Maayong adlaw! I live in Batangas and just this morning I found a huge vine of Epipremnum Pinnatum embracing a mahogany tree. It's not the Cebu Blue variety. It's the regular green one. I took some cuttings and put them in a pot with a pole. I'm a new in this plant community. Mabuhay po kayo ma'am.

Hello! Thank you!!!
Hi Alyssa, you're welcome :) Hindi naman kailangan nasa moss pole, kasi puede sya i-hanging. Kaso if hanging ang e. pinnatum, di gaano lalaki ang leaves niya plus there will come a time (maybe after x no of years?) na liliit ng liliit ang leaves until mag stop na ang growth. If the e. pinnatum has exceeded the pole's length, magha-hang na sya. It's also the same that the leaves will eventually become smaller and smaller and with less and lesser fenestration and then finally mag stop na sya sa pag-grow. I don't know how long this no-growth will take pag naka-hang lang, pero I think baka years and years pa after. *If you want big leaves and well defined fenestrations and splitting, make the plant climb, yan kasi natural state nya - climbing. *Pag-lagpas na ng pole, you can get the new leaves with nodes para new cutting naman sya na puedeng itanim. :)
Very lovely! Can I just leave my epipremnum Pinnatum in water and not transfer it to soil? I noticed the one that your aunt didn't come pick it up yet - the leaves are very big and healthy - can I just simply leave it in water forever (of course keep changing water often with diluted fertilizer)?
Hi Ambrose, thank you! :) The big leaves on my aunt's EP that you saw on the other video are still the original leaves, the earliest new growth were smaller, but eventually new leaves will become big and bigger since my aunt had a moss pole for her plant to latch and climb on. This was my experience with my own EP, if they are climbing the potential for huge leaves is there. On your query about Epipremnum pinnatum placed permanently in water with diluted fertilizer, I think it is okay and that the plant will still thrive but the new leaves won't be as big versus if they are climbing, but do take note I don't have personal experience on this so my assessment may be wrong. *The longest I had an EP on water was close to 4 months then t'was transferred to soil.

Hi Umair, yep lots of EP especially in the provinces. This plant was largely ignored until the 'plantdemic' started around April this year. Now a lot of gardeners aka plantitas have this as a house plant. 😄
I don't think this plant bears fruit. *According to the National Park of Singapore, this plant produces flower, maybe just flower and no fruit? www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/1/3/1393 The EP is really cool, one of my newer propagations only gives pothos-like leaves, no splits. 😀

Bago ako bumili ng Cebu Blue nag research muna ako. And here in you tube i viewed one German woman and said that she has mistakenly labeled her plant as Cebu blue, which is not it is just ordinary Epipremnun Pinnatum and it looks just like yours. The Epipremnum Pinnatum Cebu blue variety has a silvery and bluish leaves and it is somewhat velvety. Before it fenestrate it will take 10 to 12 years sign that plant is maturing. Many people mislabeled this two beautiful plant i'm really sorry for my comments. But people deserved to know what is the truth by the way i also have that kind of plant Ordinary Epipremnum Pinnatum again i do not wish to malign or to make you like a fool.
Hi Strider, no worries :) I made this video in the early, early days of the plantdemic. At that time, local sellers and gardeners speak of this plant as EP Cebu Blue. When more and more info came, many learned, including I, that this is the regular Epipremnum pinnatum. I am still looking for the Cebu Blue variety til this time. Ang hirap mahanap. Oh well, baka real soon makakita at makakuha na tayo ng Cebu Blue hehe
Hi Lance, yes. pero I think it was more my missteps, hindi sa plant kaya namatay yung 3rd cutting ko. I didn't transfer the cuttings sa soil kahit may roots na sya from the water propagation. Tapos bilad pa sa araw. :(
Pag super submerge kasi mamatay. It also helps na low light kapag nag propagate sa water mas mabilis lumabas yung parang bud niya.

You'll also see how the cutting progresses: penfires.com/growing-tips-for-epipremnum-pinnatum-aka-dragon-tail-plant/ . Hang-in there, gaganda din yang E.P. mo :)
@@Penfires thanks mam..sana po. sana po. high hopes ako sa kanila kahit medyo droopy pa yung mga leaves nila pero so far d pa namn na mamatay so i guess im still on the right track. will check your link mam. thanks po.
Indirect sunlight po xa. Tapos moist lagi yun soil.. Then spray water sa leaves always. Hope it helps.
Hi Marilyn, mas maganda if you put in the pole while kakasibol palang ng new leaves para may kakapitan agad sila. See this video, after I showed how to make a moss pole, I also showed paano maglagay ua-cam.com/video/Ihp0PA0Wtc4/v-deo.html
@@Penfires salamat po
I tried to repot ung bigay sken pro bglang namatay. Delicate po ba roots nia? Though may natira 1 leaf n lng, isa2 nging yellow kc tpos prang ung stem nia mejo lusaw or over water po aq haha
Did you plant it right away sa soil? Or did you leave it a few days in water before planting it in soil?
Hi Stan, planted immediately in soil yung 3 cuttings/plants na nag survived.
Thank you po
Hi James, you can follow this diy tutorial na ginawa ko for the moss pole: ua-cam.com/video/Ihp0PA0Wtc4/v-deo.html
Ive seen that growing like weed on trees in south phippines travel videos
Hi Umair, yep lots of EP especially in the provinces. This plant was largely ignored until the 'plantdemic' started around April this year. Now a lot of gardeners aka plantitas have this as a house plant. 😄
@@Penfires thats really cools how does it randomly grow everywhere? Does it have fruits like monstera which sprout in tree cracks?
I don't think this plant bears fruit. *According to the National Park of Singapore, this plant produces flower, maybe just flower and no fruit? www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/1/3/1393 The EP is really cool, one of my newer propagations only gives pothos-like leaves, no splits. 😀
This plant is native to the region so I guess they are just everywhere especially outside cities. They are real easy to propagate too.
@@Penfires it does fruit how else would it spread far?
Hi Rhnl, moss pole sya. 🙂 Gawa ko lang yan, in case gusto mo ma check how to make moss pole, eto guide
ua-cam.com/video/Ihp0PA0Wtc4/v-deo.html
I have that plant but we call it dragon's tail.
Hi icebear, yep this is also called dragon's tail, in Tagalog tibatib, in Cebuano balikupkop. 😀
...I though that dragon tail or tibatib is different from Cebu blue plant?
Which is better to use, coco pole or moss pole?
Moss pole all the way.
Thanks!
@@xenarchd dati sa SM Cebu garden sa parking lot ko nakapalit but am not sure if they are open now. Try Succulent Haven Cebu on Facebook, they usually have moss poles for sale.
"This leaf is unbroken " naol hindi broken 😭😭
Awww...:(
gardening heals :)
Is that "tibatib"?
Hi Kiwi, yes, tibatib. 😄
Ideally, dapat may at least 2 nodes per cutting ang itatanim, the more nodes the better, dun sa nodes lalabas yung new leaves.
Ordinaryong kahoy lng po ba Yung kinakapitan Ng epripremnum?
Hi Kervi, sobra ng construction yung kahoy. If you want to see the actual wood, check this moss pole diy tutorial ginawa ko for the Epipremnum pinnatum: ua-cam.com/video/Ihp0PA0Wtc4/v-deo.html Also, puede pvc pipe yung maliit ang iwrap ng moss pole. pvc gamit ko sa mas mahahabang pole.
@@Penfires thank you po! ❤️ Btw, we have the same story po Kung pano ako naka kuha Ng epripremnum, nag jogging din po kase kami din we saw a lot sa daan, mismong kalsada Lang Wala pong nag mamay ari
indonesia called this plant "ekor naga" (dragon tale) eng)
Thanks Ali for sharing the local name of dragon tail in Indonesia. Ekor naga are beautiful!
Let call it "Blue Dragon Tail" then.. 😁
Yung cutting na mentioned mo, meron yang dahon malamang, I think kakayanin cgro, pero not talaga sure. I water propagate mo lang para kita mo pag may new roots na lalabas. Let's hope for the best sa cuttings.
@@Penfires thank you ma'am. Ano po soil mix ang gamit nyo?
Etong 2019 propagations ko, regular garden soil lang. Netong 2020 propagations mix ng garden soil at vermicast.
@@Penfires thank you ma'am
hiii kaya ba nila ng afternoon sun?
Hi Art, ideal sa kanila is under shade, indirect light like how you'll find them in their natural habitat BUT per my experience meron akong E. pinnatum na nasa direct afternoon sun, kaya nya. Although may 2 leaves sa bandang baba na nasunog yung edge but yung higher leaves okay na okay.
Penfires thank you, test ko yung isa kong EP to see kung anong mangyayari
Pano niyo po tinanim ung cutting niyo po?
Hi Teresa, for my 2019 propagations direct to soil yung cuttings na nag success. This 2020 all my new 6 cuttings were propagated in water before transferring to soil. Eto yung video when I transferred the tibatib to soil tapos day 15, day 26, etc.. - ua-cam.com/video/d2VW3KoLcVA/v-deo.html
Soil propagation po lahat ‘yang nabuhay?
Hi Lance, yes. pero I think it was more my missteps, hindi sa plant kaya namatay yung 3rd cutting ko. I didn't transfer the cuttings sa soil kahit may roots na sya from the water propagation. Tapos bilad pa sa araw. :(
Penfires awww okay then thanks!
Pag super submerge kasi mamatay. It also helps na low light kapag nag propagate sa water mas mabilis lumabas yung parang bud niya.
Thanks for the tips, Neiman!
care tips for them please
Hi Karen, for Epipremnum pinnatum growing tips and care, kindly check this blog post on Penfires penfires.com/growing-tips-for-epipremnum-pinnatum-aka-dragon-tail-plant/ I'll also be doing a 2nd video for my successful 2020 propagations via water plus more care tips soon. 🙂
How much water po does it need?
Hi, I only water the E. pinnatum if the top soil is dry na, and just enough na may makita na akong excess water flow sa ground.
Paanong gumawa ng notes
Inde naman ito cebu blue. Tibatib yata ito. 😂
Hi Johna, yes, this isn't cebu blue. This is the regular form of Epipremnum pinnatum.
How much price po mam
Hi Deborah, not for sale po plants ko. But if you are asking about the cutting, binigay lang sa akin.
Anong ibig sabihin ng notes
Hi, nodes yung part ng plant where aerial roots and leaves may grow from. See this other video, focus on 2:40 to 3:05 to see clearer view of nodes: ua-cam.com/video/d2VW3KoLcVA/v-deo.html
Tibatib po local name...
Thanks, Emy! Di ko pa alam ang local name when I made this video hehe 😁
ARE YOU SURE????
Hi Melchor, sure about what? May I know more specifics about your query/concern so I can respond accordingly. Thanks.
Toxic po ba ito sa cats?
Hi Meryll, unfortunately yes, toxic sya sa pets :/
Wrong definition of fenestrations.
