$106,000 Pro Touring build, I talked to the shop that built it. Only 1,883 miles since completed. They started with a clean Texas car and built it for a customer that wanted something unique that performed like a sports car.
EXTERIOR: This is a really good looking car. What I like best is that it's very unique. The paint scheme and wheels are one of a kind. The Texas body is clean and straight everywhere, panels fit square and flush. The big doors don't drop. The wheel well flares are molded to the body without seams. The original fiberglass dual scoop hood has Aerocatch flush hood locks. The rubber front end is in excellent shape. The silver paint is laid out evenly with plenty of metal flake. The white/gold paint stripes are painted on smooth. A high gloss clear coat finish is polished like glass. All the chrome was replaced- grills, headlight bezels, and turn signal bezels, door handles, taillights and rear bumper. Upgraded high intensity Halogen H4 headlights. It has sport mirrors, front and rear spoilers. The door jambs are painted real slick, new weatherstrips, sill plates and window seals. All new glass. The 18 inch wheels have gold accents inserts to match the striping on the car. They are wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport tires, much wider in back.
INTERIOR: I want to make a desk chair out of this bucket seat, it is so comfortable! New cushions and upholstery. The upper and lower door panels look new. In front of me is a Formula wheel wrapped in glove soft leather on a tilt column. Nice set of Dakota Digital custom gauges in the factory holes. Heater controls are updated Vintage Air with electric slides instead of cables. It has a modern stereo system. A modern 6-speed shifter is sticking up out of the factory console which also has power window switches. Up above is a new headliner and visors. All the plastic trim is excellent, carpet looks new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: 6.0 LS2 from a GTO. Upgraded LSX-R intake with custom intake tube. All the components on the motor are also modern: serpentine belt system, modern power steering, new Vintage Air heat and a/c system. New cadmium plated brake booster and new master. A big aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keeps it cool.

Im not a huge LS swap restomod guy but this one was done nicely by retaining the pontiac vibe with the modern GTO motor , the only thing missing is the loping choppy exhaust note from a ram air 4 profile camshaft
    Nice

I thought the 70 Lucerne Blue one was nice. Love the gold on the rims and pin striping with big white stripe with nose and tail. Beautiful! Chip Foose would bow down.

I love the built in fender flares and spoiler. I bought a 73 Trans Am new and loved the looks of the car but never cared for the cheesy way they added the flares to it.

LOVE that paint job, great colors, that interior color just clashs a bit. Went from "metal " type colors to an "earthy" leather color. They should have done it in black. Can't imagine how fun that thing is to drive with 6 gears to play with. So is that a 6.2 liter LS?? That would make it what 383 or 389?? Fantastic machine.

As a 'modern refurbish' car, it is beautiful. As an old guy that's owned 6 Pontiac Trans-Ams (plus 2 Formulas) in his life...I cringed at it, for a major reason. If it IS a 'true' 1973 Formula, there is NOTHING original on the car (paint, motor, transmission, interior, wheels, etc.)...nothing. Sad, considering how rare they were to start with. If it is NOT a 'build sheet Formula', but merely a pre-75 Firebird that's been refitted with a Formula hood, then Que Sara...but also is as 'de-valued' as if it were a restored Formula...maybe $25k tops (could easily be done with a chassis, if you have body-paint skills).
The problem with 'retro-modding' an old musclecar, is akin to 'disposable car'...whether you are 'chopping the suspension' on a truck (you might put $10k into it, and like it, but you'll NEVER get your investment back out of it...no one else wants it!) or putting an LS drivetrain in a 1965 Mustang, you've SEVERELY devalued the car to those (mostly older) who have the money to actually PURCHASE THE CAR (or truck) to start with! If you doubt any of this, simply watch the prices at ANY Barrett-Jackson auction...untouched with rust will double, triple, even more, the final price of ANY 'modded' equivalent.
