Thank you for your clear explanation. You have given me hope. Going to try again to adjust my HB transducers with the right angle up with level on the water first then duplicate on the lift. Don’t expect miracles but just want the best result.

Awesome video. I’m putting in a garmin 73sv with a gt54 transducer. I was going to wing it but glad I didn’t. I did not know about the leveling. Thanks

Are there nuts holding the bracket on behind that sheet of metal ? I have a similar setup and trying to find a way to secure my new transducer

Unless it's really new, there's usually a water line that shows on the boat. I use that angle to set my transducer with, and it's always pretty darn close.

You’re wrong about the transducer angle. It should actually point downwards at the rear, not upwards! That is the secret to getting it to read depth correctly at speed! You will never get clear high speed readings with it pointing upwards like that!

You also have to account for trim on the motor at full speed lay a straight edge of the bottom of the boat and allow the but end to touch the front of the transducer should hit at the fold line on the transducers usually about the half way mark

The BOTTOM of the Transducer only needs to be an 1/8" below the surface of the bottom of the boat on a fiberglass boat, and 3/8" below the surface of the bottom of the boat on an Aluminum boat.

It would help if you also compensated enough cable for your transducer to be rotated 90 degrees downward if it gets snagged on a tree limb or something; the way you installed it is incorrect.

what happens when you and your gear gets loaded into the boat, does that not put the transducer off?

You have to just do an average of which is most likely the equipment weight you will have and angle to that

I had a full tank of fuel and all tackle in the boat with all the batteries and did my settings for the transducer

Nope. Wrong about the first part, second part and last part. Take your boat to a dealer, you have quite literally no idea what you are talking about.
