  • Every single engine installation in an experimental aircraft is a unique effort. The firewall forward has hundreds of parts and pieces, cables, hoses, wires, sensors, and electronic parts that need to be mounted in a professional manner. A homebuilt aircraft kit usually has no guidance in their builder's manual for this as every builder usually selects an engine of their liking. This video Tip demonstrates how a professional shop advises how to mount firewall forward components so that an engine installation is reliable and neat in appearance. Extensive use of Adel clamps is the key!

Another adel clamp mounting tool is to cut a hacksaw blade and cut a V groove in the end of it. This groove temporarily locks the threads of the bolt till you get the nut on. Much more compact than the vise-grip method.

I like the zip tie through the tube, thanks I've not seen that one before. I have used the three zip tie method where one goes around a tube the other around the wire bundle and tied together with another zip tie

You have carved out a niche in You tube aviation videos and it could well be the single most important one for builders... for me certainly the most useful

How do you feel about cable glands? I know you guys have to use special hardware but cable glands are beautiful and super clean

Darned good information, and it looks like these would be great for automotive work also. I genuinely like videos posted by grey-hair guys, since they tend to speak clearly and precisely - not the rapid-pace auctioneer style of some of the younger fellas. 😏
