Most people have no idea Zack is talking about how white supremacy has infiltrated the police forces across America and are justified by their killing of innocent minorities. He's pretty obvious in what he's saying.
You can always tell the people who are hearing this for the first time because you can see them blink when they hear "some of those who work forces are the same burn crosses"
Its crazy cuz he never says what they're actually "killing in the name of", nobody mentions it, its like its a double meaning cuz nobody wants to come out and say they're "killing in the name of racism", but at the same time its his statement that they're killing in the name of absolutely nothing, its just hatred.
I've seen a couple of videos around of different Black men discovering Rage Against the Machine. It's so heartwarming. I mean, I have no idea how sort of culturally isolated RATM is, if they're really that unknown in the Black community...? I'm a seriously white guy. But I love to see them shared.

We're ALL victimized by the same shit - red, yellow, black, brown or white! Slavery has been around for centuries. It's run ALL gammets,ALL races, ALL colors! ZION is the running problem! The New World Order, Agenda 2030, etc., etc., etc. There are a few OWNERS of this world - for centuries through blood and money - that make all the decisions for what we see, hear and believe. UNTIL NOW! Use it til' you lose it! Wake the world and stand side by Motherfucking Colorful Side!!!
From what I understand the original lyric was “ Some of those who hold office, are the same that burn crosses...” but their record label made them change it.
Tom Morello has got to be one of if not the most talented guitarist of all time. I vote 11 out of 10 for that solo. The lyrics and meaning of their songs are even higher than that. Very relevant with what's going on today. Them and System of a Down were before their time. We should've listened to the lyrics, not just heard the music.
I feel this comment. I was introduced to rock music just by cruising the radio. I stopped on a station and never changed the channel. I listened to RATM and SOTD and didn't listen to the words. Now almost 20 years later I HEAR and UNDERSTAND it. Ty
I was just saying how it is sad that this song might be even more relevant now than it was in 1992 and I wished I would have listened more and more myself I hope we can all do more now this shit has got to stop and there are police still doing horrible things right now on the protest on camera all over the place it’s crazy

Tom Morello is a guitar god! In the Game "Guitar Hero" he was the boss character... Watch him take the cord out of the guitar and play the strings with the plug!... Also listen to Rage's albums. They are all dope!
There is definitely a Rock show culture when it comes to Mosh Pits and stage diving. It's pure energy and worth the experience at least once. There is nothing like it. 🔥🤘🤘
That look, right when he first says "are the same that burn crosses". The way your eyes got a little big. You heard exactly what they were saying, and I'm not sure you quite believed they said it until the next time he said it. Fantastic reaction.
What a privilege to be able to hear RaTM for the first time... wish I could go back and hear it again for the first time! As relevant today as it was nearly 30 years ago.
This song was also written around the time of the Rodney King beating and Zach was talking to his producer Garth Richardson he told him it was important to write what he was feeling at that time. This was the end product. Btw this is my fifth time I have watched you and I just subbed!
If you heard that scream, that was me in Cincinnati when you said “I’ve only been to two concerts”. WHAT?! Dude. Nothing better than 3 hours of letting go of everything and vibing to the band and the crowd.
This song back in the 90's was a warning...no one listened....the police are a hell of a lot better then they were in 80's and 90's...this was when people started to speak out and change finally is starting...still a long way to go...and in the live he says that they hold office...and they do... they are still in office from the 80's and 90's, they have got to get out of office!

I'm of the opinion that pauses are necessary in reaction videos, but I'm right with you on this one. It's 2:30am where I'm at right now, and I'm pretty sure I just woke my roommate up by yelling "NO!" at my computer screen. Worst possible spot to continuously pause it. Ugh. Oh well. EDIT 2: HE KEEPS FUCKING PAUSING IT. I'm out of here.

Damn, seeing the date on this posted video and I have chills knowing that history would repeat itself in a few short days! I was a young girl the first time playing this at full blast. Now I am much older with tears screaming hear them this time!!!!! RIP George Floyd! xx
"Rock is an event. Everyone is a part of it." Dude, you just tapped into one of the biggest draws of the genre. We can't all be the ones on stage but we can all ROCK OUT together. That's why it feels like such a community even when it's all strangers.
Just watching the news this morning out of Minnesota where a cop kepts his knee on a black man's neck for 7 minutes and the man died. (Oh, but it's just a few bad apples, don't think badly of the police force - again. And again. And again.) At least the four cops that were involved are already fired. It wasn't long ago, the whole dept. would have worked to cover it up as much as possible.
About the stage diving style: I was at a gig with stage diving once. I even had a go myself, it was awesome. However, there was this one guy... He jumped out _feet first_ wearing big military boots. The crowd just instantly parted like the red sea before Moses, and he hit the floor ass first. I don't know if he broke his tail bone or not, but he hobbled out of the venue. That's definitely _not_ the way to do it.
They were going to tour this year. Concert tickets would sale out in 30min. All tickets were general admission at one price and 100% of proceeds went to charity. A Different charity in each city.
I love your reaction when you get it. It has been said 'a bad apple spoils the bunch' and RATM spoke about this. You should check out all of their albums. They are amazing and still relevant today.
Saw them in Oakland on November 19, 1999. If you can see them live some day. And that guitar solo is 10/10 man. Its not even a "guitar solo" really the way he makes it sound like a turntable.
Hello from France. I know it is kinda late to react to your reaction video. But I have to thank you, with SOAD and RATM, all those video you react to, are bands I was listening 10 to 15 years ago if not more. Your appreciation of it enlight my days, so thank you mate.
Just found your channel. Love that music unites all of us and you appreciate music no matter the format. I agree with you too that not all cops are bad but there are some. Those must be exposed.
This song was done as a sort of tribute and also as a wake up call following the events of Rodney Kings murder and the LA riots that ensued. Funny how it’s relevant still almost 30 years later.
Minute 2:05 and on.. blam! You got it exactly. It’s amazing that this came out in ‘92 and only now 28 years later is this reality really resonating with the current atmosphere. Zach, Tom and the crew, way prescient on all this.
Every rage song is still relevant to this day. I got itlnto these guys in 5th grade and didn't understand but as I got older it all started to make since and bc of that I continues to be a fan.
Saw Rage in 98 on the Battle of Los Angeles tour in Nashville Tn. The cops were 3 cars deep around the whole place. It was insane! It was also hands down the best, most influential show of my life. Tom Morello can really make that guitar do what you hear it do. He is a wizard!!!!!! MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN!
Try to imagine Rage playing on the Mall in DC right now,500,000 people all sing-shouting "Some of those who work forces are the same who burn crosses" at once, over and over. Trump would be hiding UNDER the bunker.
Damn. Here we are again. I can't wait for RATM to stop being relevant. "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." Mr. Orwell
This. I want so badly for RATM to be a band who would need to update their lyrics for the reunion tour if they wanted to be relevant. I have no clue if the musical style would hold any interest for you, but if you like that quote you may want to check out Hozier's song Jackboot Jump.
Glad that Rage has made a new fan, and yet another mind radicalized by them...You should also dig into some Jane's Addiction...any song from their first two albums..Nothing Shocking, and Ritual De Lo Habitual...keep up the good work!
You might dig “Living on the 110” by Prophets of Rage. It’s got Tom Morello on guitar (he did guitar for RATM) and Chuck D from Public Enemy and B-Real from Cypress Hill on vocals. Good stuff
Speaking as someone who has dived and caught - if people 'bomb' it is like the parting of the red sea. You are meant to put yourself at the mercy of the crowd either flat dive forward or flip and dive on your back. We will catch you, but no knees, elbows or shit. Great reaction. Peace. x
I give the long-haired dive guy a fricking 11 out of 10 for that dive. He just launched and got awesome lift on it, that beautiful hair flying behind him. Take it from a white girl who's been in a bunch of mosh pits--it takes a LOT more trust to go that high up and somehow believe that people will catch you when you land than it does to fly straight out. You fly straight out, it's easy to catch you. When you get a bunch of lift like that, it takes a bit for the crowd to figure out where he's going to land and then to keep the descent from sending them down to the ground with him. That dive is glorious--a thing of beauty.
RATM was doing lyrics about racist cops in the early nineties. The greatest thing about RATM is that their lyrics are always relevant. The saddest thing about RATM is that THEIR LYRICS ARE ALWAYS RELEVANT.
Dude kkk were asked to join the police force in major cities like LA. PBS did a whole documentary on this. They were invited in from other states. Awesome reaction btw 😍
This is a great video man. We need more of this. Everyone is always welcome in the pit, I look forward to seeing everyone there. Check out Against All Authority if you want to get in to some ska punk anarchist music.
From a guitar player, the beauty of that guitar solo is it’s uniqueness. Doesn’t even really sound like a guitar. Tom’s approach is pretty unorthodox. Listen to the solo for “Bulls on Parade”. The whole thing sounds like a DJ scratching. This ones a 10.
Big chewy riffs and ugly truths. Delivered with conviction. Zack and Tom are educated and motivated musicians expressing themselves in best possible way. Absolute fire 🔥
Hey, mate you would LOVE a rock concert. It's a community in that mosh pit, people taking care of people, communing, sharing space and joyful catharsis. When. This Covid shit is dead come to London town and I'll hook you up with a good gig.
That solo is a solid, solid 8. It's nit terribly complicated, but the his use of the whammy makes it awesome. Tom's a very unique player. He can make his guitars make sounds a guitar is NOT supposed to make.
Freakin love this band and particularly this song! Best part of the 90's! Music funky as hell and packed full of messages that unfortunately are true 25 years later. Although I was raised in Zeppelin era, 90s music has been my fav. God I miss having bands and music like this in 2020s.
Bro I'm Welsh/Chinese living in the UK this song sums it up!! It's not all about being a certain ethnic minority! My sisters are looked at like yeah they are ok!
I feel like with a lot of these Rage reaction videos, the lyrics go over most people's heads. I like that this guy gets it!!
Most people have no idea Zack is talking about how white supremacy has infiltrated the police forces across America and are justified by their killing of innocent minorities. He's pretty obvious in what he's saying.
It's hard not to get caught up with the music and hear the message at same time
Zack wrote this after watching Rodney king get his a** beat by the LA cops in 92
Rodney...
YepA. Sad that it’s still the same shit different man.
Morello wrote it during a guitar lesson. Lol
Still so relevant.
You can always tell the people who are hearing this for the first time because you can see them blink when they hear "some of those who work forces are the same burn crosses"
💯
Yeah, those Lines are just so powerful. Thats why this song has like six lines - it doesnt need more.
Don't justify those who died for wearing a badge and your chosen whites. Pretty relevant today. They wrote this during the Rodney King riots.
The best RATM reactions are when people pause and say "wait, what did he say"?
And then you wait for you know what’s coming
I love this song because it’s so simple lyrically, but it’s still so powerful. And the music is funky af 🖤
Its crazy cuz he never says what they're actually "killing in the name of", nobody mentions it, its like its a double meaning cuz nobody wants to come out and say they're "killing in the name of racism", but at the same time its his statement that they're killing in the name of absolutely nothing, its just hatred.
Agreed. They're still just as powerful today as they were as they were as an 18 yr old kid jamming to this back in high school.
KITNO and Bulls On Parade are that FIRE March music
Carrie Huffman they were made to be a chant, a rally cry. Simple makes that work.
I've seen a couple of videos around of different Black men discovering Rage Against the Machine. It's so heartwarming. I mean, I have no idea how sort of culturally isolated RATM is, if they're really that unknown in the Black community...? I'm a seriously white guy. But I love to see them shared.
It always feels good to see someone discover music that speaks to them. Rage speaks to this moment even more than ever.

A live version of the second verse goes - some of those that burn crosses/are the same that hold office
Live album from Los Angeles 2003? That line gives me goosebumps every time.
From what I understand the original lyric was “ Some of those who hold office, are the same that burn crosses...” but their record label made them change it.
@@zombistudios1362 Both versions are true tho
Yes!!!
I’ve also seen them sing “some of those up in congress are the same that burn crosses” live
I love watching people react to R.A.G.E - Some of us old metal heads have been fighting the machine for years !! RAGE !
Most of them that hold office, are the same that burn crosses. That’s the lyric they use in concert.
Tom Morello has got to be one of if not the most talented guitarist of all time. I vote 11 out of 10 for that solo. The lyrics and meaning of their songs are even higher than that. Hed P.E. is pretty underrated along the same lines as RATM and SOTD
More than 20 years later and nothing has changed smh.. if anything they have gotten worse.
Don’t think it’s gotten worse it’s just getting filmed more regularly.
the sad thing crime is been going down the last 3 years but shit you wouldn't think so

Politicians have gotten worse. The more anger and division they can create, they more power we give them.
The last time I seen Rage Against the Machine, WU-TANG CLAN was the opening act for the whole tour. Their roots are deep.
I saw that show in Charlotte.

Sadly, it wasn't a warning back then, it was REALITY. Some people just weren't aware of it.
I'm sorry, but the "few bad apples" excuse was disproved in the Stanford prison experiment.
All it takes to turn am entire department bad is inadequate oversight combined with a desire to be accepted by the group, and just like that otherwise good people are behaving like monsters.

I blame the group who cries "anti-semtism!" Fuck them.
& It's results were always too simplistic. The so called results also remove the element of moral accountability. Regardless of how cynical some understandably are, so people do have a moral core.
It also isn't the whole quotation. The full phrase is 'A few bad apples SPOILS THE BUNCH' which has an entirely different meaning.

The best part of rage against the machine is that it’s always relevant.
The worst part of rage against the machine is that it’s always relevant
An alternative verse they sing live is "some of those that hold office are the same than burn crosses"
RATM was doing lyrics about racist cops in the early nineties.
The greatest thing about RATM is that their lyrics are always relevant.
The saddest thing about RATM is that THEIR LYRICS ARE ALWAYS RELEVANT.
10!
At the time no one was playing the guitar like mixing on turntables.. insane!
That solo was fire. It was dirty af and hands down 10/10
Lmao...love how you rated the stage dives 😂
I appreciate the stage diving ratings!!
Today is a good day for this song.
A Rage concert today is like a riot in a box.
Tom Morello has such a unique sound. I think he and The Edge (U2) have the most unique sounds in the last few years...
Dude kkk were asked to join the police force in major cities like LA. PBS did a whole documentary on this. They were invited in from other states. Awesome reaction btw 😍
Love the uniqueness of the solo...sounds like he's cutting up a record. I'd give it a 10 out of 10.
Insane instrumentals. ..amazing. .got me well hyped. .thanku lovely love an god bless x
I love people's faces when also discover that stanky funk Rage lays down in their music. It's great.
Stage diving is a must at a show back in the day.
If I got pressed to give this reaction a grade, a 10 out of 10 surely :)
Stage diving was absolutely a big thing in the 90s
Bro I'm Welsh/Chinese living in the UK this song sums it up!! It's not all about being a certain ethnic minority! My sisters are looked at like yeah they are ok!
Simply put: Y'all HAVE TO listen to the LYRICS! "Wearing the badge, they're youre chosen white."
You are 100% correct this song was in response to the attack on Rodney King and the following civil unrest.
