The quality of this man's voice will never be duplicated. Period.
No one has ever had such velvety smooth texture, with the southern soulful growel and gritty getdown all in the same package. Al Green ran the whole gamut as it pertain to soul music.
That's why he's in a class all by himself. Salute to the best who's ever done it.
Now that’s what you call a perfect performance! Amazing 🤩 all the way through. Al Green was phenomenal!
Yes he was👍👍👍👍
I agree.
Silky smooth velvety voice.
That's Al Green.
The Best who's ever done it.
Man, who sings like that today? Absolutely no one!!!...Rev. Al was so smooth, cool and classy. Epic song.
I don't understand how some people in the audience weren't grooving, they must've been dead
The great Al Greene This is fabulous.
Yes smooth beautiful soulful ❤voice
Green
@@donniev8181 Are you the spell check master or what? If you go around correcting people's spelling here on UA-cam and other platforms, you are only making yourself look like the fool.that you are🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s so good I’m tearing up❤
When this song hit the charts the birth rate jumped 9 months later.
NOBODY at this Level today NOBODY!
so true.
The man is just too cool !
Jewelry game killin
Damn he's killin it.
The lil fast pace is dope. Enterprise Orchestra were slaying
Very few artists have that self confident swag when on stage ! Jackie Wilson had it, James Brown , Prince , Al Green and must include Elvis Presley !
The songs in their generation are meaningful.
Yes. But these old school songs had "substance"
I love the horns in his band. They add so much to the song. Thanks for posting!
Al live performances were better than the album cuts
I love Al! I always loved his left arm and shoulder click. So much soul. Jewelry, teeth and all. Beautiful man. His performance was always before his time.❤❤
Jewelry game was next level
Although Mr. Al Green chose an assertive outfit, he carried it very well.
His "solo live" performance on UA-cam is even more amazing. One of the best live performances ever. I left my comment there. He was a very smart, religious, and honorable man. So much so, as he saw the destruction and perversion of the entertainment industry, he bailed out very early in his career. Many, he left behind are dead. I do wish we could have experienced the full potential of his talent and incredible voice...but for again, the vile music industry.
The crowd finally got with him. But that dude knew how to hold the audience and the song in the palm of his hands in all of his performances!
Ahhhh.....The good old days. I was a small child when this show aired. We had some awesome music back in the day.
The GREAT Rev Al Green
Sing it Rev.
Always has a live band. Never lip syncs
After he made it big, Al green used to appear on tv and lip sync , had to have a live band to set himself apart from the less talented !
The horn section and Al Greens vocals make a perfect COMBO. What a National Treasure. My mother god bless her soul. Loved his music when I was a Teenager, she always played his greatest hits Album. She loved the way he sang the Bee Gees How Can You Mend a Broken Heart. I cry when I hear it to this day.
Always loved Al Green's vocals and music! Absolutely no one can hold a candle to him! Thanx for sharing MS!
He cracks me up with the laugh at when he sings. Lol, classic. 😂
Can't believe I hadn't subbed to this channel yet. The Midnight Special was great! A Friday night staple for me and many otherts. And since I didn't get to go to concerts back then it's the only chance I got to see all these great artists perform live. Great performance of a soul classic by Al Green.
Soulfull as hell!
Wonderful
Enterprise Orchestra was groovin
I don't get tired listening to him and this song.
Mr.Al Green had a TIGHT BAND with a horn 🎺🎷🎺🎷that could sing 🎤 along with Mr Aaron Purdie on drums 🥁, and Mr. Tennie Hodges on guitar 🎸. Check out Mr. Al Green’s performance from the show SOUL 1972 or 73 hosted by Mr.Ellis Hazlip from PBS channel 13 New York City.
2:53 is so smooth

Hasn't this (and the Al Green uploaded yesterday) already been uploaded here?
Al Green appeared on the show numerous times and on occasion he did perform the same song. There is another “Let’s Stay Together” from a different episode a year or two later. Check out the wardrobe he is wearing and you will see the difference but thanks for noticing.
