My thought process was since I recreated the website in the masterclass I thought I could showcase it on my portfolio. I should've gave proper credits to the mentor and the masterclass when I used it in my showcase, it was wrong of me to not do so.
@@Questerrr even if you give full credit, it's a very gray area and still best not to show it. Unless you manage to make it very super clear at first glance that this project is something you only recreated, not designed from scratch!
@annafilou Yeah, I should've made it clear. I was proud that I was able to complete the masterclass and wanted to showcase it, not at all my intention to claim it as mine.
Hey Flux Team and Mat, I want to start out by saying that I apologize in using the projects that was being used for the Framer Masterclass. It was wrong for me to use the projects and I did not even gave credit to the one who originally made it or the masterclass. I have since taken down the projects from my website. I might even take down my whole website as well since I think I'm really not good at web designing anymore and got burnt out with my last desgining job. Please don't let my mistake be a reflection to the wonderful artists from my country, I fully take all the blame and accountability for my actions. I hope you forgive me.
Man no need to take it that far. You made an honest mistake, didn't explain what the project was about so it came out like stolen work. Life goes on, take it off or explain what the project was about. Keep trying, keep learning. Also a bit of change of attitude would help, accept your mistakes but be proud of your process. It's really not the end of you carreer. Keep learning, move on.
Matt was being a little tongue-in-cheek here, sorry if you didn't pick up on that. It's not ok to pass off others work as your own, but please don't be discouraged. Keep going! We're here to help you on your journey.
Brooo, there’s really no need to beat yourself up about this. Yes, you made a mistake, but you also took responsibility for it. You’ve clearly learned valuable skills from the course - you just should have credited the source in your portfolio. As for the client situation, I think we’ve all dealt with difficult clients when starting out; it’s just part of the learning process. Keep your head up!
Excited that after watching the videos in the Core Design Skills course I was able to pick up some of the things you mentioned in your feedback. Nice video!
This short Portfolio reviews inspires me to create visually appealing websites with my own style. Thanks for this! I hope the creators of these Portfolios don't take the reviews of their websites personally.
The biggest one that stands out for me when reviewing portfolios is a lot of work on solely websites, mobile apps or landing pages. Typically I find it refreshing to see design work on complex web apps where the layout and UI has had to be sacrificed for the usability and specific use cases. Another one which I notice a lot of too is fancy heading text, a lot of developers will generally struggle to code this, especially when making it responsive and will often relay on SVGs which take longer to load.
Keep in mind! Small customers often do not care about your portfolio websites because they have 0 understanding of webdesign. In this environment I think you land more projects with other things. For agencies or for instance Saas Clients the portfolio is way more important
Regarding the images some people had of themselves, you don't have to have a "professionally" done portrait. Camera tech on phones is pretty great these days, it's just a matter of knowing how to set up a good composition with good lighting. Google/UA-cam is your friend.

Excellent design reviews.
Using someone else's work is insane. You could've at least used a template my guy
