Make sure to check out Guitar Super System (guitarsupersystem.com) for a full breakdown of the magical chords known as triads. Also, comment and let me know which guitarist I should break down the habits of next!
Music is Win heyyy thank you for uploading this vid :)
Music is Win Randy Rhoads!!
Joe Satriani.
Brent hinds
Jimmy Page!
Stadium Arcadium is the whole reason i started playing guitar
Same here
Me too dude. It was the first album I heard that the instruments in the music (primarily guitar) were just as integral (if not more so) to conveying the emotion/meaning of the songs as the lyrics/vocals. It was the first album that my preferred way of listening to it was laying in bed, in the dark, with my eyes closed, with headphones on and the volume all the way up.
So dense, so many layers on the album, mmm, For example, before starting to play guitar I remember listening to the end of Turn It Again over and over when I first heard it; it sounded SO cool. And now after playing guitar for ~15 years I still feel the same way about it.
Blood sugar sex magic was mine, but I got into them months before Californication came out so that's really the one that shaped my playing early on
Same dude
WET SAND!
I have a strange feeling that John Frusciante will once again return to the Red Hot Chili Peppers for one more amazing album with his incredible playing, by the time it’s all said and done.
wow, 2 years ago 😳 what other "strange feeling" did you have?
Coming to tell you he did both, elegantly 😂
Spot on
This aged very well
great feeling man
FROO-SHAN-TAY
haha, when I heard him I'm like WTF have I been saying it wrong this whole time??

Habits of Lil Wayne : Wearing saggy pants and smocking weed ...
Wadsmitter Hey ! You're still here ! You're the man who taught me that Mooer pedals have red lights when it's analog and blue when it's digital ! I will always remember this even when I'll be old and ... fuck, I'm already old ! Dammit ! :-)
I believe people are into Frusciante because of the way his music talks to them. From the Mother's Milk to The empyrean his music breaths genius! In my opinion,he is more than a ''guitar hero'', he's a visionary master musician, constantly searching to redefine himself through music! What i've learned from John, is that music is the most beautifull thing in the world, and we should treat it that way! Peace ^_^
Bacon Monster his guitar work on his electronic albums after the Empyrean are just as genius as anything else he's released.
Melvin White I'm sure of it,i really enjoy his work with the Black Knights though, really good stuff ^_^
i like johns solo work, but his best work is with the chilis / i like joshs work with the chilis, but his best work is with dot hacker
Bacon Monster well said
I agree that he's more than guitar hero. Even Kiedis said Fruciante can match any tune to any song he made.
Sean Frushianny has always been my favorite guitar player!
Four years, this mate me both legitimate LOL, as well as snort-LOL. Top work.
@@samaj2001 made* also thats too much info my man
@@cravingpolice1409 I'm not sure in what way it's too much info to say something made me snort-laugh. Lighten up. You also forgot a full-stop at the end of your comment. Mine was a mobile phone auto-correct, you're just being lazy. Thanks for replying though, totally worthwhile.
@@samaj2001 i dont like ur sarcasam, it kinda ruined it, but i was just being friendly and u come out with a whole-ass paragraph but its good and i apologise for judging ur mistakes too early, my bad.
@@cravingpolice1409 Talk about a nutcase.
Red Hot Chili Peppers live shows are the reasons people always ask. I love RHCP live so much. I almost listen to bootleg live and slane castle more than I do their album songs. lol
Thank gosh this wasn't drug habits of Frusciante...
Brian Volinic think he's been clean a while for the most part
Juan Valdez oh I know. Pretty familiar with his story. Huge fan of all his stuff. It's amazing he pulled out of that pit. Hope he's still doing well. ✌️
This comment is A1
N1 haha
Brian Volinic haha not too many could live through those habits
He practices 10-16 hours a day.even has 12 solo albums in which drums synthesizer and several other instrumenet are covered by him.he has devoted his life to music from young age
You should know that Hendrix was Frusciante's biggest influence.
You got that backwards bud
@@cakesodomy4358 no he didnt?
@@karstenpuder3605 yes he did, legend has it john taught jimi how to play
False, Lil Wayne is Johns Biggest inspiration
It's Justin Bieber actually 😂🤣😂🤣
any John frusciante video where they just refer to under the bridge for half the video is dissapointing
and theres so much to talk about yet its the same one song
Louis Martin
But he didn't tho, it was just 3 minutes or something around that
I know right...
It's probably his most iconic. Though he has so much diversity!
Yup even more when they say under the bridge is made of triads. There’s not a single triad in that song, he played full chords in it .
To really get John I feel you need to really get into Niandra Lades and Usually Just a Tshirt. Of all his work his first solo album is by far the most raw and profound, but really gives guitar players a glimpse into how he plays. You probably know this already, but I've seen people who are personal friends of his not even know this record exists. Also the cassette has a couple different tracks from the cd. Just my 2 cents.
Aleister Davidson my smile is a rifle is eerily beautiful
Smile from the streets you hold its also a profound album, he made the album just to earn some money to buy more drug. Dark.
The world’s just a so sphere no bigger than the balls you suck
I also would recommend "to record only water for 10 days" as it shows how great his riff writing, and songwriting as a whole is.
That is one of my favourite albums ever. Beautiful
An awesome example of John Frusciante guitar playstyle is zephyr song...everything in this song are so frusciantish...the triads that epic melodic solo the progressions...such a great song man...
My all time favorite RHCP song
Habits of Mark Knopfler please ;]]]]
Boko Piiti 10000% yes
Boko Piiti YES!!

Habits of Kirk Hammet.
Don't practice, use your time to buy more wah pedals.

Accurate..
i taught myself how to play guitar and have had to rely on youtube and other websouces to learn more. Ive been playing for around 7 years now i can say : Your videos are some of the best for learning guitar. Its not only that your just demonstrating 'habits', you are showing a complete way of playing and looking at the instrument in a laidback way. thank you so much
John Frusciante played with the same Lazy effortless style that Jimi Hendrix did. Absolutely amazing. John is also the king of melody. Check out the solo in the song "Couldve lied". Very very simple, very powerful melody.
i could’ve lied?
@@I-am-duck With a capital I
John frusciante is probably one of the best creative and original guitarists ever. Maybe not technically, but he had a georgeus tone!!
He has amazing technical skills, but he just doesn’t use them often because he plays what the song needs not to impress people with his technical skills. He started playing when he was 7 and could play every Hendrix song by 12. Dude is a virtuoso. Listen to some of the songs from mother’s milk I think his technical skills really shined with the heavier era of the chili peppers tho he was limited because the producer wanted him to sound like Hillel.
@@fedoraman8967 acho que ele era melhor que hillel na epoca que entrou na banda no lugar do erik marshall
Listen to the Amputecture album by The Mars Volta. Frusciante played almost all the guitars (Omar did a few solos; sometimes they’d both solo at once). He plays way more minimalistic in RHCP but he is actually has insane chops. He just doesn’t like showboating.
@@Im_alex_h thanks dude I will give it a listen
and also a great voice!
Who is here because of sciantes comeback
You're great Tyler, but the only person qualified to really teach John is Dave Simpson.
DaBeachmasta10 agreed
DaBeachmasta10 shoutout to Dave Simpson!
yess true
DaBeachmasta10 Saw your comment and looked him up. Holy shit, were you right. That Dave guy has absolutely nailed it. Thanks for that.
Colin Heeregrave Anytime brother
Under the Bridge is one my favorite all-time songs and because of that he will be among my favorite guitarists so I'm glad you covered him.
People apreciates frusciantes guitar play cuz he is able to do awesome licks and heart-touching progresions with simple things like triads.
dont even talk about john frusciante if you dont play bar chords like him
George Toogood first thing I thought of too
George Toogood Some people dont have the fingers to be able to use their thumb like Jimi and John. To you they would say fack off, make music however you want.
George Toogood I was like dude, where's the thumb?!?
don't even think about music if you've never fucked a guitar
Brandon Begley my hands are small and I still do bar chords Hendrix style
Habits of Queen's Brian May! There's a wide range of features of his to choose from. Some examples, his melodic soloing using scales/arpeggios/and other (by either expanding on the vocal melody or not) (i.e. Killer Queen, Lazing On a Sunday Afternoon, Hammer to fall, Friends Will Be Friends), his signature delay technique (i.e. Brighton Rock), his guitar-layering (i.e. Good Company, Scandal, Dreamer's Ball, Made in Heaven, Bo Rhap)
He’s back!!
There's this one moment in the Dani California solo where he does that fucking thing and it makes my jaw drop still.
Check out the intro of ‘if you have to ask’ to see an example of the funk-rythm strumming he’s talking about
Can you please make a habits of Dimebag Darrell? Im sure im not the only one who would love it!
"John Fruscianeeee"
if you love triads you are going to love frusciante ! Almost every Stadium Arcadium song had triads in it. But in think you overlooked frusciante vision of funk music and the way he creates funk melodies like in "if you have to ask"
Here I go binging Frusciante again.
I have been waiting for this forever. He's the goddamn GOAT for feel players. So melodic and musical. That's why people revere him.
wow thank you for doing this.frusciante is such an inspiration
"my favorite kind of chord, triads! John Frusciante also loves triads!"
... pretty much all western music since the 17th century is based on triads.... that's like saying, I like melodies!
I too like melodies!
...except for jazz
.... Its because guitar chords are usually not triads in most songs
I love Frusciante! Even hearing these chords makes me so happy 😍😍😍😍
Surprised you never mentioned Eddie Hazel (Probably best known for his work with Funkadelics, check out Maggot Brain) . He obviously takes a lot of inspiration from him too. Especially if you listen to his album The Empyrean.
Drinking game: 2 shots everytime he says "Triad"
Habits of Johnny Marr would amazing and maybe a bit of challenge for you.
Thank you for your videos man.
And here i was thinking no one in this comments section was into Marr. Thanks friend.
:-)
Habits of "The Wizard"
lmao it would definitely be a struggle for him he could barely play the beginning to this charming man
We love him so much because of all the people we’ve lost in rock music, from drugs. Luckily for some reason he was meant to make it from that part of his life and its great to see. So yes, we appreciate him a lot! Most of those guys didn’t make it back in those days.
In under the bridge Frusciante doesn't use triads, he uses full chords.
True, but he often doesn't play the root note on the low E string, so it's inverted.
Thank you for covering Frusciante! Eddie Hazel would be a great follow up on this Mayer, Hendrix, Frusciante train.
His style is fantastic (unless you prefer shredders!) and unique... great video! 👍
ohh man!! that is one hell of a beautiful strat you've got. I watch, learn and enjoy your videos. keep up the good work. cheers!
U think there's something interest about Kurt Cobain's guitar playing? I know that his playing wasnt all that complicated but it made for some good songs in my opinion.
He is a great riff writer hard to teach
He's better than he gives himself credit for
Can you do habits of Josh Homme please?
5 year old me: mum I want if you have to ask by the chili peppers
Mum: we have if you have to ask by the chili peppers at home
If you have to ask by the chili peppers at home : 3:53
Do one on Omar Rodriguez Lopez, he's a fantastic guitarist, he even did an album with John Frusciante
Marty Friedman next
yes
Nick 665,99 please marty 🤘🤘🤘
Nick 665,99 YESSSS
he'll break his fingers😂
Nick 665,99 yes please Marty and mustaine would be cool
an exercise that I've found helpful is translating alot of pop songs and ballads into finger picked arrangements or just playing along with the vocal line in a song. This really helps with understanding melody over different progressions and how songwriters incorporate emotion into their songs. Doing this has really helped in improving my improv when you combine it with theory stuff.
Okay, now do habits of Jimi Hendrix
YES
Jimmy Page yes please!!!
Jimmy Page You don't really want him to get flagged
get drunk, go onstage and totally destroy the whole show. maybe bring some fiddle stick. voila, jimmy page
Jimmy Page its easy... Just light your guitar on fire... That's all😎
I saw John tonight 8/6/22, he was amazing.
Habits of dimebag pls !
Raphaël Bonne yes
Emmanuel Calderon please tell me you re joking
Raphaël Bonne, Yes.
Raphaël Bonne drool all over the place and get drunk before gigs and drink more on stage
Alex Asuncion, Hell yeah!!
No one ever mentions frusciante’s strumming technique, so I thought I’d talk about it here. If you watch live videos of him play certain riffs, such as the can’t stop riff, the storm in a teacup riff, and TONS of others, he actually mutes every other string except for notes he’s playing, so he still strums all the strings except all notes that aren’t fretted are dead, and it leads to a very very amazing and unique sound. Give it a try! I like to call it Frusciante strumming.
do habits of Chuck berry. a tribute
Dude! I'm so glad people are supporting you and learning more about music and its many, many awesome areas. Huzzah!
you have to do Chuck Berry
RIP
I truly enjoyed this discussion. This series is getting stronger.
Please do the habits of David Gilmour
Man I am just in love with your strat
habits of Nick Jonas pls!
André Paroni Steve terreberry already did it
Overbend the strings
is a long journey but there is no destination. this is great
Guitar Habits of Frank Zappa!
I love you for making this.
Well as a Frusciante fanatic I can safely say that you need to study his music more... some of it was ok but there's still way to go
Hey man, this video really brightened my day. I am in the 8th grade and have been listening to him for 3 years and playing guitar for 2 years. Thanks Tyler
Hey Razor. 8th grade? Damn, keep practicing you can do anything guitar wise at your age. Can’t go wrong listening to Frusciante. He always tries to make the song sound good instead of showing off.
One thing i noticed you do, something ive never had anyone tell me to do, but i do it too, is ever so lightly letting up on the strings just enough so that they dont ring and create that kinda chugging noise. Idk if people get taught that, but its kinda neat. I see a lot of people who play do it, but ive never seen someone teach it. Everyone just kinda picks it up on their own
Ok you explained it a little, but most people i know, have never had that explained.
Alright, I'm gonna be that guy, but I wanna see a playing habits of Synyster Gates
Patrick Werner he's super well-read in jazz theory, for starters
oh deffinently, people don't give sun enough credit for his knowledge on theory, they just assume he can shred and thats it
Patrick Werner when i read your comment, i was about to...like... press a million times the like button
''It's a long journey, but there is no destination''. Why was it so hard for me to realise this? Awesome video!
habits of omar rodriguez lopez.
second
I'd kill for this
P S Y C H E D E L I C S
Lol. Good luck!!!!
I was waiting for this video. Thanks so much!!!
habits of matt bellamy!!
Wadsmitter lol
He's playing classical music on guitar. Listen to some of his solos and tell me you can't imagine a string section playing
No need for a Name He's pretty average. No hatred I love Muse it's probably one of the best rock bands out there but Matt doesn't have much to offer.
ChaRudatTa MuNdE you've probably only heard their pop hits then. You gotta listen to their more obscure and creative songs to get good feel for his playing. I think he would be great for this series. His playing draws a lot from classical guitar, blues, funk, metal and composers like Chopin and Rachmaninov. He has one of the most unique styles out there.
Out of all the guitarist I study and draw influence from, he gives me the most difficulty. His theory side is really advance and I find my self having to read compositional books to really understand it
My favorite guitarist, thanks man you made my day :D
Habits of Jonny Greenwood
yes, thanks man, he's one of my favorites
Well done, very informative! Next up: habits of Gilmour
You are a great theacher man, you dont confuse to people with babble... So clear in the concepts, and not only that, you really know how to explain the concepts for apply musically to the guitar! Thank you so much master!...
Please make a "Habits of Matt Bellamy" please!
"Little Wing" is what got John hooked.............he vowed he would play it someday.
Schocking Facts yeah but a cover by a Native American band at the Florida state fair... Crazy
Habits of Guthrie Govan :P
Yes!
Every habit known to man.
That angle (looks like from the perspective of where the right hand is) when you were describing the muted funk rhythm is a great way to see what someone is doing, I havn't seen much of that in demonstrative videos. good stuff thank you
This made me so happy
Habits of Mateus Asato Please Please Please!!
Best video I could've woken up to! Thanks man! :D
habits of larry "ler" lalonde
Solid ... i love Frusciante ... thanks!
Dimebag next !!!
Hands down my favorite guitarist his riffs and melodies are just so memorable and I love playing and learning his songs!
His solos are memorable because they are in nature very simple. You just can´t remember anything if someone shreds to oblivion.
Habits of Dave Navarro
Get into the habit of getting a new earring or tattoo everyday and you're well on your way
thank god for John fruciante
Please do a "Habits of Dimebag Darrel" He's my favorite guitarist so pleasee ;(
Man, you are awesome!!! Always ser your vídeos to learn how to teach better. Thanks!!!
Tyler you've got to do Jimmy Page now!
This helped but guitar super systems really hit the triads close to home for me, big thanks Tyler!
i want the hair of john frusciante. someone can help? pls
RorysIrishTour leave it alone completely for 2 years.
i have his hair... all wavy and shit
Or shave bald.
You must have Italian genes. Lol
Jimi Hendrix, Nuno Bettencort, or John Petrucci would be awesome! Love these man!
I finally learnt how to say his last name.
snow isn't all alternate picking. the hammer on note falls on a down pick, then pick the next note down as well, then return to alternate. repeat for each triad and snow flows. it really is the only way to get his sound on that one.
Habits of David gilmour would be cool as well.
