I spent the whole time thinking "I don't remember Robin looking like that. But he does look familiar. 🤔". Then my brain kinda went "Oooooooooooh!" when he said Barnacle Boy. Top 10 twists in plain sight.

"You never knew what was going to happen when you pressed a button" is the most devastating review I can imagine for an action game.
Also insanely disappointing. The blueprint was entirely there for them to make a successful ARKHAM CLONE, and they apparently could not, on any level. They have made one of these before and it was totally fine, good even
I thought people liked that. They seemed to love Witcher 3 even though I hated it for this reason. You press LMB in Witcher 3 and Geralt can do anything ranging from a simple slash to ballerina spinning towards an enemy 20 meters away.
I played through Witcher3 multiple times and never had control issues. Sure it wasn't your controller or mouse?

Excellent zinger indeed, but it highlights even more how much of a tragedy it is that so many people in fact devoted so much time to developing a game that turned out so crap... What a waste of time and talent.
I wonder how much pointless development time went into the live service/cash economy side of the game that clearly was a core part of its design (cf. the crafting system) until the disaster of Avengers forced them to throw it all away.

The intensity of Shelby’s “I will kill cappy” shows we need more good co-op modes in single player games
1. Shelby's "Bye-a, Batsy!" was really on point!
2. Bugs aside, I personally loved the story of the game and seeing the interactions between everyone. It gave me TMNT vibes
3. Matt as Barnacle Boy is forever iconic
that's what makes the game so bad. co-op for this should be out of this world.

Developers usually (these days) have zero creative control. They're told what to do by directors who themselves are told what to do by the suits.
That being said, they should preface it by saying, almost anything can be fun with a friend, even poking at dog poop.

As much as I've enjoyed your comedy "reviews" in the past, I have to say, this style which is closer to a genuine review where you guys, specially Matt, are giving your honest thoughts about the game and talking about your experiences playing it....I really enjoyed this as well.
Maybe you could do this more frequently as it takes lesser effort like you said? And do proper "Girlfriend Review" episodes for Games you really want to. That way you can up the frequency of uploads and content.
Just my 2 cents. Will be here whatever you guys decide. :)

As someone who had been enjoying giving enemies massive head trauma in Gotham, this coop review HAS NO LIES. There is fun in here somewhere, and it is more enjoyable looking for it with a friend.
One of the best reviews of the game. It’s incredible how they can shamelessly offer you this unpolished crud for $60-$70

THANK YOU for the Zombies ate My Neighbors soundtrack implementation. The quintessential classic “spooky” game and an underrated soundtrack.
That really brought me back. And now I can’t get the sound of the trampolines in that game out of my head. Gotta find a way to play that again soon
I thought I recognized the music. Explains the subtle but growing sense of dread and frustration I felt watching the review. Like if you played the Silence of the Lambs theme over a cake making video.

Since there's no local co-op or even cross- play, they needed to get this game twice and play it on two separate PCs. They may be the only people who live together who could play this game together.
You sound ridiculous when did they ever say it was local co op it’s obviously a online game and on Xbox with license transfer I have two Xbox’s able to play so idk what you are talking about
@@prodigyl9027 when did i say they said it was local Co-op? They didn't say anything about that. My point is since the game is online only with no crossplay, they had to jump through a lot of hoops to play together. So the one thing they praised this game for, really won't work for people in a similar living situation as them.

The problem is developers are so obsessed by graphics and a game pushing the machines to the limits (especially on consoles where you can't upgrade them) that they forget options that people actually want.
They seem to assume that everyone wants to play online and doesn't want couch co-op.
Nerf the graphics a bit if needed (not the animations just the number of polygons per character + some particle effects), take away the untethered co-op and make people have to stay more together perhaps but get co-op to run in split screen.
I have seen at least one person (usually more) on any game that isn't same screen co-op ask for split screen but many developers seem to ignore this = epic fail for me.
I say this also as a guy who doesn't play split screen much at all these days and usually plays online but can appreciate that people want this option.

@@ginger_nosoul Thats not really forcing anyone, it sounds like a similar problem Ive had where a bunch of my friends would be into competitive mp and not single. Usually if youre into single player, playing co-op overlaps fairly easily

Shelby yelling "Bya, Batsie!" at the end was perfection
The flying cars is a symptom of how the game decides to load the assets from the host. So instead of the guest loading their own assets and sending that information to the host, it says "Hey, you got any cars you ain't using?" And the host is like "YEP, CATCH!" and yeets them across Gotham so that you can crash into them with the .04sec of reaction time it gives you to dodge.

I never ran into severe issues, I really enjoy the combat and the traversal stuff and the story that it all works for me :) it’s not amazing it could be more developed and have more stuff to further increase fluidity but it’s good fun :)
Fixing the targeting system would greatly improve my experience.

At 3:57 is the fight that made me switch from hard to normal... And not because of the difficulty... It was because the medic alone took 50 hits to finally take down on hard mode!... 50! This game hurts my soul. But you two are the best and your videos are pure gold! Thank you for that 🤗

Yeah I forgot to add that most of my attacks were criticals and I was using my abilities as well. It was rediculous

I'm a social worker in a LTC. One of our residents here has a son who is on the creative development team for this game.
This is not their fault. They wanted the game to be amazing, they worked hard to make the game amazing. At every turn they were thwarted by WB who
kept giving them notes, telling them how they wanted the game to be. And of course, the budget... it was all about that budget.
I'm not defending the final product, but just wanted to pass along that I actually had one of the big wigs in my office, and because I love games,
he actually took the time to chat with me and he knows how people feel about it and he wishes that the game would have been made with their
actual vision, rather than hobbled by WB execs who's bonus's are dependent on how much money they save the company every year.
When he said Robin I was kind of confused because I immediately thought barnacle boy

Time to review Arkham City to see what an open world Batman game is supposed to be like (and also to see where the Spider-Man game got its best ideas from).

I don't know. I love my time in Gotham, be it solo or coop when I'm in the mood. The story is really engaging and heartfelt at points. I like the segmentation of everything, be it cases or the patrols where you reap the chance to disrupt crimes from info you gathered the night before and while the combat can feel basic, on normal difficulty different elemental loadouts can make it fun. I am one of the lucky ones it seems, because the game runs smoothly on my PC and I also play with controller so the controls work perfectly for me. I've encountered 2 bugs, one where downed enemies may jerk on the floor, which is rare and another where Clayface hit me below the map once so I had to restart from checkpoint. Is it as good as the Arkham Series? No. Is it still one of the games I've enjoyed the most this year? Yes.

I love this game unironically. I've had no bugs in 40 hours. The combat becomes cool when the ennemies become stronger and you get more momemtum abilities.
Hard agree, I can definitely see why some people dont like it, that car bug had me dying😂☠, I havent came across anything like that yet lol. Honestly, Robin & Red Hood's combat is the best imo. Plus once you unlock the Nighthood trees for everyone it feels even better. I'd say it's definitely not worth 70$ but I am having fun with it

Wait did you two get the upgraded movement abilities? I haven’t touched the bikes at all after getting something like Nightwings glider, or Red Hood’s jump ability. The batcycles are only there for the early game and the specific time trials as far as I’m concerned lmao
Liked the review and format. It was fun! I guess I don't know what the original audio sounded like, but I found the ADR a bit weird/unnecessary. Only (minor) complaint though, and you probably could have saved even more time since I doubt anyone would care :D
