I love seeing someone as proud to be in Gryffindor as I am. My pride possession is my scarf. I've wanted one for years but never could get a hold of one and my brother bought me the scarf for my birthday. Harry Potter just means so much to me. When I had no friends in school it was my friend. It was my escape. Now as an adult it's still my escape. I recently got dumped by my significant other who i love very much and I spent a whole week watching Harry Potter because it makes everything so much better. I was able to leave behind my sad reality and travel to this magical world. So it's so nice to have UA-cam idols who geek over Harry Potter as much as I do and its especially nice to have a fellow Gryffindor to look up to. And I appreciate you, Tessa, and Brizzy so much. You're my idea of a golden trio.

I really don't like cursed child and its canon (and JK herself tbh) and it always fills me with annoyance and even anger every time it's mentioned, but you look so happy and it obviously means a lot to you, so it kind of eases it for me you know? It always makes me sad and bitter to have such a complicated and tainted (for many reasons) relationship with a universe that I love and that has been a part of my life since my childhood, so it's always good to have someone to remind me of the good parts. It will not make me like all this any better, and I may not like the same parts you do, but in the end it doesn't matter. What matters is the feeling of sharing something that means something to us with so many different people. So thank you for that. First of all for example: as a queer person myself, we're a lot to feel like her saying that Dumbledore was gay is a way to claim representation after the fact, to get that one (1) Woke Point you know. Especially since it's not at all mentioned in Fantastic Beasts, (or just with the mirror scene i guess, but they won't even have a scene together) and the fact that she said that werewolves were supposed to be an allegory for AIDS. Which is.. unfortunate for many reasons, one of them being linking an illness which was devastatingly present in the lgbtq+ community's history with a condition that turns people into bloodthirsty monsters who can't control themselves. Even if it is said that it's not their fault and they don't necessarily have to be all bad... it's still not great. (But there are many ppl explaining that better than me and in more details so if you're interested I encourage you to search for yourself) She also liked multiple transphobic tweets and blamed a "middle-aged moment" for the way she held her phone.......... so i guess she has a similarly excellent excuse for the scene in one of her earlier books where a trans woman attacks the main character and is only described with her masculine traits and is described as unstable and violent. And I guess everyone can make a villain, but when the only time an oppressed minority is featured in your work and it's like this.. we're allowed to wonder. Another reason is her constant defence of Snape. I am myself a villains lover, I've always been one, most of my fav characters are evil bitches, I have sooo much Joker merch, I'm a huge Hannibal Lecter fan, etc. That being said, there's nothing I hate more than people who can't accept that they like villains, and instead try to excuse their behaviour and deny their wrongdoings, and cast the blame on someone else (often the victim of said evil bitch). Now, if you are aware that Snape is an absolute asshole, who threw slurs at his only friend and then was so vexed she didn't want to sleep with him that he joined the nazi cult that persecuted her, only asked for HER to be saved (not her husband or her BABY, naah), tore up HER FAMILY PICTURE TO KEEP THE PART WITH HER ON IT (wth dude. i mean it might only be in the movie, sure, but JK allowed it so, again, wth dude) and then spent the rest of his life harassing children, AND tried to defend himself by saying he """loved""" a girl when he was 15... well. I guess to each their own. You like a fictional villain, you're AWARE he's an abusive asshole, that's none of my business, let's all go on with our lives. But if you're like, nah, everything he did is COMPLETELY ERASED bc he Loved That Girl! I mean he never did anything to prove it before he got her killed but hey. Who cares! At least he's better that the jock who bullied him in high school! Even though this jock was a kid at the time, and died at only 21 (aka still young) but was still braver, as he literally put himself in the way of the fucking Dark Lord to save his family. (To be clear, I am not excusing James' behaviour in his youth, I know what it's like to be bullied. But I still think that on the scale of villainy, it's SLIGHTLY lower than racism and being a literal nazi. Especially if your reasons to join them are "friendzone"+school bullying. Not to mention the fact that Snape's friends were using dark magic to bully other kids (muggleborn kids, if i remember well) and he didn't find anything wrong with it. And he was not a pure blood, so he didn't even have the excuse of upbringing and being too young to know otherwise.) So if a fan is like this, well yikes but I don't know them and they don't owe anyone anything I guess, the block button is here for that. But when the author herself is affirming all this shit?? And saying he's the main Slytherin hero?? I'm a Slytherin and I'm highly offended by that. If she wanted a redemption arc, Draco or even better, REGULUS were right fucking there. "2 of the bravest men I've ever known or whatever"????? bitch??? first of all: remus HAGRID neville, hell even FLORIAN FORTESCUE would have been better suited. Florian was always kind to you and deserved Better Than That, Harry. Let's not even talk about Hagrid, he did SO MUCH, putting him below SNAPE of all people is just disrespectful. (I'm not happy with "Albus" either but this one is a personal pov) And if you want to stay in the Slytherin theme, as I SAID REGULUS ARCTURUS BLACK WAS RIGHT THERE AND HE DESERVED WAYY MORE THAN WHAT HE GOT. (It's like she keeps forgetting he exists. He was relevant as a plot point and then BAM he's gone, and she never even mentions if his bravery is ever recognized???) He's our house's true hero. So like, all of that was in very poor taste. Plus, defending a character who thinks it's love to verbally abuse and obsess over a girl, and romanticizing that while claiming yourself to be a feminist.. I mean she also keeps defending Depp so we shouldn't be surprised. The whole thing with Depp and refusing to recast him (even though he was there for like 5 minutes, and they're WIZARDS...) was kind of the last straw for me. Also the whole "only 2 asian characters in the franchise, one is named Cho fucking Chang and the other one is a snake woman doing the bidding of a nazi fanatic" business...I'm white so I won't go on about this, others will do it better, but still. :/ Also she really needs to stop adding to this canon, especially on Twitter. Seriously the fact that Hufflepuff held group masturbation sessions was not something I EVER needed nor wanted to know. wtf jk, get a grip. So these are roughly the main reasons why I can't cope with her. I generally try to ignore whatever comes out of her mouth (or her twitter feed) and just enjoy the community and what we all created together. Which is why gobstone alley is my favourite box, because it is made by and for the fans, and as such is focused on what really matters: the will to belong, and more than that, to share something you love with other people to make them happy. It has a more personal touch. And it's also why I love watching Cherry's videos, because she's so obviously passionate about this universe that (at least when I'm watching) all of this matters less, and I can focus on being excited about something that has been a part of me for so long. That's what people who call us haters don't understand: it's NOT easy or fun to have to throw away your childhood heroes when you discover they're trash (which for me goes for both JK and Depp, as I was raised on Burton and his' movies. They shaped the biggest part of my personality. It was not easy, but I had to do it if I wanted to still be able to face myself after.) . But it's part of growing up I guess. Anyway, this is my personal opinion, and I stand by it. I am not looking to fight about it, everyone is entitled to their own, but I will not debate about mine. I've done it before and it's becoming tiring. I hope I've been of some use to you, and I'm sorry, this is really long lol. And english is not my native language so I'm sorry if some parts are not well phrased. (or if i sound stern, it's just the way i sound when i put periods??? i don't know why, but I've been told this many times, so sorry :/) In the end, we're all here for one reason, and it's to watch Cherry be a huge nerd and also be huge nerds ourselves, and I think it's a great thing.

Now, if you are aware that Snape is an absolute asshole, who threw slurs at his only friend and then was so vexed she didn't want to sleep with him that he joined the nazi cult that persecuted her, only asked for HER to be saved (not her husband or her BABY, naah), tore up HER FAMILY PICTURE TO KEEP THE PART WITH HER ON IT (wth dude. i mean it might only be in the movie, sure, but JK allowed it so, again, wth dude) and then spent the rest of his life harassing children, AND tried to defend himself by saying he """loved""" a girl when he was 15... well. I guess to each their own. You like a fictional villain, you're AWARE he's an abusive asshole, that's none of my business, let's all go on with our lives.
But if you're like, nah, everything he did is COMPLETELY ERASED bc he Loved That Girl! I mean he never did anything to prove it before he got her killed but hey. Who cares! At least he's better that the jock who bullied him in high school! Even though this jock was a kid at the time, and died at only 21 (aka still young) but was still braver, as he literally put himself in the way of the fucking Dark Lord to save his family.
(To be clear, I am not excusing James' behaviour in his youth, I know what it's like to be bullied. But I still think that on the scale of villainy, it's SLIGHTLY lower than racism and being a literal nazi. Especially if your reasons to join them are "friendzone"+school bullying. Not to mention the fact that Snape's friends were using dark magic to bully other kids (muggleborn kids, if i remember well) and he didn't find anything wrong with it. And he was not a pure blood, so he didn't even have the excuse of upbringing and being too young to know otherwise.)
So if a fan is like this, well yikes but I don't know them and they don't owe anyone anything I guess, the block button is here for that. But when the author herself is affirming all this shit?? And saying he's the main Slytherin hero?? I'm a Slytherin and I'm highly offended by that. If she wanted a redemption arc, Draco or even better, REGULUS were right fucking there. "2 of the bravest men I've ever known or whatever"????? bitch??? first of all: remus HAGRID neville, hell even FLORIAN FORTESCUE would have been better suited. Florian was always kind to you and deserved Better Than That, Harry. Let's not even talk about Hagrid, he did SO MUCH, putting him below SNAPE of all people is just disrespectful. (I'm not happy with "Albus" either but this one is a personal pov) And if you want to stay in the Slytherin theme, as I SAID REGULUS ARCTURUS BLACK WAS RIGHT THERE AND HE DESERVED WAYY MORE THAN WHAT HE GOT. (It's like she keeps forgetting he exists. He was relevant as a plot point and then BAM he's gone, and she never even mentions if his bravery is ever recognized???) He's our house's true hero.
So like, all of that was in very poor taste. Plus, defending a character who thinks it's love to verbally abuse and obsess over a girl, and romanticizing that while claiming yourself to be a feminist.. I mean she also keeps defending Depp so we shouldn't be surprised. The whole thing with Depp and refusing to recast him (even though he was there for like 5 minutes, and they're WIZARDS...) was kind of the last straw for me.
Also the whole "only 2 asian characters in the franchise, one is named Cho fucking Chang and the other one is a snake woman doing the bidding of a nazi fanatic" business...I'm white so I won't go on about this, others will do it better, but still. :/
Also she really needs to stop adding to this canon, especially on Twitter. Seriously the fact that Hufflepuff held group masturbation sessions was not something I EVER needed nor wanted to know. wtf jk, get a grip.
So these are roughly the main reasons why I can't cope with her. I generally try to ignore whatever comes out of her mouth (or her twitter feed) and just enjoy the community and what we all created together.
Which is why gobstone alley is my favourite box, because it is made by and for the fans, and as such is focused on what really matters: the will to belong, and more than that, to share something you love with other people to make them happy. It has a more personal touch.
And it's also why I love watching Cherry's videos, because she's so obviously passionate about this universe that (at least when I'm watching) all of this matters less, and I can focus on being excited about something that has been a part of me for so long. That's what people who call us haters don't understand: it's NOT easy or fun to have to throw away your childhood heroes when you discover they're trash (which for me goes for both JK and Depp, as I was raised on Burton and his' movies. They shaped the biggest part of my personality. It was not easy, but I had to do it if I wanted to still be able to face myself after.) . But it's part of growing up I guess.
Anyway, this is my personal opinion, and I stand by it. I am not looking to fight about it, everyone is entitled to their own, but I will not debate about mine. I've done it before and it's becoming tiring. I hope I've been of some use to you, and I'm sorry, this is really long lol. And english is not my native language so I'm sorry if some parts are not well phrased. (or if i sound stern, it's just the way i sound when i put periods??? i don't know why, but I've been told this many times, so sorry :/)
In the end, we're all here for one reason, and it's to watch Cherry be a huge nerd and also be huge nerds ourselves, and I think it's a great thing.
