This is absolutely awesome. My primary frustration with CAD is how restrictive it is. There are so many useful features in 3D modeling programs like Maya and Blender which could be incorporated into CAD, but no company is willing or able to do it. Adding these CAD must haves to your versatile software is great. I really hope this keeps going!
everything i said negative about plasticiy was wrong. i stand humbly corrected... THIS,,,, IS,,, THE,,, FUTURE of CAD....... wow. i am blown away. I am going to buy as soon as its on sale!!!!
Amazing! Many people will appreciate the new dimension system. Personally, I am most excited about the new tangent functions, it will be even more fun now to create curves & shapes. Looking forward to 2.0
I have old indie licence, so I hope we will get as many updates as possible before version 2.0 :P :) (old indie license only work 1.x version). But this update is fenomenal. Now Plasticity can use for more tech work.
For the kind of designs I do, the dimensions feature is a LIFESAVER, especially for resizing insert holes WITHOUT having to redo them. And having annotations will help immensely
Based on this news announcement, I purchased Plasticity earlier today, and am now running through some tutorials with Nikita Kapustin. The dimensions and space mouse support make a huge difference. Thank you so much for these feature editions and your very reactive development!
Not knowing anything about 1.4 I was actually thinking about buying Plasticity just 2 days ago! Guess it's time now! You really deserve a lot of credit for your hard work.
I haven't really started becoming proficient with this yet, but I'm so happy to have bought it an support your excellent work Nick. Thanks for being such a leader in this
What an absolutely fantastic update, with these features I can definitely see this becoming a very attractive software option among 3D printing hobbyists. Especially with the shenanigans going on with the licensing options from certain major players in that field. Cheers!
I would just like to say, I've been using Plasticity to 1) Learn CAD modeling in general, and 2) design an engagement ring. These features are absolutely amazing for both of these goals. Thank you Nick!
This is incredible software, so impressive! Thanks for all the wonderful and well thought out tools. I hope you sell millions of copies to reward your brilliance, ha ha.
This is awesome! Missing dimensions was the main reason I didn't start using Plasticity back when 1.0 was released, but now I'm going to give it a try again.
I don't know how you implemented the space mouse since I don't own Plasticity yet, (you're almost there, keep those juicy updates coming to push me over the edge 🤣) but if you want to make it 10x more useful add a option to make movement relative to the viewport. Nothing is more confusing than watching from a weird angle and the part speeding away because the part moves in the global Axis... looking at you Freecad...
Wow, very cool! It is absolutely the right decision to move a little more towards CAD, this will give assets for games accuracy, which is important for game levels in the correct sizes. I think industrial designers will be delighted too.
A sugestion for dimensions would be to have dimensions implemented like they are in Revit, where you have the dimensions that you draw always visible (you can hide them if you want as in Plasticity), and then have a set of temporal dimensions when you select an object that will be active only when certain object is selected and they are relative to that object and some other objects around it. If that makes sense. Great update!
Everything in your software is excellent except the export (save as) options. Would love to see more formats like FBX as well as more options in the import options.
You created a Winner! I believe Plasticity is perfect for my designing motorcycle plastic parts! I bought the Indio and prefer this licensing model. I am very happy with the tutorials especially with those from Nikita Kapustin. Shout outs - also to Pixel Fondue, LEAD, Alexandru Molnar, Jon Moberly Creative 3D... and many others!!!
COOL !! finally "Plasticity" works with 3D Space Mouse!! Yupii!! the only thing I miss here is turning on and off the "Z" axis, which often simply interferes with creating structures. There should be a separate icon for this, next to the "Perspektive" icon (and also a keyboard shortcut). Thanks and greetings from Austria.
Wow!!!!! I have been asking for live update dimensions for a long time in direct modeling modes of software like NX, Solid works, Fusion. That feature is a game changer for direct modeling
Amazing work, I have been waiting for these features! Good to see it getting some attention finally 🙂 I think its the perfect time as well for you, with fusion 360 leaving the hobbyist scene. I think many are looking for alternatives for 3d printing and such. 👏
As a decades-long Rhino user that is looking to simplify my toolset, Plasticity looks fantastic. If you ever include a command line to make migration easier, I'd be an instant buyer. Learning all new shortcuts is just too much of a barrier for change. Edit: Wait, is that a command/search feature I see?
The dimensioning function is very nice... but in the future you can add small arrows to the dimension lines, it will look better, and the dimension lines can have a different color (e.g. orange) or even better, the color of the dimension lines can be colored freely (as is). e.g. with the selection of the interface background)...🙂👌👍👍👍
REQUEST: Scripting capabilities. WHY: - Faster exploration of new shapes in prototyping - More reliability. - Extract all of Plasticity’s juices in new ways, while sparing on UI development. THANKS: Plasticity has been my main working software for the last 4 months! Measurement and curve tangency are a great additions! Keep up with the great work!
I think these quality-of-life improvements are undervalued by both larger software companies and the casual users of those programs ("where are the new features?"). I've had to turn to learning Python just to make simple quality-of-life shortcuts that I wish were included as standard! Thanks for giving this kind of thing attention, Nick. Great software!
This is awesome! You're making me want to try it out instead of the software I use now. The only thing that's holding me back is that I need a non-destructive workflow. If there is one, I would consider using this 100%.
I've always had an interest in 3D & for me, the attraction used to be between Blender & Houdini; however, as Blender development furthered, I felt like the standouts of other projects started to fade for me; Plasticity is the first program in a long time to relight that for me.
FYI the new installer doesn't over-write it into appdata>local>plasticity like all the previous installers did, so running the installer doesn't update the old version or uninstall it either. So you end up with 2 versions when it does that. Also I can't state enough how happy I am to see a better dimensioning system. I've been drawing so many line segments in the past for the sake of measurements and snap-points!
You're killing it man. You guys and JangaFX are truly a breath of fresh air in the 3D space.
chanting: dimensions! dimensions! dimensions!
I have been patiently waiting for these - by far the most intuitive software for 3d printing how ✳️

I have 1.3 versión. How can I install new versión?
Finally. Lack of good measurements is very frustrating for more tech work. Now Plasticity is very good CAD, not only for artist.
Superb! Thanks for all your hard work - this will be invaluable for 3D printing. 👍🏻😎
For the kind of designs I do, the dimensions feature is a LIFESAVER, especially for resizing insert holes WITHOUT having to redo them. And having annotations will help immensely
I love this new dimension workflow. This makes plasticity *exactly* my personal, ideal blend of art + CAD. And spacemouse support too!
That measurement option - definitely on top of my wishlist! Thank you!
Excellent update as usual! I'm very satisfied with the amount of work you manage to pour into this project, purchasing a license was so worth it!
And now I want to upgrade to a studio licence
I am excited for the future of Plasticity, such a fun learning journey so far for me!
Brilliant work! Plasticity is the most exciting indie-friendly CAD development tool to appear in the course of my career to date.
This package is quickly becoming a total winner!
As engineering student this is amazing!

Amazing, thanks! Next year we will go to the Studio version!
I was waiting to see functionality like this from the beginning. I am buying a license NOW.
Top tier license bought and paid for. Let's goooooooo.
I woke opened youtube and went to prep some coffee in the background, I saw this update, got hooked and left the coffee 😂
man this is amazing!
OMG Measurements and so much more. To soon for xmas but I'll take it :)
Holy smoking toledo! I can't believe it... Finally it has SpaceMouse support!!! 🥰🥰🥰
thank you so much for the space mouse support❤
I haven't really started becoming proficient with this yet, but I'm so happy to have bought it an support your excellent work Nick. Thanks for being such a leader in this
OMG! The new measure tool is INSANE! 100% and I can now use my SpaceMouse... Great work Nick 🙂
those bezier tools are VERY neat! thanks!

Absolutely awesome. Wanted this since the beginning.
Your work continues to impress
It's really cool to see this program evolve and improve over time! Keep up the great work
Fantastic additions to the program.
Sweet Baby Jesus, this is huuuuuuge! Plasticity is by far the best piece of software i bought in the recent years. Awesome! You rock!
this app is getting better and better
Awesome improvements. I am so excited to use Plasticity now.
Great additions !!
& german friend is welcome )
This is incredible software, so impressive! Thanks for all the wonderful and well thought out tools. I hope you sell millions of copies to reward your brilliance, ha ha.
It's just huge!!! Plasticity is great product! Big CAD vendors already called? They should be worrying))))
No, no, no, the last thing we as users need is a software giant swallowing a business with a great product and then let it die.
@@pjhgerlach Agree and hope it won't happen. Just judging from general big company habits and progress Plasticity makes.
Proud to be an early adaptor of this software.
This thing gets always better and better 🎉
You're on fire Nick! Even though I've been very pleased with Plasticity, I've been secretly hoping these updates would come!
Favorite soft which I has awesome experience about cad modeling
Nick you are a craftsman.
Beautiful stuff Sir 😃
Yes! Thank you for your hard work on this baby!
Who has the most recent set of starting from scratch beginner tutorials for Plasticity?
A great job, you are a machine! Thanks for everything 🎉
This is awesome! Missing dimensions was the main reason I didn't start using Plasticity back when 1.0 was released, but now I'm going to give it a try again.
Wow, this hits such a great sweet spot now for prop modeling and hobbyist 3d printing.

Amazing stuff! All that I need now is the ablity to add mechanical threads to holes and I'd be able to switch over to Plasticity for 100% of my work
WOW, I've been waiting for this!!! Thanks!!!!
I'm buying it this weekend. :) Keep up the good work.

measurements!! at last! no more drawing a line to know the distance 😄
I just bought the indie version today.
11:23 - Am I seeing this right, the dimensions act like a constraint? If so, this is a game changer... Christmas has come early!

Excellent! The non-destructive or parametric modelling option will be a game changer. Will be my final farewell to Fusion and Shapr3D🙃

Muchas gracias por tus aportaciones. Soy ingeniero y necesitaba estas herramientas, a ver para cuando organizas un curso completo 😉
Im not even CAD man, but god i love Plasticity as a modeling tool. ❤

Really so cool Update , exactly I was waiting for this ! thank's a lot !
Hell yea for the spacemouse support!
Incredible work!
Amazing!!! Keep it going!!

At this point, I barely care about new features. I just want everything to be simpler, easier to do, and faster

hell yeah
ah good to see you guys are getting a use-case finally. It was either start adding precision-based tooling or add texturing support for games.
These new features are amazing! Thank you!
darn - this is a great update.
A few more fundamental decisions and people will quit Fusion 360.
loving it!

here since day one or years ago :)
It would be really great if we could change values of already created dimensions and the model could be rebuilt according to the new dimensions
If I remember correctly Nick once commented that parametric modelling is not planned until v2. But it apparently IS coming. =)

FYI the new installer doesn't over-write it into appdata>local>plasticity like all the previous installers did, so running the installer doesn't update the old version or uninstall it either. So you end up with 2 versions when it does that.

Just run exe from 1.4.1 folder. For example C:\Program Files\Plasticity\app-1.4.1 - run exe from app-1.4.1 folder, not Plasticity folder. .
Mega Cool.
Amazing update, thank you :)
