@@Chunleebunz808 nice! Let us know how it came out. It’s definitely a go to recipe now for me. I was always so hesitant to make it till I got comfortable.
As a person born and raisedin Puerto Rico and living in Hawaii, I must say this is so delicious. I prefer this to the actual pastele, especially with some mac salad.
Born and raised in Hawaii. NEVER daw anyone use bell peppers in Pastele or Pastele stew Grand parents of Puertorican descent. So...... That changes the whole flavor profile.
I just cooked it this evening it came out onolicious! Only mistake I did was use a 12 oz can of Tomato paste. I think the author used an 8 oz? My batch looked like Pork Guisantes rather than Pork Pastele😆. Hope my ohana loves it🙏. Mahalo for sharing this recipe.
@Pineapple Top Hawaii I had to omit the Coriander bc it wasn't available anywhere. Sazon as well. But I found a recipe to make from scratch. The aroma was like Carne asada. I can only imagine if the coriander was included. My kids loved it; they are picky eaters. My cousins in Hawaii make Pastele without the cilantro. Interesting.
I think I said OMG at least 10 times while watching this video. Looks soooo good. I am seriously going tomorrow or Friday to buy the ingredients and make this soon. Thanks again for another fantastic video ❤🌺
Aloha jan’ell mahalo for watching! If I was to add the green banana I would blend it to a gritty paste and add in some Annatto oil for color, I then would add it in by teaspoon fulls after all the ingredients is in and is simmering. Adding it by the spoonful is a personal preference because I like when it’s in tender chunks. But, if you would like to add it directly to the stew and stir it in you could also do it that way. Again, after all the ingredients is in and simmering. Thanks for the question I’m always glad to give some tips and hopefully it helps everyone! Happy holidays 🤙🏼
@@janellwilling2871 It does, it’s like adding dumplings to a soup. It elevates the flavor and gives it more texture. Either way it tastes great 👍🏼 I sometimes add green banana if I have it’s just a little more work to peel them.
Hi fane! Thanks for the questions 🤗, yes you can use the adobo seasoning in place of the salt that’s totally fine, also I wouldn’t recommend using the seeds twice it becomes bitter after cooking. Mahalo for watching 🤙🏼

Great! Glad you tried our recipe 🤩 We did use a smaller can of tomato paste but I’m sure it’ll be still tasty 😋

Where are the green bananas? That is one of the main ingredients to making pasteles.
I explain in the description, you can add if you want to, thanks for watching.
If you add green bananas how would you prepare it differently? What step would you add the banana in?

Thank you for the reply! Does the banana give the stew a different taste? As if I would make it like the video with no bananas?😊

Can you use the Annato seeds again? Can you use adobo seasoning Instead of garlic salt?
