This speaks to me of the authentic Ronnie who was speaking his truth to a 'steeples audience who didn't get it. Perhaps he dumbed down a little after this in order to feed the children. It was never profitable to speak out the horrific truth about wars.
I love the distinked voice of Ronnie Drew, I try to imagine a flow of filthy language coming from Ronnie's lips, and of how good it would sound. He could say "Fuck" much better than I. It wud sound much more convincing.
This might be the oldest footage I've seen from any of the later Dubliner's members. Does anyone know from when this recording is? Also where is that? Such an interesting audience and setting (nice fireplace in a studio).
I hear his voice and instantly go on a Dubliners kick. Thank you!
Ronnie me auld flower!!..Just love the old Dublin speaks!
🥰🥰 A fine singer. A fine song. A fine beard.

Großartig!!!!!
This is excellent.
Wasn't Ronnie just something special ❤️🏴
Thank you for uploading this. One of my favorite songs, Ronnie's rendition is beyond parallel.
Great. Close the bar!
This performance wouldn't be the same without the audience's backing. 🇮🇪🍀💪

This is from the Rte show Ballad Sheet filmed in 1969
I'm not sure if the Dubliners was formed yet or if Ronnie was still with The Quare Fellas

God weren’t our dressing straight then!
We knew how to dress back then
