Soil is the most important yet the most complicated part of gardening and can feel overwhelming. This is good info and keeps it simple, thank you Randy!

I've been gardening for a long time, and I still love these videos. What I love best is how you make it so user and budget friendly. For instance, in other raised bed soil approaches there tends to be a RECIPE. You give the basics, but let folks know how to make adjustments based on what is available, and what to expect following those adjustments. Keep us smiling!

I have acres if land here in North Carolina. Some of it had a lot of brush. When we were clearing some of it we noticed that the solid was very rich and black. I am thinking I can dig up and sift enough soil for my 3 raised beds. Can I do this and add peat moss and black cow?

Hello Randy, YOU'RE THE BEST! Thank you for explaining the differences in soils, manure, coco coir, peat moss, vermiculite etc. I have seen so many people on your fb page asking these very questions. I just returned from camping over the weekend. I purchased several bags of sta green flower and garden vegetable bags and peat moss from Home Depot last Thursday and I need to go back this week for more bags for my raised beds of everything to include black kow manure. I have never used it. I do have my own compost pile. Thank you for this very informative video. Love you too! Thumbs up! Cheers. Regina

I’m in Northern Virginia and I’m using wool fleeces instead of coco core, if y’all have sheep farmers nearby, spring shearing season is on and I’m sure they would want to get rid of some of the ones that are not good for yarn 😉

You should try also getting a bag of Perlite, vermiculite, pumas, rice hulls or one of the common garden soil aeration sources. I don't think it is neccesary, but it will help.
Also it's a little bit over the top but there is a company called buildasoil that puts together kits for this buildasoil.com/products/buildasoil-take-n-bake-artisan-soil-building-kit?variant=44968106834 . I did it and it worked great, though maybe instead of spending that much it might be cool to simply copy their recipe on a smaller scale.

Yes I get the idea of the seed starting mix, but have had better success with the potting soil mix, when germinating seeds. So I tell people use what works for you, expect failures and successes and enjoy both similarly gardening is fun either way.

I didn’t know the difference but I planted a mango 🥭 seed on a bucket of Black Cow manure and it grew but died on me. It took 3~4 weeks to see it pop up and it grew for about 6~8 weeks before it died.
Still have pictures lol, need to try and grow more.
