My favorite song by Galaxie 500, the end gives me goosebumps every time. God, without this band I would have never discovered so many amazing bands like Bedhead, Duster or Codeine
Reminiscing the days when I had found out about this album. I was angsty and on the verge of ending it all every day. It’s been years since then and it seems like nothings changed except my ability to recognize that everything is temporary, pain and happiness. Daydreaming rn and telling myself that everything will be okay.
Thinkin' of blue thunder Singin' to myself Thinkin' how fast it moves Feelin how it turns I was singin' somethin Out on Route 128 Thinkin how blue it looks Singin out aloud My my blue thunder My my blue thunder My my blue thunder Singin' out aloud My my blue thunder My my blue thunder My my blue thunder Singin' out aloud I'll drive so far away I'll drive so far away I'll drive so far away I'll drive so far away Blue thunder Blue thunder Blue thunder Blue thunder
this lp has changed my life. ive cried so many times listening to it- both in pain and in awe of its greatness. not my usual type of thing to say, but greatness is as greatness does. in the same realm as 'slanted and enchanted' 'daydream nation' 'sidewalking' 'doolittle' as far as pivotal goes!
It’s a cold evening in December. You lie on your bed in your dorm room and hear groups of people having a laugh outside. You just found out that your crush is now in a relationship. You put on this album, telling yourself that the year is almost over and the next one will be better. For some weird reason you’re really believing it this year.
I remember in my teens feeling trapped in my small town - cranking this up and singing (shouting) "I'll drive so far away". When it finished I heard the phone ringing - neighbours telling me that they were being deafened. It was in the middle of the day BTW. xD
This song is mint!!! I got my dad to listen to this album and now he listens to it all the time....describes it as 'haunting'. This band is wildly underrated. Cheers for uploading.

Theres a Galaxie 500 live at the pointe in atlanta 1993? on these youtubes with the back of my head in the scene here and there. Very cool show! Great band great show
From Dean Wareham's memoir "Black Postcards": "My new car was so magnificent that it needed it's own name: Blue Thunder, for the Roy Scheider film about a special new helicopter designed to pacify the civilian population of Los Angeles." The car he's describing was a blue 1975 Dodge Dart Slant-6 he bought in 1989 for $150. Later, he writes that this song was: "...an ode to my Dodge Dart."
These guys are a little strange for me. Song is simple short but where is the meaning the meaning simple staring out seeing the blue thunder I go nowhere fast. help me out here I need commenting get me out of the spotlight............
It is autumn. Everything is gray. I'm alone at home. Sunday morning. This song. Sometimes it is just great to enjoy the melancholy.
Murilo the best
yes yes yes! An album for autumn and doing nothing.
Autumnhead. Now there’s a great band name!

Perfect album with whatever just fucking perfect
there is something unexplainably sad, yet bitersweet about this song
probably the best dream pop track ever created

Simple and sweet. Just right.
This is by far one of the most underrated bands ever…

Sounds fantastic. Unlike a CD, vinyl has a great deal of depth to it,and it sounds
real.
Why is this so great?
2:40...freedom at last!
God love this
The song's really sweet.
Love the naive guitar solo, sounds like drawing made with wax crayons.

No sax is best for this song.
I agree, I like both versions, but yeah no sax is way better
today is a better album and so is the production
Hoping to see Dean W in Tokyo in Oct. One of the greats.
