- 4x4 conversion on a1987 Lindy Motorhome.
Conversion done by the previous owner.
Dana 60 front end with an NP 205 Transfer Case.
4'' lift
33'' tires all around.
Air bags in the rear.
She cleaned up real nice.
Best of all, everything works.
I have a 2011 Cambrea E450 I had lifted and converted to 4X4. But gotta love the shorter square body of this era, and the fact they didn't get crazy on wheels and tires seems to make it all blend in. BTW- Bad Company was one of the many 8 Track tapes I wore out in my old 69 Ford hippy van cruising with my crew to concerts in the 70's. Great memories, or those I can remember...
Very cool! I had a '88 26 footer. Looked amost the same on the outside. Camped in the So. Cal desert for 14 years with it. Loved that 460!
Love this motorhome. It's brilliant
Very nice build, and thanks for sharing! I love that the dash and steering wheel haven't been molested by a second party builder. It's the real deal XLT offering.
What a beautiful rig!
Great looking rig. Looks perfect, I'm jealous, everything except for the 460, I'd hate to pay for the gas to drive that beauty.
I love the RV I have an 88 Ford 460 big block I want to do the same thing too because you never know what’s around the corner and you need that 4 x 4 The best thing is your design is awesome because nobody knows unless you look underneath the thing
Nah, it totally looks like it has 4WD.
That’s really cool for traveling around now love it
awesome
If the lindy’s a rockin, don’t come a knockin
If that combination of images and that song doesn't stir up the sense and lust for adventure and good times in my has been body, then I would be dead.
Almost perfect, just missing some nice flames down the sides, oh, and some balls of course.
That machine is crushing!
Perfect song for the video 👍
wow, that is amazing, I just love it.....very strong drivetrains, and the 460 wasn't ever the most powerful engine ever made, but lots of torque and decent fuel milage ( which are both more important in this application) I think its just perfect, man I love it, would just love to own that....great job to whoever built it....better and stronger than any new one you can buy, this will still be running strong decades later ( as long as you can still buy fuel anyhow....lol)
It was done by JoDo Fab. Now a friend who loves to fabricate. I've gone through it extensively to refurbish it. Have a list of over 170 things I've done; including adding a cable twin stick.
You must be very confused? The 460s are very powerful engines and have great torque also. And they have very very bad gas mileage compared to diesels and other v8s. But it has the power of a diesel if not more in some cases (depending on what engine)
That's an awesome rig
Good morning. After watching your video last year I found one. 1989 24foot 4x4. It was converted by the original owner by quigley in PA. I’m in the process of making it beach ready.
I have a lot of questions any way we can talk ??
Nice lindy!
Perfect. Wish I could find a clean one stock let alone with all the mods.
I have the 1988 26 foot. Would love to 4x4 it!
Now THAT'S nice!
Too cool
I have an 86 w/o the 4x4. I am in the process of restoring it. Does not need much. The access doors need rebuilt. The plastic screw cover strips are brittle and some are cracking. I am trying to locate replacements with no luck. I see them for sale and the morons do not give the dimensions. Mine are 1/4 in deep and 7/16 wide. If anyone else knows where to find I would appreciate it. Yours is awesome.
Very. NIce.
Gosh I need to find one of these! Found some close but none with 4x4 set up like this. How much was the conversion or did this come 4x4 ready. Would love to know average MPG as well if able.
Nice!!!
love it
cool
Big boy!
Hi, I'm building a similar one.
Could you tell me if you had to modify the rear replacements or are they 6.5 inches from stock? Also if you put spacers on the dually so they don't rub
I wait your answer
Thanks a lot
Yea pretty much the choice I would do that with, unless the engine has been swapped or something the only computer in that should be a cell phone.
Would you be interested in doing another, this time a 26fter, How much....
What lift kit do you have?
Getting 96 Dana 60 axles today. But what year leaf spring should I get?
I would love one of these. Let me know if you want to sell.
Was this a direct conversion or did you have to buy or fab brackets? Looking to put a 1996 f350 front suspension with brackets
It appears the brackets were fabbed. I did not do the conversion.
Do ya have a build video of this?
Your rig is bad to bone man! Does it have a limited slip/posi in the front and rear?
How did you lift it
Bad Company by Bad Company
Nice Lindy! how long is it? I am looking at a lindy 18 feet 1984.what kind of mileage do you get?Cheers
7-8, but most of my traveling is in the mountains.
Thank you for the fast reply kayaktote.yes it is kinda low but like you say, most of your travelling is in the mountains plus it is a 4x4 and they are heavier due to the heavy duty suspension.Enjoy and be safe on your travels.Oh and by the way nice choice of music! awesome song.Cheers
What is he length?
It's a 20' motorhome but with the bumper and box on the back it measures 23'8'' end to end.
is it for sale.
how much?
Everything is for sale for the right price. LOL It is definitely not for sale, but thank you for asking. I put this video up to show my family, who is out of state, what we bought.
I have an 85 4x4 Falcon e-250 van 4x4. I need a bumper like that.Any idea who sells them for these older vans
I'm pretty sure the bumper was from a '94 F350 and some mods were done (cutting and welding) to make it fit.
Thanks!
Thanks.
Can I have it?
