire.
Thank you and will do!!! ✌🏽
@@musikbyjh hey guys. When will you be doing this. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you think of it.
@@musikbyjh Hey Guys. Are you still going to react to Hilltop Hoods - Fifty In Five. If you aren’t it’s all good. Just so I know, because I check your channel everyday hoping you guys have done it lol
Hey @@redz23z !! Yep, but it won't come out until early January. We have a ton of holiday donation requests. Hope to see you then!!! And thanks for being here! ✌🏽
The hip hop scene is big here. Check out jk-47 . He is am aboriginal rapper. He is tremendous
Thank you, Bob!
"is there another"... Australian hip hop is awesome. Google!
if i am not mistaken they didnt know what nosebleed section was, they thought it was the front row, instead of the worse seats
Huh. I always thought that it was intentional: People getting in fights in the pit or something leading to ... a diff sort of nosebleed section.

any relevence to thsi admittedly awesome track (as an aussie) is abrogated by your lazy late effort to jump on...join with my favourite of them and suffer with the MC suffer and work for your selves
Ouch! We are just happy to have found them at all and have much respect. Apologies if we didn't show to your liking. Appreciate you giving us a shot. 🥷✌🏽
HH's have some incredible music, I'd reccomend you checkout some of their other back catalogue.
Other aussie hiphop to look at : Bliss N Eso, Drapht, AB Original, Baker Boy
🤷❓️REN just dropped album of the year. Where the heck are u at? U r going to lose it when u hear the songs he saved for the album⁉️
I know, I know! Ren coming tomorrow at 11am ET!
What’s the most 🔥 song on the new album? (One that he hasn’t already put out before)
😁Yes!! My personal favorite is Seven Sins. The production is phenomenal!
WHY???? haven't you done Jinjer yet?
I know! Because I've heard most everything already and thought it wouldn't be good since I know what to expect. Should I anyway? I’ll definitely do it when they put out new music. Appreciate your thoughts! ✌🏽
