Thank you Casper! This was exactly my problem, and now, thanks to your great tutorial I can solve it! It looks really incredible that there is a similar bug about registration and multipads after so many firmware release....
Dear Casper, I found a really efficient and easy way to do that differently, without having to use additional Registrations to stop the previous ones. The only downside of it, is that it works for a specific song that you play. - I will explain it further ahead. The Idea is that if a Multipad does not repeat itself, then it will be eventually stop at a certain time that you determine, and it will not continue operating when you switch to the next Registration. This is true, assuming that most people deal with Multipads that are simple and that have a short phrase. O.K., so the way I do it is: - Switch OFF the Multipad "Repeat" option, - Then, in the "StepEdit" section you limit the time of each note in the phrase (you can shorten it or extend it as much as you need). I determine the time-range of the note upon the length of the song-part that right after it I switch to the next registration. This way, the Multipad will end and stop right before I change to the next Registration. Since most Multipads have a simple and short phrase, it is very easy to do. So, although it works only for a specific song that you play, it is so quick and easy to program, that you can do it for any other song as well. It works great for me, and I don't have to use additional Registrations to stop the previous ones. If you like this solution, it will be great for everyone here If you could demonstrate it in one of your great videos.
Dear Lahav, thanks for the suggestion and good advice for using the multipad. If I understand correctly, you envisioned something similar to what I described in this video. ua-cam.com/video/OiWiZm7zYmQ/v-deo.html However, it would be best if Yamaha would enable new functions for the multipad, then there would be no need for such interventions.
Dear Casper, thanks. As you said, we hope that Yamaha will fix that fault in their next upgraded firmware. Your video you referred to reminds it, but, until Yamaha fix this problem, I found that for me, I can use it with every built in Multi-Pad, stop the Repeat function, limit the phrase time and there I have much easier solution than adding another Registration action to stop a Multi-Pad. Addition registration action is not a good solution for me, especially when I perform in front of an audience. It's just not practical. If I limit the Multi-Pad time, I don't have to worry about additional Registration action, and although it matches a specific song, It is very easy and quick to do (it takes maybe 2 minutes to set it up). Take care and I'm looking forward for your next videos.
Brilliant! I used to reduce the multipad volume to zero and save it in the second registration instead, but your trick is better. Yamaha could think about this use case actually, maybe in Genos 2 :) Well done and and thanks for sharing this idea.
Casper, It was also written in the past, make a multipad with for empty parts in it. Better is that Yamaha do sommething about this problem. Ad Koolmees the Netherlands.
Thanks for your tutorials Casper they are very useful and simple in the explanations. If I may I would like to ask you a question about multipads; are you aware if the sycro stop is activated and the multipads on hold are active I play a chord and the multipads start I release the chord (left hand) and the accompaniment stops together with the multipads I practically break there is a possibility that after the break do the multipads restart automatically? I hope I was clear and thanks if you answer me
@@CasperVideo Thanks for the reply, I thought it wasn't possible. I had tried everything and failed. You should implement this function of multipad stop and go to create a break. Yamaha should provide. Good music Casper
And it is a good approach, but it has one drawback. If you directly start a new multipad, it will not be heard because the Volume is set to zero. I follow your channel, you have great performances.
Please advise: I have a programmable Korg nanoPAD2 and I want to use its pads to turn each pad on and off individually on my Yamaha sx900. Where can I find a list of CC#/MIDI/Program Change/Control message commands and is this even possible with my Yamaha SX900?

Hold the SELECT button at the multipad, select one or more multipads (00:21). If SYNCH START is turned on at ACOMP, you immediately have synchronized multipad and Style.
I think I understand the question now. One Multiapad bank is automatically connected to each Style. It is permanently determined by the factory rhythms, and if you want to make a different selection, you have to save it in the USER style. Watch this video, you can activate the subtitles and the language that suits you. Feel free to ask if something is not clear to you. ua-cam.com/video/vpPLs2bdYQw/v-deo.html
It can also be accessed that way. A problem arises if we want to activate a new MP directly, without registration. Then we need to turn up the volume again. In what sense is the method you propose more flexible?
It is also a good solution, but it has one drawback. If we next start multapad directly (without using registrations), the volume will be at the value 0 and will not be heard.
