Thanks for reacting to Rolling Quartz! Yes, they are very new. Debuted in December of 2020. Only been around for about a year and a half. So obviously they don't have many original songs. But still, checking out their original stuff would give you a better grasp of the band and their music. Holler, Rock and Roll paradise, Blaze, and Delight are their original songs I like. They recently uploaded live performance videos of these songs on their channel. I enjoy their live performances than their MVs personally. They used to do online live streaming concerts regularly. I really started to get into this band after watching these online concerts.

Enjoyed the reaction. I have a tendency to agree on the guitar tone. I generally like a thicker tone. But notice they both play SSS Strats. It kind of contributes to their signature sound. I've gotta say, I dig it! Actually inspired my to go out and buy an SSS Strat myself.

I don't know a lot about them myself, but I did know they are relatively new band.
I just checked and wikipedia says, they started in August 2019 and their first single was from 2020. So they are certainly still growing, especially because they basically lost most of that time to Covid.
I like it, but I agree it needs a little more for me as well. But I didn't really listen to rock any more for about 20 years time until Band-Maid last year changed that, so it's also still not 100% in my wheelhouse most of the time.
I do see a lot of potential though. I hope they can find a way to get rock a bit more popular in Korea and that they find a way to get their music noticed.

Thank you for your reaction to Rolling Quartz. I like their original song Delight. I hope you'll hear it someday. I saw your K/DA reaction. If you are favorable to K-pop, can I request the Dreamcatcher's PIRI reaction here? Dreamcatcher has some metal elements, so metalheads are the favorite group in K-pop.

Azalea, I should point out that it's actually a Maya cover. The poem "Azalea" is known by all Koreans as having a political message. After 1922 when poet Kim Sowol first published it, the poem was an influence during the 80s and 90s in South Korea during pro-democracy movements. You see, as crazy as it may sound, South Korea didn't actually become a democracy until 1997. When Maya did her song "Azalea" in 2003 by using the entire original poem as the chorus to her song (the verses around the chorus are new to Maya's song) every Korean understood it as being a political song. 2003 was a big year because that was the year when worldwide protests were held against the Iraq War. In Maya's video, some of the images you see are of the protests against the Iraq War. The poem "Azalea" is an anti-occupier message. Kim Sowol coded it as a poem about a break up because Japan did not allow Koreans to have freedom of speech so any overt criticism against Japan by Koreans at that time would've meant death.
Since the lyrics in Rolling Quartz's cover are exactly the same as Maya's, there is no difference in meaning. The significance with Rolling Quartz's version is the year that they released their cover. They released their cover this year in 2022. That's the 100 year anniversary of the publishing of Kim Sowol's famous "Azalea" poem.

"Azaela" is a cover by the Korean singer Maya, so it's still not an original song by Rolling Quartz. Check out their first single called "Blaze", this one is not a cover :)

@@Roninmann Don't feel bad, I thought it was an original also. But I enjoyed the Rolling Quartz version better. It sounds like rock. The original lacks the feeling of this cover.

This song "Azalea" is a remake of the original song by Maya - look it up - the original is so much better because Maya will crush this singer. Just watch Maya's live song. The song is 14 years old. Although, this band's vocalist is actually a very good singer, she can't touch Maya. Oh, i can go about the song as well, the setting of the MV is all wrong. This song is a very famous song in Korea.. By the way, this band annoys me so much. The reason is that the three guitarists are okay (but, can't touch all female Japanese bands), and the vocal is very good - probably better than a lot of the Japanese bands - the drummer annoys me to hell. She is always making poses and has no substance. She is always twirling the sticks and making attitude faces. And this girls twirls hers all the time if you watched their earlier MV's. And she is just an okay drummer. After a few songs, I stopped watching them. I've seen Haruna from Lovebites twirl her sticks maybe once among so many videos I've seen. Never seen Akane twirl her sticks. Why do you have to twirl you stick? It's okay if you do that maybe once in a blue moon. But, all the time? Stop it. Not impressed. If you do that when you are at the level of Haruna, Tamu Murata, Akane or even Kanade Sato, yeah, I will take that. But, this drummer is not all that.
Only good thing about this band is the vocalist. She is good. And I am not trying to ragging on the Koreans. I want them to succeed. I mean they have BTS for crying out loud. I've seen a bunch of high schooler from Korea Seoul Modern Music High Schools' annual end of year performance sets. There are a whole bunch of them on Ytube. They are incredible. And they are high schoolers. They were playing high level Jazz Fusion pieces and I am not joking, they were awesome. (just type Seoul Music High School). Not many female drummers but the one that drummed, she is so good. That's why I am very critical of the drummer here. She sucks. For those interested, here is a high schooler female drumming cover "Synergy" by Anika Nilles >>> ua-cam.com/video/XiffgB7vzug/v-deo.html (they are all high schoolers, amazing)

They're not a commercial group. They came together on their own. Do some research before making off-the-cuff comments.
