My daughter shoots this same model. We call it the green weanie. She won the state 4H championship smallbore 3P and silhouettes using it, only thing different was changed the scope. Tried several kinds of ammo, including high dollar Eley stuff...best accuracy was with CCI SV!! Dropped the rams consistently at 100 yds off hand--those are the wee little 1/5 scale size too!. Headed to the 4H Nationals this next June with it.
She'll be shooting the Savage A22 for the CMP rimfire sporter part of the championships. She really likes the Accutrigger and does well with it-first shots after sighting in the A22 was a tight cloverleaf at 50 yds. @@Lowballinoutdoorz
I like the fact that you show the bullet impacting the target. We don't often see this in other videos, and somehow there's just something satisfying in seeing that bullet actually hit the paper. The SK ammo shows a lot of promise in this rifle. Many have said that in order to get the utmost accuacy from a particular load you have to run a few magazine back to back of it. The theory is that there are different lead compositions and different lubricants applied to the lead from different manufacturers, and this affects accuracy as the barrel is coated with those (2 new to the gun)compounds. Some claim an erratic load can become more consistent, or a 1 1/2'' groupcan after a few mags become a 1/2'' grouping load. I don't know if that is all that common, but I do find that when I shoot 25-30 rounds of a certain match ammo in 3 or 5 shot groups, the groups do sometimes tighten. At todays prices that does become expensive fairly quickly. However, we saw that Riton scope and we know that it isn't a budget scope. Riton has less expensive scopes, but this 1 (if I'm not mistaken) is north of $500. As the range increases, shooting tiny groups is easier with a scope with good clarity
Every time I change ammo I usually clean barrel and run 10 to rewax the barrel. But ya, definitely I belive you need to do some prep work before changing ammo. The scope is a riton x1 conquer it's around $250ish. But it seems to be a good scope thanks for watchin Frank
I have the same rifle in a Boyds At One stock, and it absolutely loves Norma Tac 22. One hole consistently at 50 yards and MOA at 100 yards. Great combo...
@@Lowballinoutdoorz I know... I've been shooting pretty regularly, but this one man shooting/filming/editing (you know) just started feeling like a chore instead of being fun. I have some shooting buddies, but they haven't been joining me much for the last year. There is a new Long-Range rimfire built near me. I plan on taking video on that with my CZ 457 MTR and my Savage Mark II FV-SR
I started NRL22 with the savage and it was okay stepping into the game but quickly wanted more. I had flyers almost each stage and the bolt was less then smooth. I was able to learn the skills needed for the match but definitely need a better rifle. I’m still running the same stock on my new rifle and will be doing a series of videos once all the new stuff comes in
I have three Savage boat guns, I find if you open the boat before you insert the clip no problems. Sometimes they don't lock in if the boat's not open.
Recently I improved consistency on my FVSR by raising the action out of the stock by shimming it up with stainless steel washers. only thing that touches the stock now are the bosses that the screws go into.. much more solid feel. *poor mans pillars* torqued to 20 inch pounds... edit: forgot to mention i also use the DIP thicker bottom metal.
My cz 457 has the same stock, just a different color. My local club has two guys running that rifle for ara competition in factory class, however they never shoot well enough to beat the cz’s, tika t1x, or bergara b14r’s. They do beat the 3 ruger precision rimfire’s on a constant basis though.
I just bought a Savage FV-SR, I put it in a At one stock forest camo I just got my 6x24 Arken scope. I haven’t sighted it in yet, but hopefully be able to do that this weekend.
😂my club has a shoot at 50 75 100 150 and 200. Also shoot 50 yard bench. I do ok. The truth is this rifle shoots better than I can. Nice video love that Boyd's stock
My wife uses a CZ 457 with a Boyd AT-One stock. I cost double what the Savage rifle costs, and really doesn't group any better. Her rifle groups best with "Wolf Match Target" ammo, just a bit better than your rifle with the SK ammo...but you could try more ammo also. All in all, the Savage is a SUPER BARGAIN. I can't imagine it wouldn't serve for any purpose a .22 rifle is needed for. I just purchased a Savage MKII BTVS for $355, exactly half what my wife's rifle cost. (mine has a Boyd's "camo laminated" thumbhole stock, not the AT-One stock) I haven't had it out yet, but we will get out to shoot them side by side next week.
@@Lowballinoutdoorz We'll see Wednesday morning. BTW, I love .22 handguns and rifles and have several really good quality rifles and handguns. They get used more than any other firearms we (my wife and I) own. I have nothing against spending much more money on a good rifle/scope which will be used a lot...but I can't pass up a rifle with the reputation of the Savage MKII for $350.
Good shooting Hulk Hogan I have a gun like that but it's got the short barrel 16 in and it shoots fantastic I haven't shot no match bullets but I'm going to have to try some.

The main thing I hate about Savage rim fire is the mag's I bought a ten round mag for my 93B and if I load it passed 8rds it won't free it hits the front of the mag, I hear people say bend the feed lips but that doesn't work it's a problem with the follower that makes the bullet nose dive it's plain as day that it's an engineering problem and after all these years I don't think Savage gives a fook
