It's an "ondes Martenot", an instrument from around 1930. The pitch can be controlled by a ring attached to a wire (as performed in the video) or by using the keyboard. Radiohead recordings feature them as well.

But what I was taking from that is if the beat coming from the drummer kicks ass, the riffs coming from the guitars are going to be sick shit. and with Mr. Baird on the keyboard, it brings back some of the sounds we are accustomed to hearing from heads guitar parts.
