Not a Cat guy but, man, that thing is sick looking! - in a good way. Glad to see they’re back “in the game”! Competition in this industry is great for us consumers. Can’t wait to see what they do with this chassis! 850? 900? Turbo???? Exciting times - especially if you’re a Cat fan who’s been waiting patiently since 2012 for a new design! Good work Cat! And great work bringing us this review ST! 👍🏼👍🏼

My First Arcticcat was a 1971 634 Puma. I drag raced when I was 15 a 75 440 Z and a 340 Z and my Puma. We raced in the WSRF. We did awesome. Arcticcat all the way up to the mid 2000s was the best snowmobile out there. I had no problem beating much bigger sleds with my 900ZR. It’s all in the clutching. Getting the HP to the track.

Why doesn’t cat have one out in Revelstoke this winter for demos?? If they want people to buy them next season, probably a good idea.

I'm one of those 49 year old live in yesteryear type of Cat riders who grew up in the muscle sled era, complain about new sled prices, have ridden buddy's newer sleds, been unimpressed, and still own and ride 2001 long tracks with a taller seat, taller handlebars with lots of horse power while tuning all of my own stuff. I can honestly say this is probably the first time in 20 years that because of videos like this, I'm actually excited to ride a new Cat chassis. I'm sure it's very nice and would like to ride one to see what a nice job they've done on it. They don't have the grunt/hp/acceleration I want but this does look like a great new chassis, belt drive, great traction ect...this is finally a Cat sled I'm excited to take a ride on someday. Now if I can find a way to swap a 200+hp triple in it.. :) Thank you for the incredible common sense videos you guys put out intended to educate, critique and inform potential owners based on your years of experience riding all of the models and being great ambassadors for the sport.

Awesome walk around :-) I think Snowtrax has struck twice with me ! About 10 years ago after watching your video (AJ's review) of the "then new" ZR6000 El Tigre, I was sold! I bought it, first new sled ever for me, and I couldn't of been happier 🙂 I regret selling that sled to this day 😞 I sold it to upgrade to a more powerful ZR 8000 because I thought I "needed" more power. I do like the added power, but for the tight twisty trails I ride, that El Tigre was ALOT better ! I miss the lighter feeling, the better fuel milage, and lower oil consumption that 600 had over my 800. I can't wait for the full review, I think I'll have no choice but to buy this sled too , my bank account hates you !!!!

Very good review of a totally new sled. Like that you touched on the 600 and it's capabilities. True the 600 on the trails is more usable power that most riders will use. The 800 850 and turbos don't make the corners the rider does. It's how much intestinal fortitude a rider has when you go through the corners and whoops. Have rode with guys that have the big cc's and talk a big story, but at the stop signs, my sled cools down, waiting for them. Exciting new sled with some trick and new technology.

This thing though, I mean, cats and yamahas do look prety cool for the past, idk 5ish years. But this is the best looking and best designed sled of the past decade like you said, without a doubt! The next generation will see a 800 or 850 for those who want it, but you cant beat a 600 for what they are!

It's interesting to see more of the belt drive option on today's sled. Back in 2010, I installed a belt drive on my trail sled (Mxz 120" xp) and many of my friends laughed at me... I'm still running the same sled and same belt drive today and can attest for it's durability - and ZERO issues with using a belt vs. a chain. Although as general PM on it, I change out the belt every 4K miles... however, I don't think that's even necessary. My setup is a PB80 primary, team TSS04, TKI Belt drive, 1.5" ripsaw track... The rotating mass savings from the clutching to the belt drive is very noticeable; especially for the 500SS motor that is my engine... Glad to see AC designing the catalyst platform - from an engineering stance, it's got to be incredible having the engine sit 1" lower in the frame. Great job AC!

I'm more of a Polaris guy and honestly this is intriguing. honestly if they make and 800 or 850 crossover version of this with regular rails, 146' x 2' track and a reliable engine! Also curious if they be able to make them with putting the turbo 4 stroke in there.

Finally completion is back. Hey other guys, easy to remove panels get on it. Biggest gripe on my skidoo sleds have been hood removal. Make it tooless so we could easily pull the hood on the trail if we had to or just make maintenance easier. Belt drive is cool and cool to see on a trail sled, only down side is the space by your toe.

    • @pavmentsurfer13
      @pavmentsurfer13 Рік тому +1

Polaris has super easy to remove panels and hood also. But this may be better. Also, the belt drive doesnt intrude into the footwell any more than a chaincase would. Less actually.

I'm a Polaris guy, but if Cat offers a twin rail option in the M, I think I'd order one. Even if it just had the Ctec 800 in it. I've always had a soft spot for Cat, I think they're consistently the best looking sled on the snow.....they always look menacing and I love it haha.
One thing I've noticed in these reviews is nobody shows the new gauge - are are they keeping the same gauges off the Pro Climb??
"It's got a center mounted pull chord, which doesn't make a difference, but at least you have one. Some sleds don't even have one." LOL!
BRP are now the only ones now with a chain case. And it's (still) right in the way of your foot. I wonder how long it will take for them to switch to a belt drive so us Polaris guys can say "tHeRE gOEs dOO cOPyiNG pOLaRiS." JK. We wouldn't do that. We can act like adults.
Thanks for the review Luke! Been eagerly awaiting this one!!

Catalyst is a game changer! It looks great, reviewers say its the best handling sled on the trails, and the M versions may be the best Mountain sleds. Lets hope the big bore engine is atleast a 880-920 cc and possibly comes in two versions, an N/A version about 175HP, and another optional version with a small turbo for about 190HP.

Instrument panel does it have a GPS like the 7s on Polaris? Can you guys do a video on snowmobile else of service for the DIY guy that would like to keep his sled, example: service for chaincase what manufacturer have a drain plug. Easy install of plugs, belt changes. Real world weight Comparables in the 600 class and an 800 class lightest to heaviest for trail purposes. Great buyers guide for the guy looking for a new sled, value for the dollar 👍😊 thanks hope to see it happen in the near future 😊

Very interested to see what people think of it in the riot model. I could be very interested in that. I know the zr and rxc will be a better full trail burner but if the riot can come somewhat close but have the fun factor the full trails sleds can miss then I could possibly see a 600 being ok fun.
