I have an 80's Schwinn world tourist that I got as a hand me down. I was thinking of doing something similar, single speed and gravel tires. Awesome build.
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this channel. I had just parted out my wifes 27" Bottecchia and didn't know what to do with the frame, this fills my head with ideas.
I love the vids you’ve made on this bike. I love how it’s evolved and improved. Thanks for sharing the trip. I’m also a fellow Texan born and raised though now live in WI. I’m a serial tinkerer myself and have converted many a bike to do something they weren’t originally intended to do. Currently obsessing over a Bridgestone I picked up. It’s an XO-3 and is a legit gravel/all-road platform. Keep tinkering, and I’ll keep watching.
Thank you! I certainly appreciate it. I love the evolution I've been through with this bike. I doubt I'll ever get rid of it. the XO-3 is a great find!! Enjoy it and thanks for watching!
I’m so glad this vid popped up on my recommended list, love the build! I’m 60 & rode SS mtn bikes for many yrs & really miss it. After seeing this I’m going to start looking for an old school steel bike & build one up, thanks for the inspiration, nice job, new sub here from Philadelphia
Don’t know if you still read these but I’m looking to do something similar but with an old aluminum road bike just wondering if you would recommend any brakes that will fit a wider tire I think I can currently run a 28c trying to see if I can go up too at least a 30c they currently have 105 brakes on them now.
As a single speed it can use 700x35 since the rear wheel isn’t all the way back in the dropouts. With the rear all the way back in the dropouts it fits 700x38 in front and rear.

Hi, which cool stop pads would you recommend for using with the R55 nines? I ride 650 B wheels and like wide 50mm tyres for gravel
Lol my man never finished always changing and evolving.
This guy gets it!
Nice upgrades!!
I have a set of the MicroSHIFT Advent levers on one of my bikes (which look identical to those). I like the feel of them quite a bit.
I have the Advent shifters on my Poseidon and the micronew shifters are very obviously a knock off 😂
What size gravel kings are they?
700x35.
Could you put 40c on this frame?

I don’t know if you’ll be able to get much more clearance out of an aluminum frame unfortunately.
@@tinkerbike2510 yeah rode the bike to the bike shop and was wild a 28c was the biggest I could go. Thanks for the response
What size rim width/tires are you running? I have the same bridgestone and am planning to give it new life. Awesome to see one built up! Looks rad 🤘🏻

What the gear ratio on your bike?
42/18
What wheel size and rims are you running? About to pick up the same frame tomorrow and would like to build it into a gravel commuter.
