Matt literally getting appendicitis at the Emmys is insane! He’s always said that it would happen at an important event, and here we are. Words are very powerful!
@@kcri4934 Jordan shared his story on the podcast about how him and his family were held hostage at their home and got robbed. Poor guy can't catch a break.
As a graduate nurse, I’m pleasantly surprised with how well informed Matt is about appendicitis. Like pretty spot on. 😄 Fun fact, if you’re suspecting appendicitis test for rebound tenderness above your appendix. Where if you push it down the pain is relieved, but when you remove pressure the pain returns. And the moment that sharp pain suddenly disappears, run to the ER cos it means your appendix has burst. 😬
the fact that Matt is medically advised not to stress his body but everyone, including himself, continues to make themselves laugh anyway is why i love this bunch so much
Zane saying random words out of context just has a direct line to my funny bone. I laughed for five minutes over Mat saying, “hydrochloric acid” and zane responded, “mitochondria”. Like how does he make me laugh this hard? 😂 Also I just want to send Mat flowers and give him a hug! He always goes through crap and everyone tells him he’s being dramatic! He’s not! He has anxiety too! Give him a cup of tea and hold his hand! Jordan too! This whole cast deserves pure happiness!
I survived a ruptured appendix. Hearing Matt talk about it gave me flashbacks. No one believed me either. I was accused of being pregnant twice and having gas by others. I passed out and that was when they decided I should go to the ER. I spent 5 days in the hospital in septic shock. It's the closest to death I have ever been and worse than childbirth. Glad you are ok. So I was in such bad shape they gave me pain meds almost immeditly and I didn't have to wait to go into the hopsital (pre pandemic though, circa 2007) but I couldn't sign for the surgery because of it so the surgeon signed for me and said "if you don't do this, you will die, do you understand?" worst time of my life.
I am so sorry that happened to you that is traumatizing! And I am sorry your pain was not taken seriously… I feel like I hear this too often especially with women. Hugs❤
SAME!! My mom kept me home and kept saying I was being dramatic and just was constipated. My appendix finally burst and I continued to get worse. I went to the ER and had surgery within the hour because they were worried about septic shock. Stayed in the hospital for 4 days and this was my first surgery ever. I still have anxiety around how out of my control this all was. No fun!
So my dad recently passed away because of a ruptured appendicitis and he didn't make it to the hospital on time. That was the first time I realised how dangerous an appendicitis might get. Super emotional to know that Matt made it. I was listening to the good influences pod and couldn't complete the pod where you guys discussed this issue. Saw the story that Matt was rushed for the same and glad that he believed his gut at the right time.
as a nursing student this has been my favorite episode by far. i love hearing about other peoples experiences in the hospital and how they were treated
There’s nothing I wanted more than Matt telling a story for at least 45 minutes uninterrupted. While I wish it was better circumstances, I love his story telling.
1:20:40 Mariah’s run. 😂😂😂. Man this episodes ending was so funny. Matt’s vibe is just so dope. Like you can just sit with the dude and just have a conversation about anything and everything. Love people like that .!
As a Canadian, it's WILD to me how ya'll have to decide on whether or not to go to the hospital because of the fee and if it's worth it or not...damn that's horrible.
Man I’m glad i randomly looked up Zane & Heath a couple years ago to see if they were still on social media because i replay the podcasts every single day 😂
As someone who had a rupture appendix, Matt's description of the pain is so accurate! I wouldn't wish it on anyone but I'm thankful it happened now over when I'm older. Please be sure to do exercises to build your core strength. I had my appendectomy over 11 years ago and about 3 years back had another surgery stemming from my appendix surgery. Essentially, I had scar tissue build up from the appendectomy right around my small intestine and start to wrap around it. My small intestine (actually very large) started to wrap around itself. It took 9 hours to unwrap my small intestine. I hope Matt does those exercises that hospitals recommend following surgery to build up strength and prevent scar tissue buildup. Matt should really take this time to take things easy and don't rush into anything! Also trust your gut and take care of yourself :)
When Matt was talking about how they asked if he was on drugs before surgery, that happened to me when I had Covid and went to the hospital. My oxygen level was pretty low and a doctor comes in and was like I need your consent that if you get worse, which is most likely that we can intubate. I always show me emotions on my face and I was scared/shocked so he then was like you’re young and if we do intubate you you’ll get through it. We want to increase your probability to live. You’re really young. I was 22 when this happened. It also was my first time going to the hospital for anything in my life, I was so scared.
I completely understood Mariah when she explained her process of getting into her car. I live in Arizona(close to the Southern boarder) and always have my 2 year old with me. 1000s of people go missing, abducted or just plain assaulted in this area, especially women and children. My boyfriend is pro second amendment and wants me to use my right to conceal carry, for piece of mind. For months I wasn’t able to go to the store on my own. I’ve had to strategize how to get my son and I in the car efficiently without making myself an easy target. I used to be extremely paranoid but now I’m just more aware of my surroundings.
This was a JAM packed episode I loved it! Matt is such a good story teller and it was v informative then y’all had me dying laughing about the Queen magazine cover! Love yall
Just to correct what Matt said in the episode, I work in an ER and if somebody comes with pains that signal appendicitis, we won’t turn you away. An ultrasound of the appendix is almost always done to see if it is inflamed or not. I dont know if different hospitals do it differently but just wanted to throw that out there so if anyone is experiencing appendicitis like pain they shouldn’t wait to go to the ER!
WAIT NO. Don't WAIT necessarily. I was crying in my doctor's office. My doctor told me that if my pain didn't subside, GO TO THE ER. If you're ever in the worst pain of your life, GO GO GO. You never know how close to rupture you might be. My discomfort started around 9am, and I think I walked into the ER around 4pm, and my doctor told me that if they'd seen my bloodwork results immediately, they would have sent me by ambulance. DO NOT WAIT. If it's the worst pain of your life, no matter where it is in your body, don't wait.
I think this is one of my favorite podcast episodes ever!! The story about the phone being stolen and the Emmys being a wild night format kept me so entertained!! Much love keep up the good work
I had to get my appendix out several years ago now. I’m surprised Matt was able to go that long without going to the ER. I was throwing up for a couple hours & couldn’t move then had it removed right away. Glad you’re doing better !!! Definitely not a fun time.
Zane & Heath will forever be a thing. You absolutely cannot have one without the other. Package deal! And I really wish Heath, Zane and Matt would do the Murder Mysteries like they used to do back in the Vlog days! Matt would act like that Southern chick and ‘We about to solve this mystery’ I’d DIE if they did another vlog or something 😂
Sometimes I wish I could be a part of their conversation like I also had appendicitis and it would be so cool to chime in with my story and talk about it with them
Literally had to have emergency surgery to have my appendix taken out a month ago. Waited 8 hours for my scan because their internet went down. But the person that gave me my IV predicted it was that & was so nice. Im glad you're doing better matt!
I got appendicitis at 3 years old so I don't remember, but my biology teacher, shoutout to him, told me that they think that the appendix holds good bacteria so sometimes when your large intestine doesn't have enough good bacteria, your appendix is like here ya go, and sometimes it just holds bad bacteria, but in general, it is a medical mystery what it does. Thank god you're ok and you have nothing to fear now.
My appendix burst when I was in 5th grade. I spent like 10 hours in screaming pain before going to doctors where they told my parents to immediately bring me to Boston Childrens. I spent 12 days in, 5 days out, then another 5 in for infection. It was extremely traumatic as a child but my mom always reminded me of the children there that don’t get to go home. Crazy how some people it’s a quick fix and others it’s a month in hospital or even death. So happy to hear Matt is okay! Love you all❤
I think Heath is describing an ulcer. Back in my drinking days, I had the same, and I know Heath has had his. Oh man, when I had appendicitis, at first I thought it was a pit in my stomach (like from anxiety), then a stomachache, then a stomachache so bad I started crying at my doctor's office. They sent me home with possible kidney stones and told me to take a hot bath. I made it to the ER just before it ruptured.
In case Matt sees this and wants to know more, I believe mine was stress-induced. This happened the year I had two close family members die (very shortly after losing my little brother). I was in a very hostile/toxic workplace with an abusive boss who was doing everything to get me to quit. It was preventing me from being able to process my grief in therapy. It wasn't until I was on medical leave from my surgery (somewhat) and leaving that job a few months later that I was able to process the grief of losing my brother. Dude, our bodies know.
Sorry y'all just keep speaking to things I've experienced. I woke up during my wisdom tooth surgery, but it wasn't bad at all. I woke up to some pain, and as soon as they heard me groaning, they knew to put me back under. It wasn't the nightmare experience you hear about.
Once the topic of making Matt a bracelet for being an appendix survivor I knew the rest of the episode was going to be equally as fucked up and I’m living for it
I’ve had this also when I was 8 borderline busted appendix , my mom thought I was trying to skip school by saying I was “sick”. I was terrified because I thought all doctors acted like grey's anatomy, and could have drama while they are doing surgery, and I would die while they argued 😂 Needless to say I had gotten tons of im sorrys and I’ve cream after surgery, I feel Matt’s story 100 percent
I’m so glad that everything turned out okay Matt! I felt everything you said about being an adult and the surgery. I had surgery when I was around 10 and it seemed so easy. Then I had to have a hysterectomy 4 years ago and it felt insane to be making these adult decisions even though I am definitely an adult and have been for a long time! I do remember being grateful that everyone was still so amazing and kind. I am certainly young compared to most women who have to go through that and my heart was definitely in a tender place. They made small talk and I will never forget the assistant anesthesiologist standing over me, telling me everything would be okay and literally taking his thumb and wiping a tear from my face. I felt really cared for. And then they kept calling me the rockstar patient when I woke up because I was ready to go home after 40 minutes 😂 I also can totally relate to that post surgery poop 😂😂😂 it’s even more traumatizing when you have the surgery I had and read that it’s possible to split open and literally have your intestines falling out of your lady bits. I was TERRIFIED! Lol

thank you all for doing this podcast. I started watching this episode before work. I did about an 8hour shift with no break :( not a good day, but I was happy to know i had the rest of this podcast to listen to when i got home
I'm a sahm & listen to the podcast but sometimes my son or the dishwasher or vacuum keeps me away from the audio so seeing the video fills in what I might have missed 😁
When they started joking about Matt surving and having a bracelet ...I just burst into tears from laughing so damn hard ...like having in mind Matt is trying not to laugh made me laugh harder idk😂😂😂😭😭
I had appendicitis when I was 17, also thinking it was a bad stomach ache. After a couple days in I went to my primary doc and they gave me IV fluids and said I should go to the ER ASAP. Turns out the appendix already burst, BUT they didn't want to take it out. They instead put in drain tubes to get out the infectious liquid , kept me admitted for over a week, sent me home with IV ports to do at-home medications, and did the appendectomy 2 MONTHS later!
Heath, I used to get that same pain a lot when I was younger! It still comes around sometimes when I’m really stressed… i was told by my doctor that he was pretty sure i had ulcers. So I just chalked it up to that. Very painful. 😬 I was shopping with my mom one time and I found a corner in the back of the store and laid there curled up in a little ball until she was done. 😅
The fact that they’re excusing what the queen did to do many innocent people, they shouldn’t talk or give their opinion if they don’t know what happened or what lives they destroyed. People have every right to not like her doing on this world.

They made small talk and I will never forget the assistant anesthesiologist standing over me, telling me everything would be okay and literally taking his thumb and wiping a tear from my face. I felt really cared for. And then they kept calling me the rockstar patient when I woke up because I was ready to go home after 40 minutes 😂
I also can totally relate to that post surgery poop 😂😂😂 it’s even more traumatizing when you have the surgery I had and read that it’s possible to split open and literally have your intestines falling out of your lady bits. I was TERRIFIED! Lol
Come on y'all, she reigned for 70 years! Please show respect, please. She kept up with all of her appointments up to the day before & only stopped the day before she passed. She was a great queen. Honor that beautiful monarch. Elizabeth and era died that day. All the family lost their gramma/loved one. Please stay respectful. She was an amazing queen!
Love you Mariah, Zane, Heath, & Matt 🤍
You guys always put a smile on my face :) My dream is to one day be on your podcast! ♥️ I’m going to keep posting this until one day you give me the honor to be on your podcast 😄😅

thank you all for doing this podcast.
Matt: "hydrochloric axid"
Zane: "mitochondria"
I had appendicitis when I was 17, also thinking it was a bad stomach ache. After a couple days in I went to my primary doc and they gave me IV fluids and said I should go to the ER ASAP. Turns out the appendix already burst, BUT they didn't want to take it out. They instead put in drain tubes to get out the infectious liquid , kept me admitted for over a week, sent me home with IV ports to do at-home medications, and did the appendectomy 2 MONTHS later!
MARIAH AND MATT IMITATING THE QUEEN'S POSES ON THE MAGAZINE MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD

I love when Matt tells stories!! 😌😌
Matt trying not to laugh and "sssss"ing instead of laughing has me dyingggggg 😂
The fact that they’re excusing what the queen did to do many innocent people, they shouldn’t talk or give their opinion if they don’t know what happened or what lives they destroyed. People have every right to not like her doing on this world.
